Recently heard Tommy Emmanuel telling us how Chet Atkins inspired him to learn how to play rhythm, lead and harmonics simultaneously - can we therefore assume that there are no overdubs on this track?

GREAT TUNE! ! I don't give a hoot about car commercials! I just change channels or hit the mute button on my TV if they manage to butcher a great tune with voice-overs etc.!

To me, anything that turns me onto music I haven't heard is just a referral. The referral can be sentimental or irritating but the commercials fade quickly if I really like the music.

Maybe you're not familiar with Atkins' work, but he was much more than a "country music player". How he compares to Django Reinhardt is a different matter, but Atkins certainly admired and emulated Reinhardt's work.

This is used on a TV commercial here in Spokane, WA, but since I usually don't pay attention to commercials, I won't know what it's for until it comes on again. Now that I've heard the song on RP, I'll pay more attention to see what commercial it's attached to. It's nice to hear that the song was recorded by a master!

Chet was loved and idolized by pretty much all the big rock guitarists. One of my favourites being Steve Howe. Some his stuff you might think was tribute to Chet or maybe even something he stumbled onto trying to learn an Atkins bit.

I have this excellent album. Being European, I haven't the association with insurance commercials but I can imagine the irritation. Chet was the consummate professional and a peerless guitarist. He's sadly missed in this house.

What I noticed about that pic that's strange is that Page is the only one with long fingernails on his left (fretting) hand. That is definitely not what I'm used to seeing in guitar players.
