Dawn to dawn a lifetime the birds sing and day's begun
The heaven will shine from dawn to dusk with golden rays of sun

People on their way beginning a brand new day
I love hearing people say it's a beautiful day today

People in the streets rushing everywhere
Moving fast and how I know they got to get somewhere

People on their way beginning a brand new day
I love hearing people say it's a beautiful day today

That's not whistling.  Ask Roger Whittaker.

The whistling, it's not intended to be perfect.

Just the vibe they were going for.

"Proto" hippie?  This is from 1969 - hippies had been around for a while by then.  I agree though, these guys had much better tunes than this.  This almost seems like a parody.

Moby Grape sits in my mind as an overhyped band from 60s that never really showed up. Apart from "Hey Grandma" I couldn't name another MG song. I'm not disputing your take, though. Which MG songs do you recommend?

Omaha was always my favorite by the Grape.  Have to look for more stuff, but listened to them a lot back when this was new.  They were kinda a local act for me in those days so they got airplay where I lived.
I'm reading the San Francisco history book "Season of the Witch," and the author goes into how Moby Grape was the hottest band on the planet... for a couple months.  Then a succession of bad business moves and fate came crashing down

Sounds like Axel Rose on the whistle ... JUST SAYIN..
 Worse than that.

Wow. Don't know I've heard this previously on RP. If not, I would have said I love it. No comment below.  It's very timely, and also very '60s. A  lovely uplifting melody.

Probably could qualify as protohippie music. It is rather nauseous. I think that Moby Grape had a harder-edged version too. Please do not judge this group by this one song, listeners. Bill, please let us hear others from Moby Grape instead so that a fuller picture can emerge.

oh for god sakes it does {#Lol}
My lord, it's got whistling!
Flashbacks of sunny, carefree childhood days arise. Luckily I'm still a bit connected to that. It's definitely melancholy too. You probably have to be an incorrigible romantic/dreamer to appreciate a song like this.
How about Motorcycle Irene!!!
