Now it's just you two
In a world of poems and paintings
I guess this means I'm through
It also means I'm breaking
But Isabelle, what can I do
If I'm caught in him, this man you love?
And Isabelle, what can I do
If his strong hands make it hard to shove him away?

And I know it's hard to picture it up here
In your tobacco-strewn back yard
And it is kinda toilsome to keep an eye on him
Just look what he's done so far

But Isabelle, what can I do?
The last thing I need is to end up askew
And Isabelle, what can I do?
The prophets make it difficult
Isabelle, what can I do
In the few weeks time you're out of sight?
And Isabelle, what can I do
Just because it feels alright?

And the ground's already hard
Where its been dug in
I've gone this way too many times
And the pit keeps getting deeper
But I'm not turning back
So Isabelle, try to understand

I know just what to say
But it's incorrect to say it
How do I break it to him?
The death of one is staying
And all I think of now
Is a way to get under and a way to get out
So Isabelle, what can I do
With the naive pain it's causing you?

I'm with you on this one. I'm surprised this song is rated so high. {#Stupid}

Doesn't mean a thing; except the yays outnumber the nays

sad, forlorn, haunting...
meh, bordering on blech
Nice mood, but the vocals/lyrics kill it for me...{#Curtain}
meh.

Nice guitar, but the singing is a little thin, and the word "Isabelle" appears so frequently it starts to sound like nonsense syllables.

Very pretty song. Made me take a break my work to find out what it was.

I liked it.
I always think of '6 Feet Under' when I hear this one (Nataniel & Isabel).

Lyrics are good...nice song.I'm sure it will grow on me in time. I hope you play it more

I agree; I had to turn the volume down. Sounds like a six year old singing.

It's haunting alright ... Isabelle what can I do? Please stop singing and put the guitar down.
This is quite evocative of the movie Ladyhawke but that woman's name was Isabeau. The vocals are lovely. This song is on the Boats and Birds EP and it can be bought here.

Agreed. Just wish I could find it on iTunes.
I had to come look; my first impression was Sheryl Crowe!!!
Nice guitar, but the singing is a little thin, and the word "Isabelle" appears so frequently it starts to sound like nonsense syllables.
I'm working, struggling with strong hung-over and listening this fabulous cheering-me-up song..thanks RP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, thanks for playing a song I like which I can't buy! *sarcasm* galore. It caused me stop what I was doing and listen.
I actually love this song. I think it's haunting.

Are they still about? Digging my '93 Frente! ep out now...see how it's held up.

Booooooooooooooringggggggggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
man..I hate Jewel...
One of the very few songs on RP that reach for the volume to "turn it down" untill it is over. It's not really that bad, but it is played too much for what it is.

Strangely........ Just a bit strange really, but in a nice way. It gets an 8
Frente?

This could be played a little less frequently. Not deleted from the playlist completely, but dialed back a bit.

Tip: rate it a 9 or a 10. Oh boy, what is this a nice segue, such a climax.

I read it was a 10 year old boy somewhere (on the XTC song)..

Clever segue from U2.

Hey. I can tell them apart.

Hey her voice is wonderful, as far sounding like though, she sounds like every other female alternative vocalist. I'm not saying that's bad at all, just that everytime I think I recognize a female singer, it turns out to be someone different, Anna Nalick, Sarah Harmer, Stars, etc. etc. How in the heck do they sound so much alike? But I sure love the voice of a woman singing.
Guys. Sheesh. Y'all are lame.
Listening to the 64k AAC+ stream, I finally noticed that high-pitched artifact with her voice that others have been talking about. It isnt there with the 128k MP3 stream. Odd! And annoying! Great song, but that high pitched noise makes it hard to listen to!

Her voice reminds me so much of a friend of mine, it's kinda scary! I know for sure it's NOT her, but it sure sounds like her! Also, I found their site (since none of the RP links lead to any info about them).

Wow... Um... Wow... I NEVER would have thought of that, but you are 100% dead on correct.
Ow. Does anybody else hear a very high-pitched sound when she's singing? Probably a sampling artifact, but very annoying. Nice song, though.
Very Shawn Phillip-ish

I dig the voice. Interesting
I fully agree. I like it.
I did a Google search and found www.myspace.com/gregoryandthehawk which seems to be the bands site. There's a few other songs on-line to check out. (Bummer Isabelle isn't one of them, but 3 feature the same style guitar and vocal, one's instrumental) They aren't signed yet, but you can order songs directly from the band. That's what I love about RP-I get to hear music I would never hear otherwise! Love ya Bill!
You can buy a CD from her at the following site: https://www.myspace.com/gregoryandthehawk Lazy8 wrote:

I really wanted to give a nickel to RP and get this song from iTunes, but they don't have it. :( Too bad, I quite liked this on first hear.

Sounds very like Vanessa Carlton to me. Not bad though.

Something weird. In LADYHAWKE, her name was Isabelle ( French). Anyone remember HIS name? (not Gregory)
Isabelle and Navarre. I cheated.
