Let me hear that
Play it again
Sounds tight to me
Better take it out and shake it
''All: Oh, shake that thing!''

Down in Georgia there's a dance they do
Ain't nothing to it, it's easy to do
Gotta shake that thing ''(Oh, shake that thing!)''
Oh shake that thing ''(Oh, shake that thing!)''
Telling you yeah, shake, shake that thing

They shake in the east, shake in the west
Way down south they shake the best
Gotta shake that thing ''(Oh, shake that thing!)''
Oh shake that thing ''(Oh, shake that thing!)''
Don't be mean old man, just gotta shake that thing

Big old girl named Alice Reed
Blew the leaves right off the tress
She shook that thing ''(Oh, shake that thing!)''
Oh shake that thing ''(Oh, shake that thing!)''
My oh my, she sure did shake that thing

She got two big feet - size forty four
Gotta back up to knock at the door
Shake that thing ''(Oh, shake that thing!)''
Oh shake that thing ''(Oh, shake that thing!)''
She don't need no shoes but she sure can shake that thing

If BillG had played the theme for Mr. Belvedere, I might have PSD'd that Redbone song....this one is great and I gave it an 8!!

I went to a signing of a book by Chuck Jones at an art gallery. Took this album with me and gently slid it across the table for him to sign.

He, very gently, returned it to me and said politely "If I sign something you didn't buy here, they'll break my fingers. But let me tell you, I got to meet Mr. Redbone..." and then told me a nice story about that day. It was a very kind thing to do, to the disappointed guy who hoped for something and was let down.

Addendum: also met Mel Blanc. The only member of the hold trinity I missed was Cal Stalling.

Kool story!!

Wow! Lucky you. Had to look Carl Stalling up but yes the guy was a genius (as were other two). Loony Tunes set the bar very high for animation. The cartoons are still hilarious.

sheik yerboottie, sez go for it !
Michigan J. Frog!
With the exception of the title subject matter...the sound of this song musically sounds like it could accompany the soundtrack to the Jungle Book. Baloo anyone??
Saw LR in the early 1970s in Montréal. It was just him and his guitar and a tuba player to fill in the bottom.
Tuba guy played Flight of the Bumblebee as a solo. Good times.

Yes, you are much missed here (and probably all though your world) at RP. R.I.P.

Yep, that was a great show. I'd say Leon is one of those rare performers - Arlo Guthrie being another one - who truly seems to care whether his audience has a spanking good time.

Love it!!
She can shake that thing: one more tasty blues metaphor, innit?
Y'all can play Leon all night; I'd be alright ...
There's just not enough Leon in the world.
Been a long time since I've heard from The 'Bone. Good to hear! {#Bananasplit}
I'm gonna upload "Sweeper and Debutante" by George Gritz, anybody who like this will love it. It's a similar style, with a hilarious story line.

F*ck me, this is fun! I nearly burst out laughing at first, which would have been embarrassing in my shared office. 8 from the swingin' Nottingham jury.

Cool! The two volume Carl Stalling Project recordings are incredible! June Foray is 94, but is still in Santa Barbara, time for a visit. Remarkably, she is still doing voice work on Flapjack for Cartoon Network and is slated for the 2011 Looney Tunes show, now in production.

Does an interesting live show, depending on the size of venue and friendliness of the audience.

Yes, that means you can appreciate it while witnessing the nuclear holocaust.

Are you suggesting this track has been chosen to play at the end of the world?

Interesting choice.

Unless you're witnessing it from quite far away, you won't appreciate it for very long.

I'm going to hate myself for saying this, but I agree with Stingray here. {#Headache} 4.

Love the album cover and the song!{#Lol}
I was just wondering the other day what ever happened to Leon Redbone.

Redbone's origins are shrouded in mystery. According to the Toronto Star in the 1980s, his birth name is Dickran Gobalian, who came to Canada from Cyprus in the mid-1960s and changed his name via Ontario,Canada's Change of Name Act.He has cited his date of birth as October 29, 1929; this wildly inaccurate date was the day of the U.S. stock market crash that sparked the Great Depression. He also claimed to have been born in Bombay during a monsoon to parents Niccolò Paganini (a composer and violinist who died in 1840) and Jenny Lind (a singer who died in 1887).

Love the 'bone - now we need some Mose Allison singing "Your Mind is On Vacation"!

Riff "Whose mind is already on vacation, or at least on the weekend" Ster

Leon Redbone - Gotta Shake That Thing
Chemical Brothers - Shake Break Bounce
AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long
The Guess Who - No Sugar Tonight

I like when tunes so different from one another follow each other. It's an experiment for the ears, it brings up curiosity.
This one is funny, gotta shake that thing. Not too sure about the others...
Picture my thing shaking now please.
Fun concert. See him if you get a chance.
Fun.
Oh, what a treat to hear Leon Redbone here on RP. He and his "thrombone" make his albums an absolute blast. I own 'em all! Thanks for playing this gem.
Supposedly his real name is Dickran Gobalian. I say go for the Dickran.

But remember, your answer MUST be in the form of a question. Ha!
Yes, yes, I do gotta shake that thing. Thank you. This helps me maintain that "Hallelujah it's Friday" tingle.
