This song does have a deep meaning which is easily overlooked. Which in turn is one the greatest achievements! I had it taught to me during musical classes on primary school. It stuck with me ever since.

I heard Harry B.'s Day-O throughout my childhood as my parents where fans.
Then I discovered the ultimate gem, the live at Carnegie Hall. Superior showmanship, class A entertainer and fantastic band and orchestra... highly recommended! ...and you realise how big he was back then.

I had to bump this from 8 to 10 because of the events of the last half hour.  My brother and I were arguing about recycling, and he tried to stomp off in a rage, and then this song came on.  I yelled at him to come back, I turned this song up, and all those layers of hostility and defensiveness just dropped away.

Any song that can de-fuse a potential war is a 10 in my book. God love ya, Mr. Belafonte.

My parents used to have this and I would throw it on the Grundig and spinning it a lot. Back in 1964 I think. Years later saw the Kinks in LA and Ray woudl scream out Dayoh all show and people would yell back. It is infectious.

Beetlejuice certainly was a tremendous film, but there is a lot more to HB as well.

Check out "Island in the Sun", "Jamaica Farewell" and if you want something to cause a good chuckle or two, try "Mama Look a Boo Boo"
