This is so off tangent that when Nora kicks in it's like the end of the meal desert has arrived making it all OK    ;-)   I like it
So is there anything else worth hearing on this album? I love what RP plays, but are there other, maybe deeper, cuts out there by the makers of some of our favorite music? It's a little like the RP top 40s. Maybe RP could get a little more like early FM?
Mix out the flute and this would be stunning.  Heard it in the closing credits of a movie recently and I can't recall the name...

Quite dreadful, actually.
Fascinating blend of music, seems rather uplifting to me a unique dreamy blend.

I like Norah, but I have to agree that the intro is irritating - enough to rate this song a 1, and a request for a never play again.

I'm just glad Nora Jones has an inimitable style. I mean it in a bad way.

I don't know.....I can't see it. :)
Whoa...I thought this was Chameleon by Herbie Hancock at first. Sounded exactly like it.

This is very nice...Theres a track on this album with Saul Williams too that I'd love to hear on here....Saul is the bomb digity!

Wow, how slick is this! This is what Norah Jones was meant for. Not that she can't play (very much the opposite), but she sounds so enticing against this soundscape.
I would have played just after thievery corporation, Joan Aarmatrading just doesn't fit between these two 0.o
Tee hee I thought you were all talking about New Jersey, I'm thinking what does NJ have to do with Wax Poetic- Angels and OH!
The dog cracked me up. I kinda had the same expression when the yodel came on. Unlike others I enjoy a weird break though, now and then. 7
At first I thought I was hearing Herbie Hancock's Headhunter.
The french est un peu melodramatique, non? but i love NJ. love the rest, minus the intro. I have to get this CD.

It was interesting. This song would be nothing without Norah Jones though.

This album is fantastic. A long time favorite. I prefer "Homme."
I like it, NJ's voice can make any song sound fab.
Sounds Like Deep Forest meets Thievery Corp!!
Love the song, loathe the introduction. A 3.
where is the fast forward button?

Is that Norah's voice doing the French? Oh my oh my.
My dog sure is interested in the introduction at least! An 8 for me.
I like the weirdness of this song.
Just plain stupid.

We should lobby for the inclusion of a "0" option, or perhaps a giant finger....

I upped this to a nine, just as she started singing.. Her voice brings a great extra to the good music.

How sweet would it be if you followed this up with Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man."
I would love that, but it might be too much 'farting' for some apparently. We should probably specify the Headhunters take on that tune; Herbie also does an acoustic that's just as nice, but without the chirping at the beginning.

I had the chance to see Wax Poetic live in Istanbul at Babylon a couple of years ago. The sax guy, Ilhan Ersahin, also has a number of solo albums which are pretty good.
I want to strangle whomever is making that bird-calling sound at the beginning...arghh! Nails on the chalkboard!
Really nice.....but wasn't my last comment on a similar Saturday night? Says alot for me
Nice! Just caught it.
I had a dream about Norah Jones's dad, Ravi Shankar and Dave Mathews band last night. Ha Ha, I rock even in my sleep

No, can't have that!
I hope Jones collabs with these guys more often, I like this song better than anything she's done solo. It's got a great jazzy groove that I'm really digging.
This is an exceptionally trippy little get together. I even dig the yodelling.
Since it's just after 4:00, I was about to change the channel to NPR's ATC, but I liked this song so much I wanted to hear the whole thing. Doesn't mean I'm a fan of Norah Jones though........
There's a good song in there, but it's smothered by a few others that aren't.
Gr8 follow-up to Frou Frou!
Very cool!
Point made, but Norah Jones isn't crap. I think this song would be better without the "unqiue sounds" in the background, and more vocals. There are some good remixes that strip that part out.
Why listen to this crap when you can listen to Zero 7?
tony620d wrote:

Because, as we all know, the Swiss eat so much cheese.
Trying wwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too hard.

My sentiments exactly...except that I'd give the chanting a 5, I think. (So, not, in fact, exactly. But close.)
Norah Jones?!? Sucks!!
why do all RP songs have to start out with some strange yodel farting sound?

Clever. Not among my faves on RP, but as someone said of another song, the diversity is what makes RP so great

So that's what Norah Jones sounds like when she is goosed repeatdly.

While this version is good, there are a couple of nice remixes floating around out there...I'd recommend giving them a listen.

I thought so too. That's a guy playing a bottle, in Watermelon Man. Somebody said this was a guy playing a pan flute. I dunno. Sounds similar.

Okay, if ANGELS sound that way, they need a Heavenly Heimlich ! Too much Philly!
I think I've had my fill of Norah Jones, but I really like this song. A 7

Mark it 8 (or 7 as I did), so you can come back next time and bump it "back" up. ;-) Likeable tune.

I get that "ah, it's Norah!" feeling when I hear this song, just like I used to when she first came on the scene. I rarely get that feeling, especially when I hear music in the grocery store.
Where else are ya gonna hear cool stuff like this? Can't wait to finish my thesis so I can make a bit more money and give to RP every month.
blech! I can't even wait long enough to hear Norah! The intro is annoying! :P
To be honest the monkey doesn't bother me.
I have a lot more respect for Norah Jones after hearing this song. Great hypnotic song.

Reminds me of Deep Forest who also used a sound like that a lot.

I suggest adding the Thievery Corporation remix of Angels as an alternative to this version. It doesn't have the "monkey hooting" and may be a better version besides that also. mmm. Norah Jones is amaaaazing.......
OKAY,...............is that a HUMAN voice at the beginning ...or what?!? Interesting, but....

superdiggable.
the whoopin', or whatever, at the beginning, subtract a full 4 from the 7 i wish i could give it. .
I contacted Ilhan/ Wax Poetic to let him know this song was added to the best internet radio's playlist. He was very happy to hear that. Bill, next time you are in NY you should go check out Nublu. It would be great to hear Wax Poetic in a live studio show, too.
very cool. I like it.
Can do without the yodeling, or whatever that god-awful noise is.

Love her voice, always have!
I definately recommend their album. Ilhan Ersahin is a very good saxophonist and composer/songwriter. He owns Nublu Bar/ Lounge in New York City where he worked with Norah Jones just before she became famous. Here are the sites you can check out: https://www.nublu.net/ https://www.waxpoetic.net
Wow! Quirky, then silky smooth Nora J vocals....interesting!
