Well it's hot in the yard
And it's cool in the bed
And I whip the blankets into cotton thread
And I'll tear all the carpet up over my head
'Til my feet can go right through the basement

Well you play so surprised at what you have found
But I heard you coming from way across town
So let's get to getting to burning it down
And the fire, it's spreading like madness

'Cause I'm steeped in this pleasure
I've snapped from my tether
That the nation may vibrate apart
And you lead me again to the back of the line
And we'll work our way slow to the start

When the dishes are broken and the kitchen's a mess
I'm trapped in the door
Why don't you make me confess
'Cause I'm tastin' delicious
To just keep you guessin'
Whatever it is, that ignites me

'Cause I'm steeped in this pleasure
I've snapped from my tether
That the nation may vibrate apart
And you lead me again to the back of the line
And we'll work our way slow to the start
Yes we'll work our way slow to the start

When instinct is dirty and morality's clean
And we're bound for damnation say those magazines
Well to hell with the sorrow and watered-down scenes
We'll burn us a bridge straight to heaven.

'Cause I'm steeped in this pleasure
I've snapped from my tether
That the nation may vibrate apart
And you lead me again to the back of the line
And we'll work our way slow to the start
Yes we'll work our way slow to the start

Yes. I know, gentlemen.
Heeeeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaawwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't get the image of Bart Simpson singing out of my head whilst this is on.
I thought it wasn't for me and now I know why {#Angel}

Man, Hank Williams had more cool than 90% of Nashville does today. Bob Wills (technically 'Western', not 'Country') was so cool he could bring HORNS to the Opry. Waylon and Willie, Merle, on and on.

Point is, there is 'Nashville' country and there is country that, well, doesn't suck. Labels are for cans, not music.

Speaking of cans... drool...

Bart Simpson sings Country music....MUTE!

Uhm.... Nah, she makes country sound horrible...

I like Neko and her voice, but not with this...

Yeah, bet she's one who likes proper spelling...

The diversity of talent provided by the Who, Tull and yes, even Robert Palmer could keep me involved and enthused for hours whereas I simply have not heard that same kind of diversity from Neko. Not a hater as I enjoy her work but the 3 aforementioned artists have a much deeper combined history...bottom line: I trust Bill's mixes.

Well they have been around a few decades more.
Let's wait a few decades and see what Neko can do.

My Christmas card list is now one name shorter.  Thanks a FREEKING LOT for that!

I think she went through a kind of David Lynchian / macabre phase around the time of this album.  Not that her music could really be called upbeat, but now she seems to be in the "red head pinup" phase.

She takes my breath away in both phases — guess I'm a fan. I can listen to her sing all day long.

Relax!  If you keep your ears open, that might not happen!  This is the first time I've heard this song if that makes any difference.{#Wave}
Normally I really enjoy Neko Case, but this song gives me a headache. It makes me think that Neko, her boyfriends, and I all need to switch to decaf.

Neko Case is an angel descended to Earth. RP could play her all day - I'd never get bored. Hey, maybe RP could stop playing Jethro Tull and the Who and Robert Palmer a bit and substitute them with Neko. A vast improvement.

A great playlist this day/evening and this is a great tune with a even greater band.

That's fine, more Neko on RP is OK by me and I don't care if there's less Robert Palmer, but just leave the Who and our Jethro alone!  {#Snooty}

I think she's still over-compensating for the Playboy photoshoot, at the start of her career. I don't think I've seen a photo of her since where she even makes eye contact.

Well, that was bad.  Not as bad as some of her other stuff but still mediocre.  4.
Oh boy, I LOVE!!! Neko, even with that twangy manure kickin' geetar backup....Love the way she just stands there and lets that voice pour out.
she's my girlfriend

I typically don't like this style of artwork (and i am an artist myself), but something about Neko's pale skin, leather, concrete and the bend of her hand ....gives me shivers...in a good way...plus i know shes not really dead....lol...she does seem sweet too...it's just the body of work that seems dark...never said anything about aggression BKardon wrote:

Shoot, I wouldn't deny a certain level of yearning. I can't get enough of that voice. But hey, I like the visuals too (artwork, you dirty person). I buy the whole package, even the dark lyrics. It doesn't hurt that she hangs with so many K-A musicians.

From what I've been able to tell she's got a very intensely...macabre artistic sense. Her web site artwork, album cover artwork, tour tshirts, etc. all have that sort of "wtf?" sensibility! My friend said to me, upon seeing her tour tshirts on sale when last we saw her perform, it's as if Picasso decided to take up the guitar. Awe-inspiring talents in one art don't necessarily translate smoothly to other artistic mediums! Yup. So, y'know I wish she'd kinda stick to singing/playing/songwriting and back away from the weirdly disturbing photography/artwork!

I'm going to see her in concert here in Denver on Thursday. I'm so excited to see her live.
I think her boyfriends killed her. FilmSurgeon wrote:

"...i'm goin' to Jackson"...Neko Cash!
A great song from Neko's best album. FURNACE ROOM LULLABYE is a masterpiece. Not a duff track on it. Thanks Bill.
well.....slap my leg and stomp my feet!~
I like it! Not sure I like the album cover though. Anyone know the back story to it?
This is a great album. I love Neko!
I keep expecting to hear her break out into "I'm Going to Jackson". Very derivative.
Like Lucinda Williams, Neko started out very country.
After a few years in the Vancouver BC punk scene. As a drummer to boot.
I don't mind the other Neko I've heard, but this one is not stellar.
She is a marvel ..more Neko!
Her stuff just flat out works for me! (Yeah, yeah, I know – someone will reply, "Her stuff just flat out doesn't work for me!)

He played my request!! Yay!!! Thanks Bill!

Hey! This is new for me - another great find from Radio Paradise where the surprises never end - VIVA LA DIFFERENCE !
thought this was played here before. guess not!
Sweet! Some Neko not from Fox Confessor! This is a great album, and this song is such a wonderful showcase for her energy and awesome voice.
This is Neko? Wow, what a musical range!
