Baby Britain feels the best
Floating over a sea of vodka
Separated from the rest
Fights problems with bigger problems

Sees the ocean fall and rise
Counts the waves that somehow didn't hit her
Water pouring from her eyes
Alcoholic and very bitter

For someone half as smart
You'd be a work of art
You put yourself apart
And I can't help until you start

We knocked another couple back
The dead soldiers lined up on the table
Still prepared for an attack
They didn't know they'd been disabled

Felt a wave a rush of blood
You won't be happy 'til the bottle's broken
And you're out swimming in the flood
You kept back you kept unspoken

For someone half as smart
You'd be a work of art
You put yourself apart
And I can't help you until you start

You got a look in your eye
When you're saying goodbye
Like you wanna say hi

The light was on but it was dim
Revolver's been turned over
And now it's ready once again
The radio was playing "Crimson and Clover"

London bridge is safe and sound
No matter what you keep repeating
Nothing's gonna drag me down
To a death that's not worth cheating

For someone half as smart
You'd be a work of art
You put yourself apart
And I can't help until you start

For someone half as smart
You'd be a work of art
You put yourself apart

Yup.... unfortunately it was never "getting better all the ti-i-ime" for poor Elliot.
We are so very fortunate that this terribly tortured young man graced us with his genius time and again. Can you imagine what his restless, creative energy might have produced?
oh, i love this.
Come on RP its 22:45 here in Uk and Im falling aslezzzzzzp

Trivial...
Oh that rhythm guitar..........{#Angel}
I thought this was a bit of a dead spot between Crowded House and Anna Turnheim. It seems a bit of a tip of the hat to older tunes, but it didn't really grab me at all. I yawned at one point, never a good sign. No rating until I hear it a few more times.

I Love Elliott Smith{#Roflol} Great Artist! RIP♥

Very nice. I just learned that QOTSA is covering Christian Brothers.

I thought it was a pretty cool cover, true to the original but with those trademark QotSA vocals/harmonies.  However I always thought that song would sound good as a heavier, hard rock rendition.  Kind of like how Elliott used to play Needle in the Hay live.  Then I heard OSI's cover of it, which is basically what I wish the Queens of the Stone Age cover was like.  Here's a YouTube link to the OSI cover:

This guy was great. Thanks "Good Will Hunting" for introducing me.

I might actually have some time for his songs if he didn't sing. His voice is so weak, feeble and off-key that it just makes it unbearable.

Note to self: don't play any Coldplay for Atlantis. Or Counting Crows, Canned Heat, Van Morrison, Neil Young, or Gotye. Especially Gotye.

Or Okkerville River

YES! (Too bad he didn't feel that way...)

ahh, so good. so good.
My favorite ES song. Love the line about The Beatles' REVOLVER.
Very nice. I just learned that QOTSA is covering Christian Brothers.

Love the voice... love the lyrics. This is a fun song!
Um, it may SOUND fun, but the lyrics are anything but. A couple of pathetic drunks getting blasted, 'solving problems with bigger problems...' Don't get me wrong, I really like the song, but 'Elliot Smith' and 'fun' are hard to put in the same sentence. c.
"...Revolver's been turned over..."
It's getting better all the ti-i-ime...
I really like Elliott's "Waltz #2" from this album. I should look into it.
Love the voice... love the lyrics. This is a fun song!
