Uhm, actually this was her third album and both "Touch" and "Solace" which preceded it had some fine tracks, though nothing as arresting as every single track on "Fumbling". This album was definitely her pinnacle.

Yes, this album, oddly, is excellent. I don't know what happened but I never bought another Sarah album. Did she get too Lilith-ish and I got turned off? I don't know but these songs still have the same effect even years later.

It could easily be canned. The show I saw her at (before the whole Lilith Fair thing started) featured a drum machine on-stage with the rest of the band. Oh, and Camille was there too.

I agree, except that in recent years she has tried to sound more like Sinead O'Connor or something -- or maybe she's just exploring the possibilities of her chest voice... At any rate, I'm a die-hard Sarah fan, although I must say "Solace" is my favorite album as of yet.

I agree. The programmed drum track always felt a little odd to me. Live versions are better. Still a good song, though.

Glad to hear this on RP... deeper cuts off this album are a welcome change from the commercially overplayed "Possession" (though I love that song) and songs of hers off subsequent albums.
