Jeff Sheldon, leader of this band, is a busy man. Check out his new outfit The Well Wishers. More excellent Power Pop! He also has a great weekly show on KSCU-FM he DJ's. https://player.fm/series/power...

Perhaps they should combine their talents and become the Wailin' 'n' Spinnin' Jennies . . . or not.

I don't think Steven Wilson's gonna move in next door or anything so I'm safe.

Quite. I've had a couple of artists come back on comments I've made, which luckily were complimentary :). Just obey the golden rule of online fora and you'll be ok: never say behind the keyboard what you wouldn't say to someone face to face. Makes for a civilised discussion board too.

Nice rocky-retro number this - 7 from the Nottingham jury.

An excellent rule to follow!
Even without the keyboard.

It did to me, too, at first - then it started to sound a little like a less-frenzied Lindsey Buckingham. And then I finally just gave up and fell into the song.  I really, REALLY like it!!!

very nice power pop...well done!

This song is really cheesy, I like it!{#Clap}

Nice garage band sound, I bet they sound great live.

Kinda catchy though, so it gets a 3.

{#Lol} Good one! I totally agree....3 from me as well. I came in late...are there any other lyrics besides the chorus? Ho-hum indeed!

My two favorite kinds of music... Power and Pop!

Was expecting them to sound like the Waylin' Jennies not the Connells.

Ha. That's exactly what I gave this song. Self-fulfilling prophecy? {#Ask}

Yes!  That's what I was thinking of — "Starry Eyes".

I like the song...but terribly amatuerish album cover.  Did somebody in the band let their neice or nephew do it in art class?  Tragic.

Wasn't really paying attention and thought Bill was playing the Rubinoos.
It's a r-r-r-r-r-rocker!  Jump

REM jangly guitar + Fleetwod Mac vocals?
Great 80's rock, like by the Records!
I like it.  You can dance to it.  A frenetic dance, maybe.

This is great! Sounds like early-mid 80s power pop. REM? Nooo...
Just changed from 7 to 6. I mean, it's really just okay. Eh?
Another Pleasant Valley Sunday

I thought it was Radio Free Europe at first and then thought WTF, two REM songs back to back?
Just average (5). Sounds like so many other bands but not enough like themselves. First sign of demise-lack of originality. I don't hear REM or the Ramones but to each their own. That said, not a bad song and a welcome (if played rarely) addition to this lovely little radio station high in the mountains of CA.

This is good - but quite like Carrie Dunno if anyone knows them?

I think this is the only power pop song allowed to be played on Paradise. It sure sounds good! Just think if they played more.

Do these guys tour? Can't tell from their website.
I like their sound, but not the lyrics of this particular song. Pretty weak. I'd like to hear some of their other songs. Like the guitar in this one...
Holy Rhyming couplets bat-man Its like the Bryan Adams school of song writing I have a say I got some hay dad says get a job He says Im just a slob Chorus Nananana

wow got this back to back with another horrible repetitive rem song...bad streak i guess
Has that late 60's exuberance and optimism. Even the cover art reminds me of Peter Max (was that his name?) Anyway would like to hear more...

Sadly it's not there anymore, I'd love to get just this one song, can't find it anywhere to download. I don't really want to spend $15 to see if I would like the other songs.
Sounds a bit like R.E.M

Very good "power pop" ...more of that please!
This song actually reminds me of the late 70's band Off Broadway. Their '79 debute album is very good! As an earlier message states, "funny we all hear different bands in this".
thoroughly adequate.

That's a nice big guitar sound alright. Twould sound great in a bar or a small club.

does sound a lot like early REM...those jangly geetars! ;)
Just clicked thru and ordered it from scamazon. Great sounding tuneage.
I kind of liked this song, but surely the expression in the title could be simplified. Mathematica gives me "2" as a replacement.

i purchased this and i'm glad i did. what a great disk!
R.E.M. meets the Go-Gos. Never heard this song before, but I sure do like it. Nice, solid rhythm section, good vocals - the kind of song that makes you tap your foot, break into a silly grin, and say, "This is a good song - wonder who does it?" Thanks, Bill and Rebecca. You've really been playing some excellent schtuff these days!

Good power pop. If ya dig these guys check out Sloan.

I remember "discovering" these guys several years ago on mp3.com, back in the days when mp3.com was actually a cool place for indie bands to keep their music for free. I had created a Waltenstein Radio station there, comprised of all the bands I liked when I surfed around on the site. These guys were one of my favorites, even if they are a bit more poppy than my usual tastes. I'm really glad to see they're still around!
I was the one that put them on MP3.COM, as well as a few other music promotion sites, not to mention uploading this song here as well. Funny thing is (well, not funny, but sad), I also uploaded some more songs by them here, that I think are even better than this one, and they all got rejected! Even though they all got way good thumbs up reviews on the listener review channel. I started to do a website for them way back when, but I never got on the ball with it and I'm not sure what happened exactly, but it never got finished. They have a website now, that I had nothing to with, but sadly, they are no longer together as a band. (click here)

Aren't these guys from Phoenix/Tempe? I think I used to see them at the same bar (Long Wong's) where the Gin Blossoms and the Meat Puppets used to play...somewhere in the mid '90's. :-k Does anyone else know?
Nope! They WERE from the San Francisco area. They sadly called it quits last year (2004).
ahh haa! got it at amazon for a lot fairer price than awhile back. this will make a good addition to my power pop collection.

I got mine on amazon.com. If you like power pop (Tommy Keene, Cast, etc.), it's wonderful.
never heard these guys before, but it's a good pop sound, I like, but probably in small doses if I start listening to them.
it's better than hearing a band that's 'just like' Christina Aguilera or Britney Spears, etc.

No big deal - but a nice fun pop tune. Whew - don't need to go to aerobics now. - Riff
This is an awesome! Sure is an energy booster as I have to get ready for work now! Thanks for playing! Please play more often!
Pop, Pop, Tootsie Pop.....Dad. :)

Kinda like Foo Fighters with a better singer. Decent tune.
Sometimes nothing but a shot o' pure pop will do!
Reminds me a bit of the Shoes. This would probably be better with a minute or so shaved off. Nonetheless, a likeable tune.
Good stuff. More "power pop" (cheesy label, but...). How about an old Artful Dodger tune or something from Shazam?

Bet your a Roger McGuinn(?) fan.
This is fun. Just what I needed on 1 hour of sleep and working on a deadline. Hooray for the power of music!!
StevenQ wrote:

Sure. The Ramones had guitars, these people have guitars. The Ramones had drums, these people have drums. Of course, the Ramones actually knew how to use them ... oh, yeah, and how to sing, too. (Don't mean to be mean, but you hit a nerve with the Ramones thing.)

The power of music--I was so tired I could barely move and then this song came on and I'm groovin'!! Thanks Bill for the instant energy.
I got it! They sound just like XTC! Yes --Shari
The singer reminds me a bit of Murray Attaway from Guadalcanal Diary....

Groovy. The music has a Cars-y kind of thing going. Well, somtimes. Now that I've heard a little more, I don't stand by that statement anymore. The singer's voice isn't that great though. Reminds me of Gladhands and Barely Pink.
Poor Jennie.... Only 3 teeth in her head and she loses one from all the spinning!

Interesting comment. I like REM a lot, just leave the singing to Stipe and his recked sinuses and everything is cool
