I'm down with that. Interesting segue from Tom Waits. Somebody out there is probably digging this song. It's not making me want to twist my own head off. (that's about the best I can do)

What kind of chips, chips.  Potato chips? Tortilla chips? Something else?  I don't know, but they are apparently beautiful and wonderful chips.

Genau!
This has a very special color to me : reminds me of Pierre Desproges, French humourist, when humour meant something else than just making fun of people. He used this tune as a generic music for his radiophonic show "Chronique de la haine ordinaire" in 85 or 86. He once said to Le Pen, "One can laugh about everything, but not with everyone". He made a wonderful and very accurate criticism of BHL, the national self proclaimed philosopher, just after the latter received a cream tart on his face and started to punch the man responsible for that once he was held on the floor by his personal guard...
Toute une époque...
Sounds like someone with Tourettes Syndrome trying to sing {#Beat}
Agree with the below comment that this remake for the best of is inferior to his original version. In fact had to reduce my rating after noticing that it was not the original version. Still a great tune.

Probably not what DSK is thinking right now.
I LOVE this song!!
I first heard this tune in a terrific German movie by director Sandra Nettelbeck, "Mostly Martha" (actually, its original title is ""Bella Martha", which translates from Italian as "Beautiful Martha").  I highly recommend this excellent movie.  It would be worth watching if for no other reason than its bouncy soundtrack, which includes many more gems like this one, perfectly married to the narrative.  Kudos to Bill and Rebecca for adding this song to the RP play list!

A word of caution:  If you can't understand spoken German, you'll have to read subtitles to supplement your understanding of the movie's visual story line.  So, if you're a subtitle snob, don't bother!

Yeah, I'll have some chips. Got any dip with them. And, a beer would go well with that.
It is, indeed, wonderful. 9
I love RP when they play stuff like this out of the blue
Awesome!
NOT FEELING IT.
Big Cronopio!

As soon as I hear the intro to this I think two things: (1) Chips, chips! (2) Yeah!
Spent a summer in Italy in Italy several years ago and Paolo was the soundtrack--I love this guy!

What in the Hell are you talking about? It's a song not an International Incident. Jeeze Louise.
Anybody have a quality copy of "It's a Green Dream" by this guy? That's a great song and I notice it's not in the library. Not sure if Bill would play it or not but it's a very cool tune.

Hey! As an American, I'd be happy if we had Cananda's medical system. I saw a hearbreaking segment on the news last night about a yearly health clinic that sets up shop three days a year in Western Virginia (not to be confused with West Virginia). It offers free healthcare to anyone who comes and is staffed entirely by volunteers. People started lining up at 3:00AM and by 9:00AM they had to cut the line off at 1250 people. People came from as far away as Ohio and Alabama. So as far as I'm concerned anyone who says we have the best healthcare system in the world either doesn't know what they're talking about or is lying to gain political points.
well, it just depends what the priorities are. It sounds really inhumane to turn people away for financial reasons or because they have no insurance. At the same time, should donors have a huge "DMV style" line waiting for surgery and organs and such, just so everyone is included? It's a very tough decision. I think the USA needs to put the insurance and drug industries in their places. Our government also needs to be stripped of all lobbyists. But the people of the USA also need to better educated about themselves, their minds and bodies. The medical system would therefore not be overburdened; people could take care of themselves for most things. Everyday people could avoid creating health problems by eating poorly, having drug habits, etc. There's guilt on both sides of the fence in the USA. I really hope that we can change how this place works in the next 40 years.
Doesn't really point out the "ineptitudes of socialism." It points out what happens when one free health clinic opens once a year in the destitute reaches of Appalachia. I don't think people in the US are waiting any shorter than folks in Canada or the UK for health care - those 60% of us who can afford the over-priced access. And besides, as I understand it, in many socialized health care systems, you can actually still see a doctor of your choosing - it just costs extra. Just because it's not the American way doesn't mean it's the wrong way. flyboy wrote:

Meraviglioso sentire Paolo Conte che suona su una radio (sulla mia radio...) che Ú di là dell'Oceano!
Ah, hell, he's just singing nonsense, but that's OK, it's a fun song.
Two items about Paolo: 1) A woman named Maria introduced me to him and to Cesaria Evora. "Anyone who can appreciate Billie Holiday as much as you must know this artist," she said, and she was right. Maria was an immigrant from Europe and was a furniture designer. She was also the coolest, most sophisticated woman I ever met. I'm very sorry I lost touch with her. 2) One day, my boyfriend at the time and I were in a local record shop and this song began playing overhead. I told him that I really loved Paolo's music and voice. "I don't know," he said, "He sounds constipated to me." He then began thumbing through a stack of Troma videos. I knew that the relationship would never make it past six months at that moment.

Maybe Bill announced this wrong, but twice I heard him say it was Paolo Conte, yet the lyrics repeated (ad nauseam) "'ts wonderful, 'ts wonderful." Whatever song it was that had those lyrics had use of brass that was irritating, and I am glad it is over.
