I'd rather dance with you than talk with you
So why don't we just move into the other room
There's space for us to shake and hey, I like this tune
Even if I could hear what you said
I doubt my reply would be interesting for you to hear
Because I haven't read a single book all year
And the only film I saw, I didn't like it at all

I'd rather dance, I'd rather dance than talk with you
I'd rather dance, I'd rather dance than talk with you
I'd rather dance, I'd rather dance than talk with you

The music's too loud, and the noise from the crowd
Increases the chance of misinterpretation
So let your hips do the talking
I'll make you laugh by acting like the guy who sings
And you'll make me smile by really getting into the swing

Getting into the swing, getting into the swing
Getting into the swing, getting into the swing
Getting into the swing, getting into the swing
Getting into the swing, getting into the swing

I'd rather dance, I'd rather dance than talk with you
I'd rather dance, I'd rather dance than talk with you
I'd rather dance, I'd rather dance than talk with you

Positively Smouldering indeed!  (and how can we read the young fella with his legs protectively crossed, hmmm...)

music's quite nice

If you got any lighter than Belle & Sebastian, truly the Monarchs of Twee, you'd be floating into the stratosphere. This song has a bit of body, though is still fairly lightweight.

The most intriguing thing about this album is the cover, and the interpretations it lends itself to. The look on the woman's face is positively smouldering, and that on the bearded guy pretty plaintive.
I like it — lyrically, kinda like Morrissey, but not as artsy, musically.
A dancing themed set is not worth playing this song.  In fact, I cant think of any reason at all to play this song.
Meh.
sounds like cheesy elevator music to me.  Am I missing something?
Belle & Sebastian Lite.

Dance With Me
I'd Rather Dance With You

Let's Dance next?
oooooh Bill's in a dancin' mood... {#Shhh}
reminds me of a 70's song, circa the Copacabana era, but I can't think of it....
There's a theme in this set!

i think the cover says, "we are intellectuals. we hang out playing chess and reading books and staging the occasional photo shoot."

If that's a real Chess game, then white's about to win a rook and, likely, the game, though of course we can't see what's behind the foreground guy's leg. It looks to be an unusual position, though.

I love this entire record, but haven't played it in a long time.  I need to change that...
These guys and Iron & Wine are staples on my weekend morning/brunch playlists.
I see what you're doing, Bill.  Two songs back-to-back with "dance" in the title.  Two songs with "Istanbul" in the title.  Pretty sneeky. :P
To me this is a perfect pop song... the lyrics and the atmosphere of the melody goes perfectly together, and super arrangement.

The cover's an interesting tableau open to quite a few interpretations. My immediate thought is that the woman's wanting to drag one of the chess players away to have her wicked way with him, going by her look. But then perhaps that's just the carnal mood that the Spring sunshine's got me into {#Twisted}

Foreground dude is just so in love with his own good looks that all his attention goes to the camera.

Nice follow up to Old 97s Dance With Me.  What next maybe Safety Dance??

Or Entrain's "Dancin' in the Light"?  Or JCM's "Dance Naked"?  The possibilities are endless... {#Mrgreen}
Pop garbage - no rhythm - no beat — must be Europeans - very embarrassing white people.
KoC are simply great! Would be nice to hear more of them on RP ;)
Wow, me likey!
Nice band , nice song!

Excellent, in an excellent sort of way.  I really like it, although it's the first time I've heard it.  Ahhh, Mavericks right after it.  Ahhh!

Edit:  Just watched the video, and am upping my rating by at least one!

everything I've heard from this cd I like, even if I dont think I should
