So Canadian and tight. Because I am one of those. He must be considered one of the best guitarists of the last 30 years. So good.

Good question.  NAFTA and the de-industrialization of eastern Canada could have inspired this song.

I happen to like Mexicans and think that NAFTA overall is a good thing for all involved partners.

This song appears to pre-date NAFTA. But jobs were moving to Mexico (and elsewhere) long before NAFTA.
c.

Bruce always on the vanguard of the Achilles heel of capitalism/globalism. Here on the North Coast the "mighty trucks of daylight" are rolling on out of here with massive cuts of timber, as in the Amazon, the temperate rainforests are under siege. Meanwhile science tells us we need all the carbon sequestration we can get, and its getting hotter every year.

I saw him a couple of time at le Hibou in '60s. Everyone loved him. I can 't count the number of show since then but never disappointed.

Nice.  I am envious!  In a good way.
Not bad, not bloody bad at all...7.

Was Bruce talking about NAFTA?     Free Trade ie: North American Free Trade Agreement  ?

Nice to see the appreciation and love for Bruce Cockburn.

Friends of mine from high school saw Bruce booed off the stage at Le Hibou café near the Byward market in Ottawa.

I have seen him in both his acoustic and harder rockin' phases.   Terrific concerts.

Do I sense a truck theme coming along?

Camions Sauvage
Mighty Trucks of Midnight
Wonder what could be next?
{#Motor} Sorry, I'll just be trucking along.........

Fave Cockburn song....Klein bass line amazing
I believe it's a sin to try and make things last forever
Everything that exists in time runs out of time some day
Got to let go of the things that keep you tethered
Take your place with grace and then be on your way.

I left the room for a minute, and before I even got back to the computer, I knew this was Bruce Cockburn.  I am a true admirer of his entire body of work. I can't think of a single song he's written that was a "throwaway."  Having proclaimed my undying love for his music, I can only add that I love this song.

Ditto
Can't say enough about this gem of an album.

Hasn't been played in years AND I'd never rated it. Love this album, song and BC.
