I was crying over you
I am smiling I think of you
Where your gardens have no walls
Breathe in the air if you care, you compare, don't say farewell

Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and you swear your love's for me
Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and you swear your love's for me

I was crying over you
I am smiling I think of you
Misty morning and waterfalls
Breathe in the air if you care, you compare, don't say farewell

Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and you swear your love's for me
Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and you swear your love's for me
Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and you swear your love's for me

Virtuous sensibility
Escape velocity

Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and you swear your love's for me
Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and you swear your love's for me
Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and you swear your love's for me
Breathe in the air if you care, you compare, don't say farewell
Nothing.

Nice! Thank you for that info. Seems they team up often.
A first for me, an easy "7". Glad it's apparently "back in rotation."
OH this is great I first saw Finley on later with Jools Holland in like 2000 in London. I immediately bought this album and his previous one.
Almost got whiplash when the low growling synth took center stage.  Nice move, producer!
I put this on mix tape (err CD)  back then.  I wore the fuck out of this song.

Humm. I like that sound.
Good song, especially with Beth Orton singing back up.
Reminds me of the James song Lose Control
initially thought i heard Tom Petty - but Beth Orton's voice is distinct and a great backup singer it seems
I found Finley on the beeb on Friday night with Jools Holland many many years ago and loved him. Great album - great tune!
Tom Petty's ghost?
Not crazy about dubstep, but Beth Orton!
Needs some more Finley Quaye on here!  I can't remember hearing any other tracks of his on here in the several years I've been listening, he has so many other great tracks - and it'd make a great change from the dozens of U2, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Peter Gabriel tracks that get prioritised...

I concur! Her voice is what led me to look at this info, first listen  I like! {#Cheers}

I like better Maverick a strike from him!

Lovely song.
two of my favourites from the college years rolled into one, what could be better?

William Orbit, baby.  It's his signature in this song that he co-wrote. He's one of the oooold school Electronica artists.
Little known fact, this was off of Beth Orton's rare, debut recording, Superpinkymandy.  Seems strange and misleading to alter the tile from "Roll The Dice" and really I hadn't realized this until I recently listened to Superpinkymandy and it came on.  Still a decent version, but VERY similar to Beth Orton's original.

You are perhaps talking about The O.C - that's where I heard this for the first time too.
A truly good musical experience! It has everything a good tune should have, great vocals, lyrics, rhythm etc etc. {#Notworthy} A very talented guy is Mr Quaye!

Beth Orton once said, “Writing a song is like having a really difficult conversation with yourself.”

not really liking this.  it really sounds like pre-packaged pop.  all shiny surface, no depth.
Wow. I listen to RP nearly all day, every day and i've never heard this before. Immediate 8, with room to grow.

can't remember the rest, but I concur, this is why I love this radio station

(one smallish gripe, though: aside from my monthly RP contribution, which is worth WAY more than its weight in gold, cocaine, diamonds, what have you, my iTunes and Amazon Downloads bills are getting out of hand. Bill, if anyone tells you that internet radio is hurting music sales, I'll show them my Visa bill. OK, this wasn't a gripe afterall. My ipod is swollen and thick from all the great music I discovered via RP)

This is a nightmare
All the comments about the lovely Beth Orton vocals, but no one mentions William Orbit collaborated on this?  His production fingerprints are all over it. :)
Super styling....great vibe
LOVE LOVE LOVE ... this song

All true!
At last..
just so lovely makes you glad to be alive!
Good to hear this song again on RP.  It has been awhile.
Love this!  Familiar, comforting, yet full of newness...  Perfect accompaniment to a resin-scented morning — neighborhood red pine…
Oh, wait… see preceding comment.

Well said!!  This song has always been one of my very favorites played on Radio Paradise — and I only hear it on RP (or in my own personal collection now...).  And it remains a "10" on my ratings list.

I'll third that...  After Maverick A Strike, I just assumed he couldn't do wrong and bought this without listening to anything on it...  Unfortunately, Dice is the only song I can stand on this record.

Nice tune, think he blends well with BethO.

I must just be in an RP slipstream - I've liked every song so far.  This one has hints of Tom Petty, and also of William Topley and The Blessing.  Mmmmm - good schtuff...{#Sunny}

Sounds like Beth Orton.
I'm guessing his name's pronounced "K" not "kway" (or "key"), based on his Wiki article, and his father's name: Caleb Kaye.
Never heard of this guy, but I like the cut of his jib!
Wonderful tune-
His cover of Marley's Sunshine Reggae is great too.

Except it's less than 5 years old, but the sentiment is appropriate.

Finley's 1997 and 2001 albums are also excellent. About half the tracks on each are definitely keepers. Really creative and "Groovy" ; )

No matter what happens on the rest of the album (I have no clue) This song is AMAZING, so amazing :)
Mondegreen moment: "Nothing can compare to when you hold the knife and swear you'll come for me. . ."
This is marvelous. I can hear the Orbit. And Beth Orton too! More, please!

I absolutely agree that this is the best song on the album--the mixture of his voice and Beth Orton's is amazing. But even though the rest of the songs aren't that great, "Beautiful Nature" is good for dancing around the house with a 3-year-old.
His voice reminds me of Tom Petty.

Beth Orton sounds good on this song as well....
Try and hear the album 'Maverick a Strike'. FQ won the 1998 Brit Awards - Best Male Solo Artist. For what you might consider it to be worth.........
This song sure has a nice mellow beat.
This is produced by william orbit, very nice one
This quy takes some real abuse from the album reviews on AMG. Tough crowd

Part of this sounds a little like Roland Gift from The Fine Young Cannibals and when I saw the album cover he even looks like him. He's got a lot more range though.
Interestingly, 'Dice' is the only example of that particular texture on the CD, but the other material is still good. Thanks for the tip, RP!
The subwoofer is diggin this
Always liked this song. Really like the chorus and his voice. Have to download it from iTunes now.

This may be garbage, but they normally say that he's Tricky's uncle (which means he must have had a much, much older sibling, as they look roughly the same age). Tricky's first album, Maxinquaye, is named after his Mother, Maxine Quaye. (Maybe someone else can provide a definite answer on this, or maybe it's already been given elsewhere, in which case sorry).

Sounds like Johnny Rivers. I like it.

Finley 'Dice' Quaye? Likeable tune.
Tom Petty meets Bruce Springsteen with a drum machine? I kinda like it.
Shades of Ben Harper with a touch of angst. I like it.
This song was on the O.C. (I unapolageticly admit that I watch the O.C.). Anyway, great song but I kinda wish i could stop thinking about the show when I hear it (it kinda has the same effect as when a song is used in a comercial).
Hey, Bill, kindly stop. Can't put anymore CD's in my Amazon shopping basket!
