Tell her not to go
I ain't holding on no more
Tell her something in my mind freezes up from time to time

Tell her not to cry
I just got scared, that's all
Tell her I'll be by her side, all she has to do is call

Tell her the chips are down
I drank too much and shouted it aloud
Tell her something in my heart
Needs her more than even clowns need the laughter of the crowd

Tell her what was wrong
I sometimes think too much
But say nothing at all
Tell her from this high terrain, I am ready now to fall

Tell her not to go
I ain't holding on no more
Tell her nothing if not this: all I want to do is kiss her

Tell her something in my mind freezes up from time to time

As ScottishWillie says, desperately underrated. I have about 5,000 albums and their 2002 effort "Can you do me Good" is one of the best in my collection. Justin Currie is such a talented songwriter.

This album is a must have, 10's from start to finish!

And Justin's solo is not bad either...his lyrics is awsome!
Mr Bill spoiled us today. I think my office chair missed me! {#Dancingbanana_2}

A desperately underrated band, particularly in their homeland.

Dels on RP! This song makes me want to turn it up FOREVER!!
Justin Currie is still active in his solo career.  He's actually touring Scotland (his home country) with the Del's in Jan and Feb.

The whole album is great, I wonder what happened with them. Nice choice!
I got to see them in a small place in Copenhagen when this cd came out. They were great.
This is the only song i know by them, but i sure love it!! Sweet and "little" piece of music and that's what i love about it!

Thanks for the Del Amitri Bill. Tell Her This is such a great one. Need to get you some of Justin Currie's solo work.

Might be true, the Venusians seem inexplicably attracted. Seem vacant to me, but I suppose paying attention could reveal something useful. Not sure I'm up to that.

Great band, great music... I've been listening to them ever since their debut album; pity they're no longer together... Anyway, their lead singer, Justin Currie, has two very good albums out for those of you who'd like to keep track ('What is Love For?' and 'Great War')...

Ooo - thank you for this information!  I bought the "Hat Full of Rain" CD in about 1999 in Montréal, and somewhere between then and now, it ended up getting broken. I have yet to replace it, but I shall, because I just love this buncha lunatic-geniuses!  This particular collection of songs on "Twisted" is so good, I guess I just needed the reminder to get it on CD.  Noted.

Dedicating tomorrow to going back through these comments and making a list of all the great music I want to buy before I don't have any money left. {#Mrgreen}

I love this band!  Had this on cassette , and didn't replace it on CD - but I will, because it's a really GOOD set of music! {#Bounce}

Del Amitri is always really good or really awful, this is one of the former. Lovely.

To my mind, about 99% of their music is great-to-awesome-great. Try the album Change Everything, probably their best. If anyone doesn't like Be My Downfall: {#Frown} And ya know, they definitely can rock out. Iain Harvie is a terrific guitarist. For fans of the Dels, there are a ton of B-side collections, too, most of which are really good, except for maybe the last one. Good luck finding them, though.

Oh please no - I need it just slightly heavier quite a lot - this makes me want to wear a souwester and stand on a cliff before jumping

If you want something heavier - a great guitar and vocal jam, give "Start With Me" a listen!

I love this entire CD ... a great bit of music.

I agree, except I gave it a 10 (only because there isn't an 11).

twisted with saccharin maybe
Del Amitri is always really good or really awful, this is one of the former. Lovely.
Anyone have any Del Amitri live shows to trade? I have ~20 at (click here)

Wow! 2 Scottish acts on, back to back. Del Amitri are fab.
Wonderful.
I first heard this on Scrubs and instantly fell in love with it - soo good to have it here at RP where it rightfully belongs. Most excellent.
Yes I do like Del Amitri. Accordian? Is that what I'm hearing?
Great song. Much like their earlier albums. The rest of this album doesn't hold up except for a tune or 2, IMHO.
Always great to hear the Dels.
GREAT TUNE...THANKS RP
Can it get more boring???? Gosh.... I need something that rocks!!!
Bill, this is such a high rated song. It needs to get significant more play.
This song is purely beautiful. I love it!
Had to join this Del Amitri luv fest. One of my favorite bands. Please play more D.A.
wow thanks rp i had never heard this before. what a gorgeous song!
one of my favorite songwriters
HATFUL OF RAIN is a GEM!!! 10/10.
Very soothing, and reminiscent of how the Finn brothers make me feel
Love it, love it, love it. I don't think these guys have ever written a bad song. Perfect road trip music. Bill, how about some of their stuff from Waking Hours... like "Stone Cold Sober"?
Nice. In fact, pretty good in a mellow soothing way. Remeber, I have nothing against the clown lifestyle, but I still don't like clowns.
Probably not my favorite Del Amitri song, but then I have no idea what one would be. I have all of the CD's and I love them all.
I missed it! Damn! I have always loved Del Amitri. Please more!?
ok, so this is paradise! haven't heard del amitri on RP before, seems to go well...
I don't particularly care for clowns. There's some innovators out there, but so many of them insist on "traditional" clowning. I think it's killing the profession, really. Thought of that when I heard the line about clowns. I'm done now.
A great, great song. So glad to hear it here on R.P!
I absolutely adore this song!!!
I used to listen to this CD all the time. Haven't pulled it out in years. May have to this weekend. Forgotten how good they were.....
Pretty darn good.
*sigh* Why can't more bands be like Del Amitri? Awesome stuff here.

Beautiful, just beautiful! They actually listened! One of DA's best, too! A 9.
Great song by an amazing and underrated songwriter.
