Police car with a screaming siren
Pneumatic drill on a ripped up concrete
Baby wails, a stray dog howling
Brakes screech at a lamp light blinking

That's entertainment
That's entertainment

Smash of glass and a rumble of boots
Electric train and a ripped up phone booth
A hot day and a sticky black tarmac
A hot day and I'm wishing I was far away

That's entertainment
That's entertainment

Days of speed and a slow time Mondays
Wake up at 6 AM and think about your holidays
Open window and breathe in petrol
Cold flat with a dump (? A dump? It's fucking "damp" you moron) on the walls

Yes, that's entertainment
That's entertainment

Two lovers kissing over screams of midnight
Two lovers missing the tranquillity of solitude
Read grafitti of slashed seat affairs (??And what the fuck is this supposed to be? It' 'Slash seats or fares'"
Splattered walls and a kick in the balls
Is all that you get, in the name of entertainment

Good Tune! I never heard this before.  Thanx RP!

the jam's original was more to my taste, but this is cool for something different.
Very talented, but creepy!    PS: a test would probably show that he has neanderthal DNA !  ...check out his pronounced forehead! ...LOL!
Good Tune! I never heard this before.  Thanx RP!

More Jam!
I concur, more JAM please, its all about the lyrics on this one for Morrissey!
Come on guys....Morrissey takes us back 15 -20 years.Remember when you first got laid? I was listening to the Smiths with a very freaky Smiths freak.
At least Morrisey is consistent. Another "2" for the pile.
More Jam!
Would someone PLEASE remove the frog from his throat? Sounds like an English Kermit the Frog singing... Decent. At best. Pretty flat.
I love the original, like this version...but concur...more Jam is a good idea.
I could really do without this song this morning or any morning come to think of it.

I like a good amount of his solo work. Love the Smiths. This song? Er... Every cover I've heard of this song is colorless. Hold out for the original.
Listening to Morrisey can be like bad sex sometimes. It can feel really good while its going on, but you end up feeling 'icky' when it's all done.
:headache.gif:
I like it how he gives it a whole different, much clearer (though not so much entertaining ) twist. Young Paul Weller's approach is bitter and angry while Morrisey's (off course) more mature and melancholy. About how Paul Weller will probably do it now, after all his experiences, I guess.
this is an alright cover (i don't hate the moz like some) but, really, the original version crushes this one like a grape - more jam on radio paradise, please

this is a really nice stripped down version of a beautiful tune. Bravo
I'll second that.

in agreement .

THITSS INT-UH-TINE -MUH-UNT!
This is probably the best Morrissey I have ever heard: it actually earns a '1'.
What a bad idea. This cover rapes the song of all its character.
Bill needs to add a ratings category for songs that are a complete joke, as this is.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ This version is brutally boring....
What everyone else has already said -- the Jam gave it necessary bite.
Paul Weller and the Jam's version is better . Please play some Jam on RP !
Nice cover, but leaves me yearning for the Jam! Pleeese do add Jam to the playlist!
nice cover - does something different - the Jam version should definitely be on the playlist, though
Oh! The Jam done by Morrissey!!! Never heard this before!!!! The lyrics, and that voice...really nice combo! I've got a CD called "Fire & Skill" which is Jam songs covered by others (Everything But The Girl, Garbage, the Gallaghers, etc.) but the version on there of "That's Entertainment" is by a band called Reef and I was underwhelmed. This version is really a treat! Thanks!
Good cover - The Jam was better but the original usually is now isn't it.
can't say i like morrissey. i'd be lying.
nice cover...had not heard this version before. Have heard you play N. gallagher and Paul weller on RP....somewhere/sometime I'm sure you'll surprise us with the Billy Bragg live version....are there others lurking out there?
You are on a roll. This mix couldn't have been better if I made it myself. Thanks RP.
Great song well covered. Not as good as The Jam's but thats always hard. Rock on RP.
Okay, I love The Smiths, I love Morrissey. I'm not particularly jazzed about this one, though.
I loved the song when first done by The Jam. Hadn't heard Morrissey's version. I like it, too. Different. Thanks!
Isn't this an old Jam or Paul Weller tune? Anyway, Bill, The Jam would be a welcome listen.
Viva Smiths, sorry Morrissey.
