So, there was a band kinda like this, like 40 years ago. . . and they were probably compared to one before. . . .  I'm glad there is another.  Good stuff!

I like them both equally.

Always loved these guys. {#Smile}
S & G
S & G
S & G

OK, folks we all hear the similarities.  But S & G is just S and somewhere out there, G.  So is it that bad that these guys are picking up the vibe.  Should all male folk duos just not be because S & G was out there first and S was a brilliant song writer?  How about no more male lead, rhythm, bass, drum combos that harmonize?  I mean its been done right?

Please. They WISH they sounded like Simon & Garfunkel.
too convenient for my taste.
But big up for the chess board on the album cover.
Chess folks - gimme a hand!!! {#High-five}
The album cover looks like an ad for some hip new flavored Vodka, or maybe a liqueur.  Other than that, it's basic post-folk — the modern permutation of certain kinds of modernized folk from the 1960s and early 1970s.  Nothing wrong with that, some post-folk is fun.  This one is a bit a snoozer, but then I'm grading papers and I'm looking for something sweeping, loud, and inspirational!
I saw these guys live in Stockholm in a free-entrance festival and I found them too bored and all the songs sounded the same to me

That would be a Poor Man's Simon and Garfunkle

This is hilarious!   {#Lol}   I can't believe no one gave this comment a  {#High-five}  in 2 years!

P.S. I join the unwashed masses in noticing the very obvious similarities to S&G. Especially "Dangling Conversation." This is not necessarily a bad thing, but I would have loved this song to not sound QUITE so clonish.
Wait. This isn't Flight of the Conchords? Huh.
Sounds like Simon and Garfunkel.
The title of the song is very appropiate if you take out Home.
Wow. Very nice. Not the high of S&G, but close.
Did I somehow stumbled into a Renaissance fair? Snore.

Or Garfunkel even.

That would've been convenient, huh? Oops. I like it. Shades of S&G, but different. And unlike anything else out there right now. c.
did these guys want to be Simon and Garfunkle?

S&G meets Nick Drake. Very nice indeed!

Cool! Simon and Gar . . . wait. No.
this is new to me... Sounds like Iron and Wine. I like it!

My thoughts exactly. As they say, imitation is the highest form of flattery. At least this is very well done. Great effort.
I like this song and it's mellowness. Yes, I get a little S&G vibe, but I happen to really like them as my parents played them while I was growing up and it reminds me of a easier time. However, this song reminds me of something else and I can't put my finger on it...oh, got it. Why does this remind me of the "Landslide" line "And I live my life without you..."

Excellent CD - thanks to RP for turning me on to it!

Sounds to me like they are, indeed: "I lose some sales and my boss won't be happy but I can't stop listening to the sound of two soft voices blended in perfection from the reels of this record that I found" Not so much ripping off Simon and Garfunkel as intentionally paying them homage. An important distinction, I would say.

Not that it's a bad song; it's just boring.
Iron and Wine followed by Kings of Convenience = Greatness.
Boy, I seem to be in minority, but I quite liked the song. I do like Simon and Garfunkle, but have suffered from overexposure to their stuff. Yeah, this song is obviously heavily inspired by S&G, but so what? All art and music is a combination of imitation, permutation and inspiration in varying degrees. Okay, I've only heard it the once now, but I'm curious enough to want to hear more of their stuff. It may be that after hearing several of their songs I'll come to the conclusion that they are overly derivative and unoriginaly, but I didn't get that impression from this one listening.

I love it... folky 60's stuff reproduced to the generation that will never own an LP or know what a 45 is or looks like. Man... this is funny to listen too in 30 years maybe they will reproduce Rage Against the Machine and display it as new
Simon and Henry Finkel. (I'm an old school Boston Celtics fan)

I like the song but the singers' subtle lisp kinda grates on me....
hopelessly saccharine in sound, like Simon & Garfunkle at their sweetest: too sweet a tone. Good sleep induction music.

What a beautiful song. Nice guitar work.

So RP policy is to completely ignore listener comments? Thats not a very listener-supported-freindly attitude..... I listen, I support, I give feedback on songs hoping that listener views are taken into account. If I'm in the minority as for a view on a song - so be it - but at least I took time to give feedback.
Did I say that RP would "completely ignore listener comments" as you put it? My point was that asking for a song to be pulled isn't really effective. Even if the majority of listeners don't like a song, Bill still writes the playlists. I understand this is a listener-supported station, but while Bill and Rebecca take song comments seriously, they don't have to respond directly to the feelings of any individual or the majority. They're allowed to include songs that perhaps only they like. Listener-supported doesn't dictate listener-controlled; most of us who listen to RP understand that there will be music we don't like from time to time, and we accept that.
Man this song sucks.

Definately fairly new, aren't you? No offense meant by that, but you've got to realize that your most desperate pleadings will not pull a song off this station. That aside, I happen to really enjoy this. 8.

Very witty. And that's all I'll say about that.
I did not care for Simon and Garfunkel music back in the 60's and early 70's. Nothing's changed. So why would I like this? Answer: I don't. I agree with the previous comment: BORING

A better song is "Misread". But strangely enough, it got sorried. I was going to upload it, but I guess I wont. Although if I did, I could continue my streak :)

Not the best song from this album. "I'd rather dance with you" is far better.

From the review in RP: Okay, let us get real people, the only similiarities between Simon and Garfunkle and the Kings of Convenience are that they both use acoustic guitars and sing in triads. Hmm, okay...still sounds like Simon and Garfunkle, except Paul plays better and Art sings better. :)

This song is OK, but I listened to this CD on a plane (Singapore Airlines is great for this), and I gave up on them after song 5 or 6. Just how many times do you need to hear an alternate version of "The Dangling Conversation"? Not that many, it turns out.

Maybe the Muses that used to visit S&G wanted some new employment, and found these guys to inspire!

Well, it's art , in that it is an imitation or a take on something else.

It almost sounds like a parody, because of the striking resemblance to their musical forefathers. Anyway, it's very well done and the crystal clear and powerful production is something to envy.
roadshow wrote:

I was thinking the same thing...
Good voices, good harmony, although the guitar is a bit simplistic for my taste. Still a nice song, a sort of dreamy, "I'm sitting on a hill watching a sunset" type of tune.

Most reminescent of Simon & Garfunkel. Mice to listen to while looking at the snow outside.
