I came home in the morning
And everything was gone
Oh what have I done
I dropped dead in the hallway
Cursing the dawn
Oh come on son
Why must I burn
I'm just trying to learn

I stared into the light
To kill some of my pain
It was all in vane
Cause no senses remain
But an ache in my body
And regret on my mind
But I'll be fine

Cause I live and I learn
Yes I live and I learn
If you live you will learn
I live and I learn

God kicked you in the head
So I started a fight
Cause I knew I was right
But I learned I was wrong
I remember a slaughter
I remember I fought
For the money I brought
I got blistered and burned
And lost what I earned

But I live and I learn
Yes I live and I learn

I got, I got it now
She's got, She's got it now

I came to one a corner
With some help from a man and goddamn
I don't see to have learn
That a lady in need is guilty indeed
So I paid and got laid in return
And I don't know what I've learned

Well you get what you give
And hell yes I lived
But if you live as you learn
I don't think I'd be learned
Oh with the sun in my eyes
Surprise, I'm living a life
But I don't seem to learn
No I don't think I can learn

I like that Stockholm accent. Only us Swedish listeners can tell , I assume, but it's really sweet. Good album.

This is such a a great song - introduced to me by RP.  I only had grasped some of these lyrics, thanks for clarifying!

Sheryl Crow was a backup and studio session singer until her platinum solo album Tuesday Night Music Club (1994)

The Cardigans is a Swedish band formed in the town of Jönköping in 1992. Their debut album Emmerdale (1994)

As Country Joe shouted, gimme an "F"... I'd rather hear that in a song lyric any day.

So you're touchy about a "goddamn" but aren't worried about the song content ("paid and got laid in return")? Hmm. If you're offended by a "goddamn" then you're livin' in the wrong damn century, boy, or you're a refugee from the Amish.

Fine song, this, and a nice voice. Sure is worth a metalfittin' 7 from the Nottingham jury.

Awesome song, especially great in the spring weather for some reason.
Has Nina Persson been hanging around Sheryl Crow?

Yeah.  Stay away from iTunes and instead go to Amazon and/or eMusic and/or 7Digital (etc.) and get non-DRMd mp3 files in the first place.

great music today Bill!!

Yeah.  After a number of DRM related disasters, I immediately convert everything I download to MP3 via CD.

Anybody know a better way to do that?
this song always hears well.....

Funny, I too thought this was Sheryl Crow at first.  Nice song.

Great voice.  Tight.  Accessible.

Thanks Bill, I was getting to wonder what happened, playing a bunch of "zero" songs - this one lifts the mood a bit.
surprisingly underrated band

Absolutely fantastic song. This whole album is incredible, probably some of the strongest songwriting I've heard in years.
Amen to that! I was blown away by this album, probably listened to it 50 times in a row. They've always been a solid band but seemed to grow exponentially with this album.

Why are you all dissing "Lovefool" - that's a brilliant bit of pop confectionery - it's like a creme brulee
Oh, MAN! If you ever watched the BBC series "League of Gentlemen", you wouldn't use the terms "Pop song" and "Creme Brulee" in the same sentence! (Watch the series!) (click here) Oh yeah, the song... I dig it! Also liked "Love Fool" but sooo different. Then again, who of us hasn't changed in the last 15 years?

No love for early Cardigans. I've uploaded "Rise and Shine" and it didn't even make it to the LRC.
Absolutely fantastic song. This whole album is incredible, probably some of the strongest songwriting I've heard in years. Their newest album "Super Extra Gravity" is quite good too. It's a shame people only think of "Lovefool" when I talk about this band....they've matured immensely since then. Hell, even their other songs back in that era are good, just overshadowed by the one pop track. Another band that met a similar fate was Sixpence None The Richer...check out "Divine Discontent," it was their last album. Brilliant!
I like this. Has anybody ever tried to upload a track or two from their first (?) album "Live"? It's quite different from their recent stuff.
Good tune. Nina does sound a bit like Jenny Lewis, as someone else mentioned.
Not only a great song, but a great album! It shocked me to learn that The Cardigans were actually very talented. Up until this, I had only heard "Love Me".
