Agreed. Sounds like one of the weaker Nash efforts from CSN. Or one of the many CSN wannabes. Wait, maybe that's what they are, just 35 years too late.

This is just a tiny, perfect gem of a song.  In that way it reminds me of Suzanne Vega's "Blood Sings".

If this were a current band, I see this as barely a 4.  But 1989!!  Nice work.  Extreme had a few songs comparable.  I give it a 6.  There is something to be said for critical appreciation within the context in which it was produced.

The Beatles, for example ; )

I saw Kevin Kane, guitarist for GOW, at a small venue a couple weeks ago. Don't pass up a oppurtunity to see this gifted singer songwriter. Great crowd interaction.

Bumped into the Hoopers in a mall in Kelowna, BC on a high school band trip in the early eighties when they were part of the local BC punk rock scene as Gentlemen of Horror. GoW is a little more playable on RP. Seems like such a long time ago.

Good memories for me, too. I remember seeing these guys as Luv Affair on Seymour Street in the 80s. Got my car towed that night, so it was a bit of a drag when I came out, but a great show.

They had some success in Vancouver. I saw a virtually unknown Sarah McLachlan open for them in a tiny theatre circa 1989. (. . . and the rest is history . . .)

So, back about 20 years ago or so, I helped a friend move. He had this absolutely hideous ceiling light fixture that was essentially a gigantic cluster of plastic grapes. It was hideous, even for the 80's. I called it the grapes of wrath. I will forever think of that, regardless of what context "grapes of wrath" comes up in.

Years after they disbanded, I was talking to one of the band members on his set break from a show at the Railway Club in Vancouver (great show, great venue, BTW). I told him that in university my girlfriend and I used to frequently "get busy" listening to Grapes of Wrath albums. Without batting an eye, he deadpans back "Well I'm glad it worked for you". Classic!

The Hooper brothers tried to continue under the band name, 'Ginger'. Ooops, didn't work! A reunion with Kevin kane would be awesome.
