Hit me like a kick to a thickening gut
The beat has done beaten me up
No one's gonna lift me out of this rut
The groove has done ground me to dust
I'm knocking on the wrong cocoon
Spun another web of lies

And then you break through
And dry before my eyes
Take me with you
Where you hide tonight

Did you feel the beat in a fetal curl?
Could you be original, caterpillar girl
Crawling up the vine
Splitting your spine

Flowing through the motions
Leave your shell behind

And then you break through
And dry before my eyes
Take me with you
Where you hide tonight
Away...
Look out
The birds like me
They want you now
They want you now
Caterpillar Girl

And then you break through
And dry before my eyes
Take me with you
Where you hide tonight

Yep, I hear it, too, good call. Hope I'm not crazy, though...
I like this.  I agree it does have a Snow Patrol element to it.
I might be crazy but I am hearing Bob Mould, Sugar sounds, and I like it.

This is great Bill, thanks for the new music, its never dull here.

And The Shins, Fleet Foxes, Death Cab, BRMC, Elbow, Frightened Rabbit, etc, etc, etc. Too many newer bands all sound the same. Even the album name makes me ready for this "Emo" kick to finally end so we can go back to rock and roll.

Umm, none of those bands are emo.

Absolutely right. I like this.
Lou Barlow I think I love you XOXOXO {#Heartkiss}
Just a teeny hint of Collective Soul I hear. Not bad.
This one's definitely a grower.  The more I hear it the better it gets and it was already very good.
I saw "Caterpillar Girl" and expected The Cure. Disappointment. {#Cry}

Lou Barlow's been recording music since the 1980s, hardly a "newer" act, and the generic label "emo" doesn't really mean much unless you consider everything that's not Led Zeppelin or Z.Z. Top, or any other "Classic Rock" dinosaurs to be "emo".   Aside from that, this song sounds nothing like any of those other bands you rattled off, nothing at all.

You again?  On that same anti-emo kick?  Shins are Indie, not Emo.

You need more time on target my friend, before you can lump all those bands together. . .

{#Meditate}

Everyone meet @ our house!?{#Roflol}
Without even really hearing the lyrics...I just like the way this song makes me feel.

spot on. . .

The house was either built on someones spilled ice cream cone, or it's blasting off to space.

I think the house is purging its guts, even though the song is nice. . .

Underrated song, IMHO.  I can't explain why I feel that way, though.  Guess it just syncs up with the right receptors!

Almost an Eddie Vedder thing going on.
This song rocks and deserves much greater airtime!  Thanks for clueing me in on the genius of Lou.

Wow, from the posted comments it seems like this song has not been played on RP since August 2005. Too bad, because I really like this tune, and I'm surprised it hasn't had more play in nearly 2 years!
My absolute all time favorite of all the Barlow, Sebadoh, Folk Implosion stuff! He's doing Dino Jr. stuff again now, I hear.

But Bob doesn't get much play on RP. Mores the Pity.
Indeed, stubbsz. I tried uploading some Bob and Sugar and got 'Sorry' to both. P'raps I'll try again. Likeable tune.

Ah, I knew it - the unmistakable voice of Sebadoh! I'm liking this very much...

Picked up the album through RP site. Awesome stuff. Barlow has definitely mellowed with age, but he's a great song writer. Highly recommended.

this isn't bad, i just can't seem to shake or get over the cure's song reference! <-(
