If you're not sorry for who you are
Why are you sorry for where you been?
I know you carry a secret star
The one you got from your invisible friend

I met you walking in the New York night
I said, "Why are you walking so slow?"
You said, "I'm looking for a book I can write
And after that I got no place to go."

Wasted, I need to find a place to cry
Wasted, I need to find a place to cry

We stayed connected underneath the storm
You told me all the places you come from
I had a feeling I was being born
Inside your world where my heart could never be more

Wasted, I need to find a place to cry
Wasted, you need to find a place to cry
Wasted, I need to find a reason why
Wasted, I need to find a place to cry

If you're not sorry for who you are
Why are you sorry for where you been?
I know you carry a secret star
The one you got from your invisible friend

Wasted, I need to find a place to cry
Wasted, I need to find a place to cry

Great ethereal groove.

Wrong. It doesn't suck; you don't like it. Big difference. At first listen, I sort of like it, but that may change in one way or the other over the next few listens. Regardless, my opinion doesn't affect whether the song sucks or not, and neither does yours, luckily.
i like it!
This sounds a little like "You Showed Me" by The Turtles.

That is, if you spell intriguing B-O-R-I-N-G. Sorry...couldn't resist.
Definately not the DEF Leppard version...thank goodness.
Intriguing.

i hear a bit of depeche mode as well -- dark & dirty.
I would add a comment on the fragile state of human spelling, but for now I'll just say, Not sure about this one yet. I don't hear any Ferry or Bowie in here, unless you count the c@#p. I hear Tom Petty with a disco beat.
The album is a brilliant, gloomy and dark reflection on the fragile state of human existance. LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

i think joe really over-estimated the 80s comeback...
No kidding. Thought this was from the stone age not 2004. Let's leave the 80's in the 80's please - at least this over-produced sounding bland stuff.

AMG gives this disk a very high 4.5 rating so, clearly, I'm missing something.
Regardless of this track I have yet to see an AMG review that I thought worthy of reading. As you're in the UK you're lucky enough to be able to get Uncut magazine - they (usually) have excellent reviews! I think the song is growing on me personally. I hear he will be supporting REM on their tour

I hear the influences of both Bowie and Bryan Ferry in this. Can't wait to give the whole CD a good listen. I like J.A.

4.5 out of 10 sounds correct to me ;-)
