Who doesn't like cheese every now & then. Let's just say it is a happy song.
That song couldn't end fast enough.
Please....exit, stage left.

Best taken in limited quantities. He has played this every single time I have seen him, in almost any context. Too bad that his much much better later work has yet to break into the airwaves (or internet waves).
Good song. Some things just don't seem to change, though. Sigh.

oh, please end soon.
It's fine ... something crazy now and then is a palate cleanser

If read literally, that statement could indicate that you end up enjoying the song, or at least no longer desire its end.
It's longer than my longing for it to end
Play this song to kill the martian when they attack earth ... otherwise please not!   HORRIBLE

Or the Iguanas.
Oh this puts a smile on my face for nostalgic, lyric and melodic reasons.
Was going to give it a 2, but then decided (around the 3rd verse I think) it really wasn't worth that faint recognition.

Gaucho music!  Who doesn't love the accordion and yippee's?  Cool the Dos Equis and pass the nachos.  {#Dancingbanana_2}

Zactly.
I get the allusion, but the song still stinks.
I really only need to hear this about once every ten years or so, if that. I gets its historical significance 'n all, but other than that it's about three minutes too long.
disturbin ...endless...hope...guess...good...not bad...bad bad good song..want to know how i rate it?{#Ask}
A perfect "corrido" structure... besides Rowan's conviction, a good syncopation and instrumentation.
Greetings from Mexico City.

Would've been tolerable if it had ended somewhere
before the three minute mark.  Some songs just shouldn't
be six minutes long.

I suppose Karma is teaching me not to be proud of my sense of humor. I just don't get this at all.

This one caught my attention:

2. Only in America......are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.

There is a motorcycle dealership here in Austin that is required by law to have six spaces at the front of the store reserved for handicap parking.  Needless to say, they are never used.  So ironic on several levels.

Only on Radio Paradise.... Bill you're great!
This rather reminds me of the opening credits to Monty Python and the Holy Grail, after the Swedish tourist board gets replaced by text about llamas and super-cheesy Mexican-style music plays in the background.

It's funny, if we would reproduce as many cliches about the "americans" (althought I am an argentinean and I consider to be one as I belong to the same continent) that are made about the mexicans, we would be really f**ed up wouldnt we?

I don't disagree with you, but isn't there a more inoffensive label we can use besides "Mexican"?
Red River Valley anyone :)
No.

You mean the complaining? Nah, not as long as humans exist. {#Wink}

  I think he's still playing. I saw him at Jovita's a few years back.

  Actually there are two opposite clichés about 'em around here: the good mexican fellow (he will share his nachos and tacos with you) and the dirty, horrible mexicano (illegal, speaking that horrible language and needing more than a bath).. at least as far as I can see

"In the Morenos Mountains campesinos are planting their fields
While the ghost of Zapata rides a horse that can still outrun the wheel
There, free in the sky high above, nearly clear out of sight
It's the Free Mexican Air Force flyin' tonight

In the City of Angels, a cowboy is cooling his heels
Remembering that God gave us herbs and the fruits of the fields
But a criminal law that makes outlaws of those seeking light
Made the Free Mexican Air Force — Mescalito riding his white horse —
Yeah, the Free Mexican Air Force is flyin' tonight!"

Flying so high - yi - hiyeeeee! ...

...and yes, that is Flaco Jimenez's considerable skill on the accordion

Try this one!

¡Andale! ¡Andale! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba! ¡Yii-hah!

I remember those KFAT days!  Predeccessor to pork from Freedom!  KFAT was loose and louche, touched by madness and well grounded all at once.  This is a perfect example of KFAT at its best.

I was going to go with the Arroz con Pollo, but we had the same idea.

Don't hate it. Just wish it didn't go on quite so long.
This song should be followed by El Paso by the Dead.

I haven't heard this in a very long time. I remember a sing-a-long on a Baja beach back in the 70s. Excellente.

Somehow I don't think I'll be hearing this in any of the 'mexican' restaurants around here anytime soon.
yuck.
This song was even ten times better live at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado. (Way more than just bluegrass at that festival, btw)

Damn if that doesn't make ya smile. Thanks.
One of the best Rowan songs around (except of course for all the others).
