Your love, lifting me higher
Than I've ever been lifted before
So keep it it up
Quench my desire
And I'll be at your side, forever more

You know your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on lifting (love keeps lifting me)
Higher (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
I said your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on (love keeps lifting me)
Lifting me (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
Now listen

Now once, I was down hearted
Disappointment, was my closest friend
But then you, came and it soon departed
And you know he never
Showed his face again

That's why your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on lifting (love keeps lifting me)
Higher (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
I said your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on (love keeps lifting me)
Lifting me (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)

I'm so glad, I've finally found you
Yes that one, in a million girls
And I whip, my loving arms around you
I can stand up, and face the world

Let me tell ya, your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on lifting (love keeps lifting me)
Higher (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
I said your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on (love keeps lifting me)
Lifting me (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)

Now sock it to me
Hold me, ... the other woman
Keep my love going
Higher and higher
I said keep on lifting
Lift me up mama
Keep on lifting me
Higher and higher

Had to move to 10! Had to….
Godlike indeed! Straight 10.
Bill’s burning it up tonight!
Does anyone know what he says at the end of the song about "the other woman?"

  Now sock it to me.
Hold me, ... the other woman

Looked up, actually he says

Alright, now sock it to me
  Alright, lift me up woman

Bummed, was curious about this other woman.
This song is a time-tested 'Anthem' for a good reason. It is a great record.
First time hearing this on RP.
An instant 10.

There you go....maybe my previous comment helped....now...where's the 9.5 rating button at?
8 -> 9 - OUTSTANDING
Lately when I hear this song I think of a movie's credits rolling...anyone know what movie it is? I feel like it's a movie I've seen many many times...
Crivens, I've never noticed quite how high pitched those backing singers are before.

Great song but the Chipmunks backing vocals grate after a while.
Soniah, Bertold, Miriam and Maria ladin girl which is mixing emo with retro roman, came like a stampede,

Yes Sir!  : )

the voice of Jackie Wilson is positive medicine
A tenor with a four octave vocal range,
One of the very finest to ever.
Jackie, what a voice never go wrong with some Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson..

Awesome voice!  Jackie Wilson doing this song rates a 10 just because its timeless, and so ALIVE!!!
Norah Jones and the Malick Group were right before this and she depressed the hell outta me, she lacks passion

Harold Ramis, RIP...

Ernie Hudson, Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis vs. The Stay Puft Marshmallow man
Can be a rising spiritual song too!!
"I'm so glad, I've finally found you,

That's a love song.
Reminds me of Mickie's A Go-Go in Omaha, Nebraska!
Brilliant. So joyful. Would be dancing in my living room if I didn't have a cat asleep on my lap. {#Dance}

holy moly !

Wonderful infectious, soulful music - there is grinning and tapping of feet going on here! {#Propeller}
One of the greatest of all time
Death to Smoochy!  {#Dancingbanana}
I still can't help but think of Ghostbusters II every time I hear this song. That's actually a good thing. :)

Damn Bill, you are spinning a great set of tunes this evening. For those of you who live in the Chicago area, the Black Ensemble Theater are running a production called the Jackie Wilson Story. It is a must see show!
What a great song for a Friday afternoon.
Not sure I understand the connection between this song and the previous "Sullivan Street," but ohhhh - Jackie Wilson. There is never a bad time for one of his songs.{#Mrgreen}
Perfect song.
Phew, washed that Counting Crows right outta my head...
Awww, hells yeah!

Ah, Jackie Wilson... the energy just jumps out of the grooves on this one. The man had truly attained enlightenment.

And don't forget the wonderful tribute song - an amazing and moving sonic tapestry- to  Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson  (who both left this earthly realm in 1984)
"Nightshift" by the Commodores, :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlsfYDj2HWA

2nd verse:
"Jackie (Jackie), hey what'you doing now
It seems like yesterday
When we were working out
Jackie (Jackie, oh) you set
The world on fire
You came and gifted us
Your love it lifted us
Higher and higher "

Al Green, the soul singer, and Elvis Presley were some of the few artists who regularly visited the bed-ridden Wilson.

Sad end—wasn't around long enough to get the John Lee Hooker, Al Green, Johnny Cash re-emergence he so richly deserved.

What a great song and sad story...

Fantastic song, but why is this the only one of Jackie's songs in the system?

More, Bill!

I wish Fox News would start an online music service, so trolls (like this racist prick) would stay off RadioParadise. And yeah, you can quote me.

No one EVER sang like Jackie! No one ever will. Even Van paid homage, and named a song after him.

This always puts a smile on my face.
Been groovin' to this toon for decades. Absolutely superb. Now how do we label this? Soulful R&B?
I'm trying to cut way back on "10's" but this makes the cut in a cakewalk.

I can't listen to this song without thinking of Ghostbusters II... "Keep kickin' Libby! If you make this work, we'll pop for a weekend in Vegas with the Jolly Green Giant!"
How can anyone not get into this!
They don't call it Soul for nothing. Soul-less is a sad state of being. Xeric wrote:

To truely appreciate music you can never have to much Soul. Its the nature of the beast and personally I Love It

To Almarie:
I normally like backing vocals, but the backup "echo" vocals on this song are so staccato-sounding, I can't stand it. And this song is just too happy for me.
Xeric wrote:

A puzzling oxymoron.
Cream of the crop stuff. That's hard to be, but it is what it is.
There are issues I have with the numbers in the ratings versus the descriptions. This is one of the few songs where "Godlike" applies imho. Just one of the greatest ever.
just a great happy song - always makes me smile and sing along.
"While performing their 1982 hit "Jackie Wilson Said" the band Dexys Midnight Runners were seen performing in front of a projection of the darts player Jocky Wilson. <2> Opinions differ as to whether this was deliberate or accidental" TOTP - Wikipedia
Loved by all demographics when released...who can do that today. Priceless!
A classic!
Aretha and then this in one night? Too much soul, Bill. Way too much.
yes yes yes
This guy is crazy in love! :D
What was I thinking?? I had this rated as 9. This is sheer 10 if not higher, and higher and higher!

For me, this song is Smoochy Heaven time! Remember, boys and girls: friends come in all sizes!
OK, young 'uns learn the elements of great R&B. Now gets up and shake.
Great Monday morning tune. YAY!
I wonder if this song could power the Statue of Liberty to walk? Maybe if there was some way we could cover it in pink emotional slime...
