Hey, kid, rock 'n' roll, rock on
Ooh, my soul
Hey kid, boogie, too, did ya?
Hey, shout, summertime blues
Jump up and down in my blue suede shoes
Hey, kid, rock 'n' roll, rock on

And where do we go from here?
Which is a way that's clear?
Still looking for that blue jean baby queen
Prettiest girl I've ever seen
See her shake on the movie screen, Jimmy Dean
(James Dean)

Well, I'm tempted to call it a "guilty pleasure", but what the hell, if I like it I like it. Guilt, shmilt.
Wow, it’s been forever! Whatever happened to this guy, anyway?
Oh my. The memories. Pictures of David Essex plastered all over bedroom walls when we were teenagers!!
Kind of a Come Together rip-off, I mean homage

Well, I replied to your comment regarding the SP version. And, youtubed it.... Definitely "era appropriate" but, that's not saying I cared much for SP's version.... Instrumental part, really hard to keep up with and, OMG!... That voice! Ugh! Certainly shed a "dirty spotlight" on SP... IMHO, of course.

No shit?!? I'm a SP fan but, hadn't heard their version! Bet they made it sound a bit more "era appropriate", too! Here I come, YouTube music! Lol

You need the big Sony SS-860 speakers with the 12" woofer to appreciate this song. That low bass note will put a match out on those speakers. You can have your teeny-tiny bookcase speakers. I still have my monster speakers bought in the PX in Japan in 1976 that'll put any bookshelf system to shame when it comes to this song.

Hey kid, rock n roll, rock on!

What the heck! If someone said I would hear David Essex on this station I would have laughed in their faces!
But. It. Works!

Sometimes all you need is time and distance.
Thanks BillG! We need these in small quantities
This was so out-of-left-field cool when it came out. Didn't sound like anything else. David might have put out a lot of other cool stuff but unfortunately American radio didn't give him much airplay after this.
Not heard this for ages, great to hear it again.
I had to check what radio station I was listening to! Instantly recognised from the very first beats, transported back to the 1970's when it was frequently blaring out from my sister's bedroom. One of the reasons I had to build a louder music system in my room ...

Nice to hear it again for the memories, but not for the musical content

this song SUCKS, but it's also a classic, so i gave it a 5. is that good logic?
yep, makes perfect sense. could do without ever hearing it again, but better off having heard it infinity times...

Oh No! This song is going to be stuck in my head when I wake up in the morning... I just know it!!!
The Smashing Pumpkins did a better job with this song.
I got sick of hearing this when it came out YEARS ago but listening to it again in the pallid glow of my computer makes me realize what a cool spooky song it is. Thanks! Nice to listen in a new context.
It's been a wicked long time since I heard *this* song ... not bad ... brings back some old, smokey, blurred memories. :)
