Baby, if I could keep it together don't you think I'd try?
And maybe if I could make something of this,
Why wouldn't I?
You say I close a blind eye
That I don't put up the time
But what you see as goodbye
I don't see as a crime
I'm tired of the blame
Being put on my head
You're breathing fire's not bringing back what's dead

Don't get your back up over this
If I'm so wrong and you're so right
You really got your mind made up I guess
Won't you let me get some sleep tonight?

It's late now
And there's only four hours 'til I get up again
You know I'd wait somehow
If I thought this was something
That a little time would mend
You, you're dragging this misery on
Let's leave this thing for a while
It's too far gone
Too far gone

Don't get your back up over this
If I'm so wrong and you're so right
You really got your mind made up I guess
Won't you let me get some sleep
Won't you let me get some sleep
Won't you let me get some sleep tonight?

Don't get your back up over this
If I'm so wrong and you're so right
You really got your mind made up I guess
Won't you let me get some sleep
Won't you let me get some sleep
Won't you let me get some sleep tonight?

Tonight...
Tonight...

Good lyrics, tedious singing
Wow, another gem I never heard before, I like it!

When I first heard this gal sing on RP, that surreal Lodestar number, I fell in love with that unbelievably great, expressive voice...and I am happy to say both RP and she are still way up in my mind! Thanks!

Nice transition from the Beatles.
...seriously, bill, quit being mean - i can't go home until tomorrow afternoon!..
Glad to see this one. Love Sarah.
Refreshingly interesting lyrics.
"I want to thank you for givin' me the best day of my life" :-k Likeable Indigo Girlesque tune.
Another one of Canada's great female singer/songwriters. The whole album is a great listen.
She is, indeed, great in concert. I could listen to this song all the day. She also has a great cover of Trouble in the Fields that I think is a little more haunitng than Nanci Griffith's version.
First heard this song shortly after I went through a divorce - always thought my ex-wife could have written it word for word.
Not familiar with Sarah, but I like this!
Love the whole album. She's great in concert too ---- some amazing harmonies that the disc doesn't do justice to.
