Cassius Clay was hated more than Sonny Liston
Some like KK Downing more than Glenn Tipton
Some like Jim Nabors, some Bobby Vinton
I like 'em all

I put my feet up on the coffee table
I stay up late watching cable
I like old movies with Clark Gable
Just like my dad does

Just like my dad did when he was home
Staying up late, staying up alone
Just like my dad did when he was thinking
Oh, how fast the years fly

I know an old woman ran a doughnut shop
She worked late serving cops
But then one morning, baby, her heart stopped
Place ain't the same no more

Place ain't the same no more
Not without my friend Eleanor
Place ain't the same no more
Man, how things change

I buried my first victim when I was nineteen
Went through her bedroom and the pockets of her jeans
And found her letters that said so many things
That really hurt me bad

I never breathed her name again
But I like to dream about what could have been
I never heard her calls again
But I like to dream

Reminded me tonight of Ron Sexsmith. {#Music}
Did anyone else hear the dog barking in the background just now as Bill was announcing the next song? Was he chasing a squirrel up a tree? Haha, too funny!! :P

Yes it is. I know his voice is weird, but I like it.

Listen to another station then.

Mark K.'s a melancholy genius.  Shadowy soul who keeps sending out tunes that pierce to your core.

Nice!
Sweet, vulnerable and sincere. I love this tune. So pertinent to me.

I was so intrigued with Mark Kozelek's vocals and the lyrics of this song, I went searching the interwebz to try to find out what he's saying here. Apparently there's quite a debate re: if he's writing from the point of view of a serial killer, or just of a lonely lovelorn guy. When a song can stop you in your tracks like this and make you want to dig deeper, I say it's a good thing.
agreed

Some, thankfully rare, times, you just have to hear someone sing a few notes to really take against their voice - I have the same reaction to Dylan and Young (my loss, I'm sure). This was sucko-barfo from the first bar, sadly :(

I could not agree more.

Not impressed with this song.  Forgettable.

You articulated my sentiments far better than I could. Nicely done.

Excellent! Please, Bill, play more of Mark K.. {#Heartkiss}

The song is a 10 and the album it comes from is my favorite album of all-time.
it's not outstanding, but it's very listenable

I'm pretty sure this was the guy who played the bass player in Almost Famous - a great movie, especially if you really like music. Best soundtrack ever.
very, very good stuff from this local boy
Great song from THE best album, so far, released in the new millenium. Koz is a supremely talented musician.
Great band, great album.

Thanks Naffie!
This CD is just a masterpiece!
With the exception of one upbeat song (Lily and Parrots), the whole CD sounds like this. If you like it, the CD is worth it. Listening to it puts you in a place that feels like that moment between waking and sleeping, when the world is not quite real yet, but you know it's there. Absolutley breathtaking. I don't give 10s easily, but this...yes.
Mark's voice just gets me, every time. 9
Thought this was Andrew Bird.
Hey, why hasn't this song been played in a while? Anything that mentions this guitarist (and KK Downing) from Judas Priest hsa gotta be good... Seriously, this is one of my favorites off this GREAT CD.
Formerly the Red House Painters, the new Sun Kil Moon delivers on this absolutely beautiful and touching song, Glen Tipton. As a matter of fact, the entire album is a amazing array of acoustic, Neil Youngesque, but with their own twist of mostly folk-indie-rock. The guitars on this cd are infectious, and the melodies stick with you. An instant classic song, Glen Tipton, to go along with one of the best cds of 2003.
