I thought this was gonna be Sinead Lohan's "Whatever It Takes". The music, especially the drumming, reminds me of the other song. I do like this one, though about two counts less than Lohan's tune.

I tend to agree more with Freeone1 and Gryn (was it?). The 2005 comments seemed to really be dissin' her. I saw her live some months ago and the voice although not perfect (whose is always?) was husky and full of character, soul and good melody. She was always very personable with the audience, ya know, spoke and joked. Kin'a an 'nusual band for that set with hard rocker guitarist, country rock guitarist, cellist and the usual. Her keyboarding was fine too. Albums I've heard are at leeeast average to better than average. Great live artist in a small venue. See her if you can :)

Saw her perform at ACL fest this summer and got to meet her. Very gracious, talented woman. The girl is full of ummphh! Good to hear her on RP!

Hmmm. Well. I like the instrumental part of the track. And she's a looker, that's for sure. But EGAD that vocal is dreadfully flat, off key, ragged, etc. Even so, as a whole, the track works, sorta.

This sounds like a U2 song to me. I can easily imagine Bono vocalizing, and the instrumentation already sounds like a U2 track without any further modification.

She has an EP, which I read somewhere had a different version of a couple of songs that appear on Happenstance. I haven't heard it though. Have to say I like the album version better. This version seems overproduced.

I knew I'd heard her somewhere before. I find her phrasing a bit like the singer for Ivy. Find it a bit off-putting; she's trying to sound pained and heartfelt, but comes off almost as if she's singing phonetically.

Well, she used to be in a whiteboy-funk band named Bumpus, but she's more of a brooding-piano-chick like Tori Amos than a jazz/blues singer. While this album is a thoroughly worked-over studio production, her EP really highlights her "chick on a piano" style. For those who want to hear more, I'll be uploading more tracks from this album; we'll see if Bill adds them. Frankly, this tune is one of the two that were obviously crafted for VH1 and radio airplay. I like it anyway, but there are better on the album.

I saw her in concert and she was wonderful. She opened up for Gomez and she had a great stage presence, she really one over the crowd.

I hear it on the radio all the time and am completely turned off by the drum machine and, although her voice and cadence are interesting, what she is saying isn't particulaly clever. I did hear a live acoustic session (world cafe) that was MUCH better.
