And all our worlds subside
With everything inside,
And always wonder why,
We carry on

And always wonder why,
We sing this song,
And always wonder why,
We carry on

And always wonder why,
Now you are gone

We'll carry on,
We'll sing this song,
To carry on

My first time hearing on RP. Yes, Sigur Ros-y.  But better, imho.  Less abstract, more uplifting and hypnotic. Sigur should be flattered.

Sigur Rós should be sincerely flattered ... imitation and all ...

It's similar but not close enough to be considered plagiarism, IMO.

Not sure but judging by the speed of this song the thief is probably either running very, very slowly away, or is already asleep under your dining room table.

Hey isn't this Corgan's nose?

Maybe I'm listening to a different song, but it sounds really ordinary to me. Death Cab did slow burns like this much better back on Transatlanticism.

I know you'll be shocked but, having owned Transatlanticism and listened to it many times, I don't share your opinon. I wouldn't buy it if I had it to do over again. Should that ruin it for you? Absolutely not! But I like this - and I like it more than anything I've ever heard by Death Cab. So who cares? All it means is that I shouldn't buy anything more by Death Cab but I should buy this. The reverse for you. The world still rotates on the same axis. Light still hurtles from distant galaxies. Nothing important has changed.

Maybe I'm listening to a different song, but it sounds really ordinary to me. Death Cab did slow burns like this much better back on Transatlanticism.
I like it.  Reminiscent of Snow Patrol and Devotchka.  {#Meditate}
WTF is this? Great stuff!  Never heard anything quite like it.  I hear a little New Order influence.  Hmmmm.

Enough of the comparisons!  If this is not original, What is?

Here's the song again...and here also is the end of my day again...This song sounds like the last song in a film, and my day is the closing credits. Still a 9 - very cathartic to me.

Same here, although I save the 9s and 10s for the very rare cases. I wish it was available on iTunes, though. (At least it wasn't last I checked...may have to go look again when I'm not at work.)

i thought for sure this was billy corrigan...has that theatrical ethereal theme that bill is in to right now (and me too clearly!) cool...

You beat me to that comment..

I hear Radiohead gone pop.

Philip Glass ish.
First time I've heard this. Very cool. My wallet grows lighter yet again.

Methinks that you have some sort of issue with the word pretentious. . . this is like the 21st post on the 6th separate topic where you have locked up on that one word. This time I'm with PG, this is pretentious bullshit and I'm giving it a 1.
I'm with the other guy. "Pretentious" implies they were trying to write something important, when you know absolutely nothing about the songwriters. Perhaps they were simply trying to write something "pretty". Either that, or you are trying to say the song itself thinks it is important, and that's just pathetic (pun intended). Overblown, melodramatic, and grandiose would all be more apt adjectives for a song written by someone who is clearly doing some sort of interpretation of Vangelis.
Started off sounding like Jimmy Somerville from the "Orlando" soundtrack - I was jazzed. Now I'm bummed.
The statue of limitations on the theft of pineapples would probably expire before the end of this song....
You are getting sleepy, sleepy, very very sleepy......now send me your money
Majestic masterpiece.
A double eight. One for the song and one for the band's name.
...two measures in and i already love it...

Yeah, but calling somebody pretentious without knowing there intentions is presumptuous. If people use "pretentious" to describe a subjective reaction to something, the word will lose its meaning. It always seems to me that most (not all) folks use that word in regard to film or music that they think is over dramatic.

I thought I was listening to Radiohead. Nice.
A little snow patrol in the music methinks.

The should call this "The Flatulaunce Song"
Great song from a great band. Very underrated in my view. Even these boys cant please everyone as can be seen below. We are all different and its a good job we are! However I would urge anybody who leans towards the new age progressive genre to seek out their albums and let them grow on you. superb stuff.

Now if I think an artist is being overlay drmatic, i.e., they are trying too hard to create impression of drama, wouldn't I then use to use the word pretentious to describe how I feel?

Excellent band, extremely underated. Those who favour mid road pop crap wont appreciate this talented outfit, so you cant please everyone can you?

Can't decide about this one. I like the guitar solo.
I bought this CD on the strength of hearing Pineapple Thief on RP. There are some beautiful tracks on it, but the overall effect can be a little repetitive at times. I would also agree that the vocals (and indeed lyrics) are not Pineapple Thief's strongest point. My favorite tracks on this CD are the instrumental ones. Still, this is a worthy track - I give it a 7! Nick
Yuk !!
I believe pretentious might be an applicable word, here. Interesting, for a bit.
barf, but not sucko-barfo, therefore, a "2"

Drone-y with a little snooze mixed in- typical talentless electric guitar solo posing as cutting edge, and failing miserably; IMHO, a waste of time.
Ditto on the Philip Glass comment. I thought it was leading into his composition Target Destruction.
OK, I'm officially tired of this song, having heard it nearly every morning for the last week or so. I do think there should be more bassoon in popular music, especially contrabassoon, but this song is just getting way too much play.
The music is interesting, the vocals painful. Can we get a moratorium on whiny Radiohead wannabes? The originals are bad enough.
Ah, hah! You one who steal pineapples! Me give 7.
solid suckage. a 1.
Majestically magnificent.
Good lord, this is beautiful.
At the start thought I was hearing Philip Glass from the Fog of War. Liked that song better than this one...

With the early Bassoon-like sounds and pomp, thought I was listening to the soundtrack to Orlando. Good thing either way.
:sunny.gif: Very nice and yup does remind me of Sigur Ros as well .... Very nice
More like this, please. =)
I was waiting for it to turn sour - and it didn't . Agreed it sounds like credits rolling out but frankly that suits my mood perfectly today...
solid
Ooh, I like this. After the past few days I've had, this is just what I need. Lovely. :-({|=

I think Philip Glass has got a good shot at a lawsuit here.

My god this sounds like Sigur Ros.....
Bravolicious -magnificent
Like this song. Thanks.
Hey Billy, i thought you're smashing pumpkins singer.... :)
A song from an American farmer? Oh, wrong subside. I still remember some comedian joking about all of the things he wasn't going to farm because of the subsidies. Cool tune, and great band name.
The air guitar stuff I don't think I need, but the rest of it is good. Kinda hear some similarities to Billy Corgan in the vocals...
Nice bit of lead guitar
