The wintergreen, the juniper
The cornflower and the chicory
All the words you said to me
Still vibrating in the air
The elm, the ash and the linden tree
The dark and deep, enchanted sea
The trembling moon and the stars unfurled
There she goes, my beautiful world

There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes again

John Willmot penned his poetry
riddled with the pox
Nabakov wrote on index cards,
at a lectem, in his socks
St. John of the Cross did his best stuff
imprisoned in a box
And JohnnyThunders was half alive
when he wrote Chinese Rocks

Well, me, I'm lying here, with nothing in my ears
Me, I'm lying here, with nothing in my ears
Me, I'm lying here, for what seems years
I'm just lying on my bed with nothing in my head

Send that stuff on down to me
Send that stuff on down to me
Send that stuff on down to me
Send that stuff on down to me

There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes again

Karl Marx squeezed his carbuncles
while writing Das Kapital
And Gaugin, he buggered off, man,
and went all tropical
While Philip Larkin stuck it out
in a library in Hull
And Dylan Thomas died drunk in
St. Vincent's hospital

I will kneel at your feet
I will lie at your door
I will rock you to sleep
I will roll on the floor
And I'll ask for nothing
Nothing in this life
I'll ask for nothing
Give me ever-lasting life

I just want to move the world
I just want to move the world
I just want to move the world
I just want to move

There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes again

So if you got a trumpet, get on your feet,
brother, and blow it
If you've got a field, that don't yield,
well get up and hoe it
I look at you and you look at me and
deep in our hearts know it
That you weren't much of a muse,
but then I weren't much of a poet

I will be your slave
I will peel you grapes
Up on your pedestal
With your ivory and apes
With your book of ideas
With your alchemy
O Come on
Send that stuff on down to me

Send that stuff on down to me
Send that stuff on down to me
Send that stuff on down to me
Send that stuff on down to me
Send it all around the world
Cause here she comes, my beautiful girl

There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes again

God + the Devil + drug addiction + Kylie = Australia's own Johnny Cash! {#Cowboy}

It's dope, Dewey, and it's bad for ya!
...
Always thought he and Warren Zevon were twin sons of different mothers.  Yeah, I'm a fan, lord help me I love it so.

Him yelling over top over the rest of the music, and uh.. the rest of the music.

Genius. . . the man can do no wrong in my book. Granted, not your 'traditional' kind of music but I'd really recommend buying this double cd or Dig Lazarus Dig.

Kick Nave and the Sad Beads. . .

I liked his novel about Bunny Munro, even though it won a nomination for 'bad sex' writing. You can download an app for the iPhone from iTunes and it has all sorts of multimedia features which make it v cool

This song doesn't feature in the story though.

Which is a shame
He has a 3note range!!!  {#Frustrated}
I always get the odd feeling that Nick is singing a different song than the band is playing.
what's with the glockenspiels? don't like his voice either
gosh.
I hated that.  I guess that makes me a hater.  Never thought of myself as one.

Oh goodness, you shake me.

So everything I've heard by Nick Cave on RP has been awesome (and this is a great example of it - fantastic high-volume, desk banging awesomeness).

So I downlo...er... got a bunch of Nick Cave CD's, and started listening... and ... where's the awesomeness?  It seems that his work is one of those "We put out zillions of tracks and music... and maybe one in 30 is a great track.. the rest are just bleah...

Or am I selecting the wrong CD's?

"Henry's Dream", "Tender Prey" and "Murder Ballads" are probably my favorites. His recent stuff is a lot calmer, with a much lower body count per CD. ;) Still good, but I prefer the mad old Preacher Nick, personally.

Even by Nick Cave standards, this is excellent. I can't believe it's rated so low.

Love that line about Johnny Thunders when he wrote Chinese Rocks -- except I think Dee Dee Ramone wrote it for Johnny's Heartbreakers

Brother Cave, tell it! I've been HEAL-ed.

I'm giving it a decent rating just for the cool album art.
Any song with a Johnny Thunders reference gets high marks in my book. As does anything from Nick Cave.
Speaking of "there she goes my beautiful world" did anyone in Northern California just feel an earthquake? Oh yep located at 36.885°N, 121.623°W. Woo hoo!

LOL, true, the gospel choir and the heavy handed percussion lifts the roof though.

He's a brilliant songwriter all right, but this is overblown, and he has lost a bit of that edge imho

Bombastic? Sure. Overblown? Perhaps. However, Nick is a genius. He can do no wrong by me. And I agree with lala, "Let Love In" is Nick's greatest album. lala wrote:

That's what you get for seeing them at Lollapalooza. I agree with Robbie.

Definetely not a good setting for them. Daytime, outside venue...huh! They were born to play small, dark clubs on the "seedy" side of town. Saw them once in a rundown old theater in Montreal...it was a religious experience!
Rock it, Nick, rock it!

I didn't know that. What an educational song.
Every time I hear Nick Cave, I soon think of PJ Harvey. And vice-versa.

Sorry Nick - you STILL can't sing!!
Yet, here he is, singing...and getting paid for it, and on tv...generally making a career by using his vocal chords... so, even though that phrase is tossed around a million times a day by a million people, what does it really mean? (Not attacking--I've said it plenty of times in reference to britney spears--although she kind of whispers and sing/speaks..)
too bad you can't follow it up with "What's that Buzz". Anyone have a copy of it?
TESTIFY, Nick, TESTIFY!

Henry's Dream is another awesome Nick Cave album. I still play it regularly, I just love his lyrics. They can be so funny and so dark. He is a legend.

I agree. I bought this CD earlier this year not knowing who Nick Cave was. I was told he was good. Well, I listened to it once, and not even all the way through. I think he's awful.
Sounds cheesy and fake. Like an insincere Tom Jones.
this is an on the rocks ballad, and at his best....thx Nick

I know a fair amount about Cave and his past career, so I respect his musical abilities. However, I tend to agree with you about that particular quality of his voice. It sort of reminds me of when Michael Bolton massacred all those innocent soul classics in the 90's. It sounds forced and disingenuous.
Rocking like a Cave Man!!! Awesome!
Wow. That was one big musical mess. And I say that as someone who usually likes Nick Cave.
No great comparisons to give, I know what I like, this is definately there.

I agree with you on everything except the rating. Somehow, depsite the exhaustion this song eventually leads to, (it starts at the level it should reach at the end...) I still can't help but love it!
mr. cave and his bad seeds have really made an impression on me - gotta buy this album. thanks, rp!
Like a mix of Warren Zevon and David Byrne. Not bad... muddy, but live... there y'go.

Just discovered Cave thanks to RP. Up until NOW, I liked everything I'd heard. "Chewing the scenery" is right.

i love it! one of the best releases of 2004, in my opinion...i've been rockin' with these guys since the 80's...
I don't see this listed on AMG. Did I miss it or....?
