Harmonica is the highlight.  The drum machine is tedious. Ho Hum rating

Come on, Mr. Daidy: certainly not "everyone" thinks that.  Anyhow, this song is almost 15 years old - not really from "these days".
Well I'll join in on the "sounds like" procession that's going on here - sounds like some pervert in the bushes trying to lure his next victim

It's OK that you hate falsetto, but everything else about what you just said is silly.

Falsetto predates the 16th century and has been annoying its critics in every era of music that I'm aware of.

Sounds a whole lot like Karl Wallinger, which is why I like the sound of this tune, I think.

Actually singers do all the time.  Very few are professionally trained, yet somehow it doesn't really matter when it comes to rock, pop or folk music.  Just like harmonica playing.

Just a classic, enjoy it everytime I listen to it.

You know, I was fine with this until the falsetto "Waiting on a... miracle!" bit toward the end, and that just throws me totally into 'eye-roll' mode. Ew.

Sure there's more, but one can't help but notice if something sounds like something else. This instantly reminded me of Neil Young. Anyway, it's not necessarily bad if someone sounds like someone else...every artist has their influences. But somehow the originality factor really matters a lot to me when appreciating any kind of art, and usually I don't like it when someone sounds too much like someone else, especially the music. I guess this guy can't help it if his voice is like Neil's. But I've heard blatant U2 and Talking Heads "sound alikes" on RP that to me were more like ripping off or copying, the opposite of originality.

sounds like a castrated neil young. not a pleasant visual. not pleasant to listen to either.
Reminds me of "The Weakerthans"
I kinda like this... although the lyrics aren't what I want them to be...

Yeah, that's what I thought, too, and I rushed over to see if there was some new stuff out. No such luck, but I like this. I do wish Karl Wallinger would get off his duff and produce something new.
sounds like the voice of Josh Rouse.

Yeah, was hanging tight at "mediocre" until that falsetto kicked in... not a good addition.

This *must* be a Deacon Blue trubute band.

it's like the Eels with a seriously cheap-o drum machine... otherwise not half bad, though (until that "miracle" business at the end).
I must be in a good mood tonight. I just bumped this up from a 4 to a 6, and scratched my head with a "wtf" trying to think why I gave this a 4 in the first place. Reminds me a little of Mick Jagger, oddly. Wait, there's that falsetto - not liking that. Still, I'll stick with my 6.

Ditto! Man - trying to sound like Neil Young or something? What a way to ruin a song.

Well, this is why I love RP: I never heard of this band, and now that I have, it's nothing I would buy. But that doesn't mean I don't like it. It's fine. It's great to hear on the radio, but it just doesn't reach that "gotta-have" threshold. 6.
It also reminded me of `something', so I read the posts. Indeed it was Deacon Blue. Most Excellent.

Sounds like a less edgy Eels perhaps. I like it.
