I got to see Steve not too long ago at the Chumash casino, I was very impressed to say the least. The ladies in front of me held their ears when he played Dear MR.Fantasy and other songs that rocked! He was great!

As far as blue-eyed soul ... Steve is probably the best at it However I agree with the other comments here that he has never hit the pinnacle on being a Major presence in music.... mind you his talent is huge and we forget that he was a teenager when he was playing (and singing) in Traffic He is phenomenal talent that always puts out good stuff... but never ground breaking stuff This tune does have a great funk to it though the guitar is punchy and works well with the drums.

Traffic used to be everybody's second favorite band back in the late 60's / early 70's, but eveything Mr. Winwood has released since then has been mediocre at best, imho. But we've kept giving him a chance every time he comes out with something new because we really want him to recreate the magic. We really do. But it never happens...

In all the live shows I've seen in my years, Steve Winwood was by far one of the top 5 - Probably 3rd, next to Prince and Dolly Parton. He had the entire arena up and dancing - it was amazing. Great show - if you ever get a chance to see him, GO!

This song is great, as was his old stuff, as was his 80's stuff. I've added it to the wish list and can't wait to add it to the road trip pile. The lyrics and emtions contained in Back in the HIgh Life were great, even if you don't like the synths.

I enjoy all the ages of Stevie Winwood - Spencer Davis group, Traffic, Blind Faith, 80's and 90's solo stuff. And this new stuff too. He has a golden touch. Bill made kind of a theme of that organ sound, by following this song with Booker T and the MG's. Nice :-)

This is GREAT! Good to hear Stevie again. But it sounds different...like his voice is deeper and more husky. Might be the production quality, but the "brightness" is definitely gone. But for a voice like his, it's almost better...more....smoky, if that makes any sense.
