Lyrics:

You get out of my head now, honey
You get out of my head
You and your colors
You and your painting
I can forget you probably

You stay out of my way now, honey
You just stay out of my way
This is my Grace Coast
This is my homeland
You're always coming and going (but I always come back)

Let's talk about your freedom (I am drawn to this place, as I'm drawn to you)
Let's talk about my lack of it (as I'm drawn to you, as I'm drawn to you)
Let's talk about my feelings (a moth to the light)
Let's talk about your lack of them (to the light, to the light)
And you preach such beauty
You missed the point

You go down with your friends every day
You go down to the sea
Light on the water
For the light on the water
I work the whole day
You chase the light

Look out there
Can't you see what I see, what I see, what I see?

Go paint the ladies on the beach (they mean nothing to me)
With crinolines and parasols (they are part of the scenery)
(I don't know why you go on this way)
To shade their beautiful faces
From the sunlight that you love so well (I love you more, I love you more)
Isn't that funny? (No, I don't think that's funny)
I think it's funny

So, you get out of my head now, won't you?
Just stay out of my head
Move down the coastline
Move to a new town

And don't say you love me
What does that mean?
I don't want to keep you bottled in my glass
You are a free moth
Go chase the light and leave me so
Nice. Never heard it and it has been around a while. Thanks RP!
Her voice sounds too much like Tori Amos, I can never forgive her for that.
Very very pretty voice and a good tune, a great find
I changed my mind.
erase my seven and replace with eight.
very cool tune
love this band. Saw them live in Dallas oh so long ago...

I didn't realise that they have been in business for so many years. {#Ask}

Same voice, different music. Like the current style better.

You're right, they are Guilty!! Guilty of creating some very fine music....{#Mrgreen}

Beautiful poetry. Sad {#Sunny}
just such a nice feeling. I feel all floaty.
Is that me on (and under) the covers?
It's certainly "Timonia" to the right!

Every time time I hear this band I marvel at how fresh their music sounds. This song is 21 years old!
I wasn't going to rate this , but the melody just wont let me go.

Yep. That's what I thought when I first heard them. The Sundays with the pop turned down a couple notches.

good point.

I agree - sometimes she does sound similar.  I much prefer Harriet Wheeler, though - she's got the better voice.  Love love love The Sundays.

Really enjoy her voice. Nice tone, can't say I like the song that much though.

I like the bunny. Don't you like the bunny?

A long time favorite song and album.  It is from the self titled debut album, not the one shown here which is a childrens album.
Gorgeous all round. Song and voice.
like most TIM songs this is such sweet sweet tune ... OScar
A sublime song with a soft touch. Perfect timing after Streets of Philadelphia just now...Well done..makes one look in the middle distance in the middle of a work-day, which is hard to do....thank you!

reminds me of Jessi Colter's voice. kinda in the "I'm not Lisa" timeframe.
I can hear that... I can also hear Alanis.
Special. Is that a goose-bump I can feel?
quality americana!
I love this song more than just about any other that this band has done, and this is one of my top favorite groups. It's magical and tragic at the same time. I saw them play live at the Hatch Shell in Boston on the Esplanade way back on their _Glow_ tour, late 90s. They were amazing and wonderful. I wish that they were played more often. Thank you Bill, et. al. This song is a gem.
It took me a few years to figure out that I needed to stop trying to figure out why I liked this band and just be. There's probably something Zen in that, but I can't think about it.
i love you
I'm not quite sure how I can dislike the Sundays and enjoy Innocence Mission as much as I do. But I do.

IMO, this song is different from other stuff I have heard from IM...sounds like a return to the sound from the glow album. I like it. This album was inspired by lullabies, no?
the album cover that's shown is wrong. It should be the self-titled Innocence Mission album.

This is yet another rock band\'s foray into childrens\' music. My kids like it so I\'ll give it a 7.

I've thought that too but The Innocence Mission has been around quite a long time, so it's more like the other way around. I live in the same town as Karen Peris (IM vocalist) and she is very unique in many ways.
I haven't exactly researched it but I don't think the Innocence Mission has all that many years on the Sundays...maybe a couple.

I always liked this band but its an aquired taste.
Gosh that reads like a contradiction in terms.
mmm. i needed that.
How have I missed this all these years? Absolutely wonderful
Love this. Please play more Innocence Mission!
I was going to write that we hear this too much. Then I actually listened to it instead of having it in the background. Like it.

I was just thinking nearly the same thing - to me, the singer is like a cross between Tori Amos and Tanya Donnely.
I always liked this band but its an aquired taste.
I like the pianny and the solo vocal, but the chorus sounds like Bananaramma stopped by. Must.. resist.. nanner... emoticon...
These lyrics aren't very good

Like a Tori Amos clone, but for a fan like me, that's a good thing. Dig the piano.

this is linked to the wrong album - this song is a good dozen years old or so. it's either from 'innocence mission' or 'umbrella', can't remember.
if i rememer right, the innocence mission album was released ~'89/'90?
this song brings back a lot of memories for me. one of them being seeing them sing this live...

This song is actually from the "Innocence Mission" album... I don't own the album but I did search for the song on amazon.com
Moved up to a 9 btw.
Wow, thanks again. You GO Mari! 8.
It's somewhat reminiscent of The Sundays.
Sorry CB, I think the song fits the album cover perfectly. Good stuff. CBJr wrote:

wow, memories. I saw them several times in the late 80s
Look! A Bunny!
Pretty song. And I love that cover art.
1989. Man, this takes me back. First heard TIM on WRAS/Album 88 in Atlanta. Karen Peris has the most hauntingly beautiful voice. Thanks, RP, for putting this out there once again. So many great artists never get the chance to be heard.
I know it may be an inconsequential part of the song, but the drum tone on this, especially through headphones, is amazing!
I like it.
Sounds like Tori Amos.
Just doesn't do much for me at this moment.
Uhhhhh....is this Alanis Morissette's little sister singing?
Always loved this song! Reminds me of having just graduated from college. It was an uncertain time but this album helped me through it.
IM is a great part of the RP playlist. Such beautiful songs, so many I'd like to hear played more often. "Umbrella" and "Wonder of Birds" are two incredible tracks.
I swear this song gives me chills, always has, always will. Get turned onto Innocence Mission! They are masters of this imagery. They should definitely not be such a closely held secret. THANKS BILL and REBECCA!
Got an ABBA-esque thing goin'.... A 6.
Ah... such a pretty song. I need to go dig out my old Innocence Mission tapes. I had forgotten all about them. Thanks for bringing them to my attention again!
LOVE THIS BAND!!! This is a great album-reminds me of senior year in high school, driving around in my car. Would love to hear stuff from "Birds of my Neighborhood". Maybe I'll upload some songs.
Awesome. I have to go and find this CD in my collection. It's been awhile, but what a great album.
Beautiful. Favorite song from one of my favorite bands. Incredible lyrics and imagery.
ooohhh...I really like it and she has an interesting voice.
