Don't think sorry's easily said
Don't try turning tables instead
You've taken lots of Chances before
But I ain't gonna give any more
Don't ask me
That's how it goes
'Cause part of me knows what You're thinkin'

Don't say words you're gonna regret
Don't let the fire rush to your head
I've heard the accusation before
And I ain't gonna take any more
Believe me
The sun in your Eyes
Made some of the lies worth believing

I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't Need to see any more
To know that
I can read your mind
I can read your mind
I can read your mind
I can read your mind

Don't leave false Illusions behind
Don't Cry cause I ain't changing my mind
So find another fool like before
Cause I ain't gonna live anymore believing
Some of the lies while all of the Signs are deceiving

I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't Need to see any more
To know that
I can read your mind
I can read your mind
I can read your mind
I can read your mind

I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't Need to see any more
To know that
I can read your mind
I can read your mind
I can read your mind
I can read your mind

I never listened to the lyrics in the AP version, but I caught a couple lines here and there on this one, and there are some nice ones.

Uh, I think is is about security cameras at casions, keeping an eye (in the sky) on players so they don't cheat. Obviusly there is much allegory going on about wider philosopical issues. The original album title is Turn of a Friendly Card, and deals with the concepts of gambling and chance.

I agree, this song truly belongs to Alan Parsons.

THIS IS CRAP
{#Drunk}Bill we know you have a fetish for quirky remakes of glop from the early 80s but c'mon buddy, you need to reign it in once in awhile.

TOTALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

This young lady needs her own material. Some original stuff ... otherwise she'll never be taken really seriously.. I was sorta zoning.. and her voice came through before her lyrics and I realized this chick with a truly awesome voice was singing a song I should recoginize.. now I'm gonna make it a two errand trip downtown tomorra..  one more to buy this album  I like the hardcopy...

From the first measure I LOVE THIS wonderfully understated cover of my favorite Alan Parsons song. Thank You RP.

There are not many songs that Jonatha Brooke does that I dislike. I think I like the APP version better. This is an interesting interpretation. But I think it would get old fast.

Anybody hear a little Lisa Loeb.  Anyone remember Lisa Loeb?!

Hmmm. I'm not typically fond of covers, but this album cover is very attractive.
Absolutely lovely version of the deeply annoying original.

An 8 from me
...so much overexposure to the original that i can't make any sort of objective assessment...
I feel it's not fair to rate, since the associations of 80s cheese are just too powerful. Maybe this version is really good, and I just can't hear it! {#Ask}
I played this song (in a style more like the Alan Parsons version) 6 nights a week, for many months, in a cover band many years ago. Liked it then, like it now. This version works for me, too.
This is the first time I have heard this haunting song, and I feel deeply affected by it. Now I will try and have a pop at the APP version. Tell me it is not all overblown keyboards and synths.
I admit I've just clicked away to NPR to get away from this screeching. i am the eye in the sky hu hi hi hiiiiyiiiiii someone please give me a call when it's over, so i can switch my player back to radio paradise from NPR's new talk show about knitting, "All Knots Considered." It's better than this, really.
Sorry. Doesn't work for me. As mentioned, play the original.

I loved the original song, that version is hurting me !!! PLEASE, PLEASE play the original versions <-o<
I've always loved this song. And I, for one, think this a very enjoyable tribute to it.
I'm in the minority, it would seem, but I really like this. The first time I heard it on RP, I was kind of half listening, and thought, hey, don't I like this song? Yeah, I think I kind of remember it, but wasn't it kind of a guilty pleasure? It was some overdone early 80's track, with lotsa keyboards, right? So what's up with this? It's intimate and timeless. I certainly don't mean to diss APP. "Eye in the Sky" is a great song, with really intriguing lyrics. But I think Brooke's take on it is haunting, a great update and a nice compliment to the original. I enjoy the original even more than I had because Brooke's version caused me to consider the song beyond the superficial groove.

I *knew* I'd heard this horrendous whining before. That 10-cent wings track is truly painful. Hearing this cover for the second time dropped it from a 4 to a 3, knowing that it's connected to someone that bleated that $0.10 wings garbage dropped it to a 2. Awful.
I like it. It doesn't diminish the original in any way, IMHO. Okay, so now can an APP fan upload the original for comparitive purposes?
Very NIIICE! i like both original and this one!! cheesy? maybe LOL but nice! Thanks Oscar

......and Guns & Roses "Live and let Die"
Yes, that was very weak. Tainted the otherwise excellent soundtrack to "Grosse Pointe Blank."
Maybe this song spoke to her and that's why she felt compelled to record it. I have to admit, back a few years ago, APP spoke to me. The group spoke to my graduating class in that they chose an APP song so that it will always haunt us a reunions or remind us of those gawdawful days when we hear it.........other than that, APP was interesting. I am interested enough in JB's voice to check out the other offerings as suggested by others here.

Agreed that APP does it better, still it's good to hear it done differently. APP tends to be a pretty heavily produced sound. Still, this song works almost as well with a minimalist approach. I'm not sure her voice is the best to do this song. She reminds me a little of Alanis M. It gets a 6.
Ok....if I was drunk and in some cowboy bar then I may consider this minutely acceptable, but please......don't butcher up a beautiful song, just because you like it. What is it with people wanting to do cover songs? They need to keep them in their own private collection. Wether or not they need a starting point for their singing. Case in point-this cat wailing one, and Guns & Roses "Live and let Die"

This was one of my all time favorite Alan Parson's Project tunes... I agree this is not as good, but I like it almost as well.

First time I've heard Jonatha - I thought it was quite compelling. I'll be looking in to her other music after hearing that one.
Yikes! Sounds like a "very special episode" of Family Ties where Mallory Keaton performs on dad's public television pledge night.
This is bizarre.
Is this a joke? I hated the original. This is better in that...it's not the original.
This is one the worst JB efforts to come down the pike, and I L-O-V-E Jonatha. Why she chose this loser track to cover, I'll never know. Her prior efforts are much, much more worthy, especially tracks off "10 Cent Wings" that feature Gerry Leonard (Bowie, et al.) on guitar. I encourage you to listen to other Jonatha tracks, especially pre-"Circus", to fully appreciate what she's all about.
Objectively speaking, this is crrrrrrrap. I'd like to know why this cover is good to go, but we can't hear the original? I only see three Alan Parsons cuts even uploaded. How is THAT right?
Quite not bad :)
I agree...in fact, Ten Cent Wings is one of my faves...
To me, it's a shame that of the only two songs in RP's playlist, this has to be one of them. I'm a big fan of Jonatha Brooke's songs. HER songs. My biggest disappointment with her last album was the inclusion of three covers, one of which was this song. It's not a terrible song to cover, but I think she does her original songs so much better than she does covers.

Not sure I get all the negative comments. Seems a capable cover to me.
I always liked the original pretty well, but actually like like this version even better. My first exposure to Jonatha Brooke. Fit really nicely with The Replacements' "Skyway" (one of my all time favorites) in the set I heard it in . . .
PARSONS' covers...neat! An 8. Went to see AP in a Chicago concert when The Bulls were doing well, played SIRIUS, house went NUTS! Good show.
Geez, tough crowd........ I've always been a big fan of Jonatha, including this. Don't really see what is so bad about this.
I have to disagree with you bunch a chauvinist whiners..I like it, so there..now destroy me...
I am a die-hard AP fan, and this was one of my favorite albums back in the day. I can't shake away from the original mix and settle in to enjoy this version. Sorry, some things just shouldn't be covered. It's a shame, because she seems to have a decent voice.
As they say, you can't polish a turd. Why don't you just call it "Operation Wang Chung"?

Yep, this is one that was not exactly crying out for a cover. Ugh. Sounds like Alanis Morrisette with PMS.

What a remarkably lovely improvement.
Incredible...Even better than Alan's...Thanks Bill dude
Not thrilled by this version. I saw Jonatha in Woodstock recently and was really not impressed. I like her earlier stuff but this album seems a little bit too commercial.
Great cover, I love it! Off to Amazon I go.... Please play this one more often.
One of the nicest songs I've heard all night!! Thanks!
Nice cover--I think it surpasses the original in poigniancy.
A terrific cover :D
Terrible original. And the cover is equally bad.
Great cover! I am such a sucker for the female voice!
Never heard her before, sounds kinda like Lisa Loeb, but much better control of her voice.
:verysorry: Why do I have to hear this song on this nice day? bad...very bad...
I like this version even more than the original. Which is why I gave it a 3 instead of a 2.
Welp...that does it. I'm buying this album. Never really heard the lyrics before until I heard this version. REALLY nice!
The case of Jonatha Brooke is one of the great mysteries of the world to me - she is an absolutely outstanding artist who has recorded some very original, beautiful, and accessible music. She is fantastic in concert (saw her at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA). And yet, she labors in obscurity. Why? The least we could do is get her some more airtime at RP, where she is a perfect fit.
Doesn't have the passion and power of the AP version but Jonatha still performs it flawlessly and adds a very unique touch. quite likeable.
A good time to take a break from RP and check on the world news.
This song is beautiful...and better than the original as well. Puts a tear to my eye.
I always thought the original over-produced and somewhat campy. This rendition made me really pay attention to the lyrics and the soul of the song. Nice work on Jonatha's part.
When I heard that she did this cover (as well as James Taylor's "Fire and Rain") on her new album, I was skeptical to say the least. But she pulled it off. Jonatha Brooke is one of the only singer/songwriters that is able to give me goosebumps just by listening to her stuff. This song is one of them. Many on her Live album do that as well-- West Point, Always, Annie... all amazing songs. If you don't have this album, buy it-- it is solid, top to bottom.
3 because it is better than the original
I never cared much for the original, but this version is really captivating. I love her voice.
Let's follow this up with some real Alan Parsons.
I wonder if Alan Parsons likes this song... or Dr. Evil... WOOT!
So interpretative! And emotive!
I like her a lot from The Story, and this song is just great...I had to raise from a 7 to an 8..
so many songs bare their true souls when stripped down like this. Incredible...
this song makes me cry, no matter who sings it. this is a good thing. i love it when music does that to me. the original is my favorite, but i've never heard a cover of this that i didn't like.
I like Jonatha Brooke, I like this song, but I think I like the original version better.
So many of her own great songs, would love to see those played more. Lyrical quote from one of hers, "My mother moved the furniture when she could no longer move the man." And her great stuff with The Story. More of their original stuff pretty please.

Nice, but I'd prefer something closer to the AP rendition, tempo-wise. Interesting though. This has an entirely different atmosphere about it, darker.
Oh my. Just two months later and I'm totally entranced. This tempo suits our evening dominoes game on the deck, under a starry sky, with adult beverages. Lovely.

Roughing the listener. 10 song penalty.
This version seems like it has more emotion than the Alan Parsons version.
Very good, but I much prefer the Alan Parsons version
Nice. I love her voice and this is a cool remake. So soft and gentle.
