That's a great version - actually the first version I came across once upon a time when I found it as a new release in a record store about 18 years ago.. haven't heard it since. Now listening to the original as I write this.. for the first time.

There actually is a FANTASTIC version of this song by X-Press 2 "feat. David Byrne."  It's long, but by the end it's almost impossible not be be dancing.  It's the very first song on a 3-CD collection called Cream Collect Balearic.  Highly recommended.

Unclelonghair, you're right on all three counts...well, maybe not "surprisingly bad." A lot of recent David Byrne is reliably, predictably bad. And it does go on forever--9:36. Even the slower versions of the first movement of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony clock in under that, and Beethoven had so much more to say.

By about 9:34 in my view. Truly David Byrne is the Pseudy Ponce's Pseudy Ponce. A darling of the chatterati and hipsters and arty review shows, but ultimately with the substance of a Will Self and the same degree of self-importance. An auto-rate 1 and TFFPSD.

Again, the remixes of the song sound better to me - and yes, they sound good in a club - I recommend "finding" the mix with Xpress2. I heard that mix first, then this original version, and I certainly like the mix more...

Technically perfect, excellent production, spiritually empty. Missing that spark. Like a jazz or classical musician that hits tons of notes but says nothing. Clever but anoying. If I never heard it again that would be fine.

I liked the Talking Heads but this song sucks. 1. way too long and repetitive. 2. his vocals are the same few sliding riffs that were creative in the original TH songs but now he is just endlessly recycling his old tricks over and over and over and over and (you get the idea). Sucks. Totally. PLEASE QUIT PLAYING IT SO MUCH!!

I don't think this is credited to David Byrne, nor is it from the album Grown Backwards. Rather, it's a group called "X-Press 2" that David liked and did vocals for on this one track three years ago ( https://www.talking-heads.net/lazy.html ) I really liked the original version of this track. The version on RP yesterday was stripped down a little too much.
