A gaping wound,
Tells the story of it all.
A man lost only to find,
What was left of his mind,
With no hope of a scar at all.

You say, go slow.
But something's right behind me.
I can runaway, for only so long.
It will not stop,
I will come down.
Oh no.

Let me find my way.
I'll take you to the edge.
Go across that window.
And I'll carry you there.

Woah, and nothing goes right.
Woah, and days don't come to night.
Oh, and all I see, is the error of my own enemy.

A man alone,
And cut and torn for it.
His whole life friend after friend,
They're all a flash in the pan,
With no hope of rejoice at all.

You say, go slow.
But something's right behind me.
I can runaway, for only so long.
It will not stop,
I will come down.
Oh no.

Let me find my way (Don't be scared of what you might be saying).
I'll take you to the edge (Throw away those empty fears).
Go across that window (Throw away those).
And I'll carry you there.

Oh, and nothing goes right.
Oh, and days don't come to night. (Throw away those empty fears)
Go across that window (throw away those), and I'll carry you.

Or Indigo Boys with a former BNL sitting in (Could've sworn I heard a bit of Steven Page in there).

They did the same thing at the Lincoln Theater in Washington--I think on the same tour, the acoustic one, right? The twist was they would sing "Window" to someone who texted them during the show. I forget what the criterion was, but a young woman sitting next to us "won." Sure enough they came down and sang "Window" to her, with Adam almost in my lap, "Sorry, dude..." My daughter, a huge Guster fan, danced, sang, grinned, not believing her good fortune to be so close to them. Pretty cool. Guster loves their fans and will go to amazing lengths to show them how much.

I know what you mean. Slash from G'N'R used to connect with his fans all the time, only the female ones though, for some reason.
The Indigo Girls after a few testosterone.shots.

Yes, with a hint of Indigo Girls.

Neither one a bad thing in my opinion.

Yeah, that's who I thought it was at first, too. Odd. Even tho' Guster has two top notch vocalists, they don't harmonize like this all that often. I had the same complaint about Barenaked Ladies.

this is brutal. why, Guster, why?

I'm finding the "You say 'go slow'" part really distracting — my mental jukebox keeps trying to slide into "Time After Time".

This sounds a lot like Box Set.  I really like it!!

Love the guitars but i'm not sure about the vocals.  I'll try it again some other time and see what i think then.

Bad Guster. Songs like they'd been listening to the Indigo Grrls

I personally like it better than their newer stuff. To me, "Lost And Gone Forever", "Keep It Together", and "Parachute" are Guster's best three releases, in that order. Their newest release hasn't impressed me as much. Just my two cents, though.

Bad Guster. Songs like they'd been listening to the Indigo Grrls
I feel like I'm in some farmhouse in northwest New Jersey or some New England ski resort in 1999.

I think I've heard about 800 bands do something exactly like this in one of those settings over a 3 year period in the late 90's
LOVE IT!
i'd give my left.....hand, if Guster AND Mason Jennings would come play Ketchum Alive.
Bill Keep the guster classics coming...

This is exactly what I was thinking. That said, this song is pretty lame. And I really like a lot of Guster's material. Oh well, even Bowie had a bad day once in a while.

Well, I remember the band, but don't remember them sounding like this. Makes me want to look up that band again though, I think they had like a semi-hit

Thank you! The intro really made me think I was going to hear something from one of my favorite 90's bands - I do agree though that Indigo Girls is much closer once the singing starts.

The Indigo Boys comment is so spot on! They even invited a Mike Stipe soundalike in for guest vocals!

Absolutely. With a guest appearance by Michael Stipe

I agree! Sounds very much like Bodeans style arrangement and vocal phrasing. Not that that's a bad thing.
Hm... a piece from their bongo days. I guess they had to start somewhere, eh?

That's not too surprising... the band members are friends with each other, and there's a lot of fanbase overlap. This isn't my favourite Guster song, but it's still good stuff!
I want to like Guster. I should like Guster. I like a lot of other, Guster-like music. But I just can't get into them. Every time I hear them, I'm not quite sure what's missing.

It does have that IG feel. Everytime they say you say go slow, I want to start singing "I fall behind, the second hand unwinds..." as in "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper

Guster rocks! You can take almost any song from any of their albums, and it will be quality. Such a good band.
says something about how good music is at conditioning a response when every time they sing "You say, Go slow" and i immediately think "I fall behind..."
:-({|= ADHD?
old school guster is the best!
Every single CD is great by these guys, good choice!

gotta love guster!
Reminds me of Spirit of the West, a Canadian band, and their pre-1990 work.

Guster is simply one of the best kept secrets in music today. Rarely do I introduce them to someone who doesn't become a fan. Please play more! Great song.
