Just as sure as that suns gonna shine
When he comes at his table I will dine

Just as sure as that dog's gonna whine
In my heart no longer will I pine

Just as sure as by evil you are torn
The sky will open up an an angel blow his horn
An down come Jesus lookin' so fine
Just as sure as that girl she is mine...
An I say

Hey hey hey it's always forever
Hey hey hey it's never or now

I dug a hole an hollowed it out
Yes an I fell in
Oh Lord I'm caught in the cord...
The cord of my own sin

Shoot 'em up cowboy - yeah I got away,
But I been dragin' this chain the whole way...
An I say

Hey hey hey it's always forever
Hey hey hey it's never or now

Oh yea boys I know an I am certain
In your heart of heart ye all are hurtin'
Oh no no no not that name not to me
It's much too hard to get down on my knees
But just as sure as by evil you are torn
The sky will open up an an angel blow his horn
An down come Jesus lookin' so fine
Just as sure as that girl she is mine...
I say...

Nice!
Hi Bill, just too good this is, please please play Black Soul Choir
A true live-band!
Intro has shades of John Fahey
Sounds like 'Murican music to me.
Needs some additional backup vocals:

'Fat Alert' '/' CBS
Is that the same singer from Rusted Root or just similar?
Simply brilliant.

Weird, this song is not on my copy of Low Estate. But according to Wikipedia, it is.

Seems that it's on the 16 Horsepower EP
easier to find
would recommend black soul choir or dead run over this...but either way they play some excellent jacked up bgrass
Check out the Woven Hand  Mosaic CD...It is a real treat.  Most of the same dudes playing...It is haunting, and that is putting it mildly.
Not sure at all.  Quite different.  I think I need another listen before I can decide if I like this or not.  Giving me a bit of a Hayseed Dixie sort of vibe.  I find them a bit hit and miss.

Nothing but love for BOTH these bands!

Fist time I'm hearing them, jump to the website and they've split up!

Most of the band is back together in Woven Hand.
Son enormes!!!!!!!{#Bananajam}
This track sounds like the John Butler Trio in Appalachia. :-)

No better way to start the day than with some David Eugene. Thanks Bill!

One of the weaker tracks from one of my favourite bands of all time.
Funny- when this started I wanted to see who was doing a soft-cover version of Hells Bells...
Reminds me of the Dandy Warhols.
Damn - thought we were headed into the Dandys for a moment!

Seen them live about 10 years ago. In Rotterdam. Awesome!

Except that Rusted Root's lead singer is just incredibly happy about everything, so happy that his voice is breaking (which is the main reason why I can't stand Rusted Root), and David Eugene Edwards's voice is breaking because he's tormented by everything, he's in despair :-) I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with the spiritual side of his lyrics, but I've seen him live 3 times now (once with 16HP and twice with Woven Hand), and his gigs are really intense. After just under 1.5 hours, he's exhausted, and so is the audience. I vastly prefer this over Rusted Root.
Highway 61?

I first heard them on All Things Considered many years ago. The album Sackcloth 'N Ashes had just come out. I rushed out and bought it and haven't looked back. They just blew me away with that album. Shame they've split up.

So, I'm checking out this cd on Amazon, and this song is not listed. Is it really on the cd Low Estate?
No, it is on their self-title EP from 1995, which is my favorite album of theirs. Low Estate is a good album, however. The aforementioned EP is kinda rare, meaning you'll have pay "import"-type pricing to get it and it'll most likely be used.

I love the instrumental arrangement on this but I can't stand the lead vocal. Man, it's grating!

There so many better tracks from this band to play. Thanks for this one though. I can't believe that I'm hearing 16 Horsepower in the air(net) waves. This band rocks!!!!
The only listenable noncommercial type of gospelmusic I know...
never heard of them before but I like them
Hellfire and damnation, but the boy can sing.
Saw this band open for Innocence Mission some time in the 90's in a very small club. Didn't know who they were but they dam sure blew the headliners away.
Shame about the yodle. 4-Acceptable

16HP is one of the best bands I've seen live. The sounds they create are just unearthly.

That's a great way to put it.

What sort of time frame are these guys from?
Such an amazing band...
I dunno, but that was grating at the end... maybe I just need a coffee break
Nice, but Violent Femmes did it much better with the Country Death Song. Of course, they're not going to heaven, so it's a wash.
Great band, great music ... whether it's 'Christian rock' or not is irrelevant.
The kind of spiritual that should be heard in church.

Good to see another song by them made it here...

Nice addition! I thought it sounded like a Sixteen Horsepower song I hadn't heard here before.
