I agree !  and there's another one...

played this one too many times today ...

Is an aberration, like other similar experiments and attempts.  And, while not wanting to be blunt, is a waste of time in radio when there are so many songs and artists (worthy of the name!) that are on the shelf ....... a contradiction or lack of clarity (or the DJ is vacation)

**2 **   (because it is a by-product of the music)

My first response was... What the heck? Then once I realized what it was I thought, hey cool. Next, I found the song grew more and more annoying by the minute. Particularly some aspect of the percussion I found grating. It DID get my undivided attention, but not in a good way. This song got me wanting to comment, so I joined.  Generally I have been recommending this station to all my students, I use it for "background" music before class, and quite often a student will say "hey I love this song" and I get coolness points as a professor.

WTF?  How can anyone deny the impact that the Beatles have had on modern music?  You can trace a line from every artist to a Beatles song without much effort.  They pretty much invented half the music out for the last 50 years.

Nor do I, but this mess of a smashup qualifies.

That was a jolt! Some mash-ups are monumental and others less so. This one's somewhere in the middle. Nonetheless, quite an imagination to even think of putting these two (plus a snippet from "Walrus") together.
Sacrilege... Complete sacrilege.

In the words of Howard Cosell, "I may not always know what's good, but I always know what's lousy. That was a terrible mash up.
This combination doesn't do justice either of the components.

Nice work pulling an acappella out of Day In The Life though.  That's not easy!

I'll give it a 1 for inspiration and a 7 for craftsmanship, averaging to 4.

as delicious as steak covered in marshmallow sauce!

Holy smokes. I don't give many 1's, but...
Wait.  What??   {#Question}

I do like mashups, but I don't feel that this one particularly well done. :)
confusing...like listening to 3 songs at the same time
I am usually very open-minded - but no, NO, NO, NO, NO!!!!
This certainly isn't Dangermouse or DJ Schmoli.

My god, this is TERRIBLE.
An experiment gone awry.
Sacrilege... Complete Sacrilege
I love mashups!
Haters gonna hate. I like the way it confuses my brain.
First time I've ever had to mute radioparadise!

Well, except that yer playing it once a month, Bill.

the most disturbing part is how much slower "A Day in the Life" is here

Ummmm....I think this comes to at least twice in the past year....just sayin!!!

BTW...as always, I really do appreciate the experimentation.

I am thinking that most people are just having a hard time wrapping their brains around this, you hear the music and expect Karma, you hear the vocals and think Day in the Life...

it's certainly befuddling and lifts itself out of background music and snaps you to attention.

Yes, is suppose it was an interesting idea, and it's been nicely executed.
Now please don't ever play that again.

Once a year would probably allow sufficient time to recover and suppress the memory, yes.

I would like to rate this "funny". Unfotunately it is not in the list and would probably be in another dimension that plain old 1-10 .
This is one of those "sounds good on paper" mashups that just does not work when actually realized.
Sorry, but this sounds like one radio signal bleeding over another. Oh well, if it makes somebody happy...

Yes, it is like that.  Or maybe more accurately, that is what it is.
Radiohead has finally got a hold of a good singer! {#Biggrin}
I thought my ears were playing tricks on me at first... interesting, but not earth shattering.

Now. yes. Go back a few decades, where you will find the former less metabolically challenged and the latter not yet conceived, and maybe you will get a different result.

So, let me tell you, Bill that I am also very amazed by this mashup. But it sure does polarize.
This probably sounded like a better idea than it turned out to be....
WTF as right...sucko barfo!  This was just offensive to listen to.

However, kudos to Bill for trying eclectic stuff!  RP Rocks!

It really is! And I'm not just sucking up Ha! {#Lol} They matched these songs up so well that this could have been a discarded Beatles alternate version, released may years later on an outtakes album.
Hey, it's a Radiohead song that I know all the words to!
i appreciate both artists... so it is interesting to hear a blend of the two. i dig it.
This just doesn't work for me, not even worth rating at all...and I love both bands

Not much. In fact, that's the problem with so much post modernist art, the standards are in the toilet, or uh urinal. Now when Marcel Duchamp did the found urinal and put it on a stand, no one had done that before, and that made it interesting. No one had mimeographed Marylin Monroe multiple times on one canvass before in a cartoon style. After the 500th time, I'd say it's time for a moratorium on that kind of junk. In its only defense, I would say it's not painful to listen to, it's merely pedestrian.

Making "Art" doesn't necessarily have to be about "Talent" at all.  "Craft" is reliant on talent.  Art is about the communication of ideas.  Duchamp addressed the role of Art in society, and Warhol's work was more about the mass production and consumerism in western culture, which was part of his inspiration for having images silk-screened onto canvas.  I agree that the standards are determined only by a very small number of "Intelligensia", and that is troubling for anyone attempting to succeed as an artist.  There's certainly no need for a "moratorium" on Art; that sounds like Jesse Helms.
Anyhow, this "song" was interesting, nothing Earth-shattering; I pretty much agree with your assessment of it.

More, please. I for one am all for plastic picnic tablecloth be-smocked popes.

I have to say this one really doesn't work at all for me. It sounded to me like two songs played over one another with no relation to one another rather than an effective fusion creating a new piece. Sad that it didn't work out considering the quality ingredients used.

I'm a mashup fan, but that added nothing to either song...nor was it amusing!
{#Eek} Where's DJ Schmollie when we really need him?
Interesting.  It's like listening to two incredibly-great songs at the same time.
Absolutely fantastic! What a great pairing.
This is not a bad mashup. But, as another poster wrote, it should be used sparingly.

When the karma police locate the producers of this, they're gonna be sentenced to Barry Manilow prison for 15 years.

Nope.  Not at all.  Once was enough for me.
A Mashup on RP....why not? It's fun to hear something like this once in a while.

Yeah, it's interesting, I guess, but not nearly as pleasant to listen to as either of  the two actual songs involved.

A travesty.

Criminal.
I guess, since this seems to have inflamed so many listeners, that this crap is art. Good stuff.

Well, OK, but red got a 9.3 and blue got an 8.4. Violet got a 4.2.

Tarquin's sentiment is echoed by Mike Nesmith who, on the back of The Birds, the Bees, and the Monkees album, quotes a poet who wrote,

"Blue is blue and must be that
But yellow is none the worse for it"

The forgotten song on Pink Floyd's TDSOTM is called "Any Colour You Like."

Wow.  Really beautiful - eerie how well it works.   Thanks for that one!
Two great tastes that don't taste great together. I'll stick with the originals.
Oh, god, this is making my head hurt.  I don't even know how to rate this.
This is fucking amazing*. Nice follow-up to In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida!

*I mean, I love music, and have had some musical education, but never would have had the presence of mind to mix these two songs together. And yet, it works. See the red, blue, purple comment below.

I thought I was listening to Karma Police and BLAM!  What is this trickery!?

I like the mash-up, it was kinda cool.  Actually goes together somewhat. Thx for mixing things up Bill {#Smile}
Interesting, in a listen-to-it-once sort of way...
I think it is a decent mix!
WTF?
The perfect example of how to ruin a great Radiohead song....

gohomeproductions - GO HOME!

there is nothing dumb about taste... it's preference, that's all... do you think your Beethoven? Think you could do better in any respect? If you were a musical genius I would respect you calling me stupid(me not being a musical genius), but it would not change the fact that I like mash-ups, ambient jazz, and indi hip hop.

But this piece of music is dumb, it doesn't even sound like Radiohead, it sounds like the piano vocal track from Day in the Life plus the "We buried Paul" background rumblings in "I am the walrus". It's amateurish at best. No one's done this particular piece of tripe before but that doesn't make it interesting. In its only defense, I would say it's not painful to listen to, it's merely pedestrian.
Hey, you got Beatles on my Radiohead. Hey yourself...you got Radiohead on my Beatles. Maybe OK once every four years. Like honey on radishes. Just to remind you how they don't go together.
I like red, blue, and violet, too.

I don't think it has anything to do with talent. It's something different, and that's what we're all here for.
Interesting....hmmm. I recommend you download a song from the Sopranos; they mixed "every breath you take" with the Peter Gunn Theme...and they fit together PERFECTLY! Amazing how that worked out. I heard it on the Sopranos and downloaded it right away. Check it out, you will be surprised.
Can't help but wonder what would've happened if they spliced "Karma" with "Sexy Sadie" instead.

So what would you say about me, a 30 year old who has regularly listened to and enjoyed this mash since first hearing it on "Breakfast with the Beatles" last year? Granted, it's not new music, is probably a fad, and certainly appeals more to a younger audience. So what? It might (just might) still be enjoyable to listen to on occasion. Personally, I can't stand country music, but I can deal with the occasional song as part of an eclectic playlist.

More talent that you could probably muster which is why your on a board whining about the point of of ever evolving music (in your words splicing). Just because you don't like it doesn't make it pointless. Turn it down if you don't like it. :-({|=
"Mmmmmmmmmm...............Caramel!..................Aurghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..........=P~
Bizarre. And not in a good way.
This pains me greatly. Wouldn't it just be easier to play two great songs back-to-back as opposed to cramming them together??
