I've never known a girl like you before
Now, just like in a song from days of yore
Here you come a-knocking, knocking on my door
And I've never met a girl like you before

You give me just a taste so I want more
Now my hands are bleeding and my knees are raw
'Cause now you got me crawling, crawling on the floor
And I've never known a girl like you before

You made me acknowledge the devil in me
I hope to God I'm talking metaphorically
Hope that I'm talking alegorically
Know that I'm talking about the way I feel
And I've never known a girl like you before
Never, never, never, never
Never known a girl like you before

This old town's changed so much
Don't feel that I belong
Too many protest singers
Not enough protest songs
And now you've come along
Yes, you've come along
And I've never met a girl like you before

Man, this song has aged well, especially for a relatively weird tune that it is.

It also sounds like it could have come out of any of the last 6 decades.
Wow, I never knew he was the singer from Orange Juice ..... before

Oh, yawn!
Given this has been compared (note: NOT  that it is, but COMPARED TO) Bowie and Genesis - its a great song.  You are entitled to your opinion - just like the rest of us.
Oddly enough, you appear to be in the minority. You might wanna think about before your next troll - or just PSD and move on....
It's kind of incredible to me that I never heard this song until about 2016.  1994?  Guess US radio was too fixated on shoveling Coolio and Hootie & the Blowfish on audiences.

Whatever you say donald trump.
Thought the line was Too many broad assed singers.....

Is this where the Black Keys got their "Kazoo" guitar sound?

That "fuzz" guitar sound was around long before this tune, but it does seem like The Black Keys took note of this song.
excellent
simpre pense que era david bowie !!!  en todo caso muy bueno !! gracias radio paradise ustedes son gigantes gracias por existir !!
I've known a girl like her before
Is this where the Black Keys got their "Kazoo" guitar sound?
Pastiche
This song has really held up over the years - what's old is new again (Black Keys?)
Awesome sequence, from The Cure to this, it blended perfectly  :-D
Great song.  I guess he was a bit of a one-hit wonder, but I enjoy this whenever it comes on.

Wrong Collins. But good band with Peter Gabriel as front man.

FAKE.  CLICHE.  NOT BOWIE, NOT EVEN CLOSE.

The freaky sound....good lyrics... what's not to love

Seldom have I heard an artist try to emulate an icon more than Collins. Don't get me wrong. If you can mimic Bowie, you a member of an elite club. Derivative, yes. Bad, no.

Never known a song to include the words "metaphorically" and "allegorically" — both — in the lyrics before.

I've always thought this was Iggy Pop.  In fact, I was actually surprised to find out it wasn't.

This threw me because I was sure it was on that soundtrack. I guess maybe I was confused cuz Edwyn sounds a little like the singer from Urge Overkill?

It is on the soundtrack to Empire Records tho.

One of those songs that never gets dated; definitely one of my favourites.

It's great to hear this again.
I don't know if Edwyn is still performing, I hope so.
Love this song!
On occasion I hear a song I have no idea how to rate.  So I went with a 6 to give credit where it may be due.

Me 3!
Thank you for playing this, I love this song Billy Boy!
Now I finally know who sang this.
I think I've always been in the car and had to turn off the radio for one reason or another thereby never hearing who it was, and forgetting to look it up on the computer when I got home (though now I've finally got a smartphone equipt with Shazam, so that doesn't happen very pften anymore). So kudos to RP for the music and all the features thereof.
One-derful one-hit wonder! Very fuzzy.
Puts me in a great mood.  Thanks RP!
Yeah, baby!  Always loved this jamming gem; sounds like Ben Orr and David Bowie!  Was so good then, and seems even tastier now!
{#Bananasplit}{#Dancingbanana_2}  JAMMING! VOLUME WAY UP!! HELL WITH THE NEIGHBORS!

I guess so. Count me among the people who thought it was Bowie all this time. Good Bowie, tho, not China Girl Bowie.
What a wonderful blast from the past!

Never underestimate the power of a simple guitar hook.
Sounds like something that could easily be used in a Quentin Tarantino movie...like Pulp Fiction or something...like it.
In former days each bobbing up and down party started up with this!
A cracker from a very brave man.

Who are you calling a one-hit-wonder? Bowie? Collins is a stalwart. Check out "Rip it up" from his Orange Juice days.
I imagine a woman dancing 'the jerk' to this song...very 60's
See these eyes so green
Eyes like candles, burning bright

It was used to great affect in a Charlie's Angels movie...

And to wondrous effect in Empire Records.

Bowie sucks! Oh wait...
Every time I hear this tune I think of it as a long lost Bowie track.
Cool stuff.
I really like fuzz guitar!  OK, so I'm a child of the 60s.

Interesting mix with the Bowie-esqe vocals and the fuzz box.

Excellent.

Great song!  This takes me back to one of the few good memories of the 90s.  Lots of tragedy, big & small.  Some of the more adventurous music in the 90s helped a lot!
Love it! Haven't heard this one in years

after less than a couple of seconds the "bass variation" initiates considerable headaches....
