There's something quite meditative about this song. Love it!
SUPERB!    Thanx RP!

Lovely.
There seems to be a controversy according to AdMiles as to what constitutes music which is worth sharing. I'll keep things global if that's alright.

If you're (which is a contraction for 'you are', apostrophes are funny like that) so concerned with grammar, maybe grammar check your own posts first.

God save me from Grammar Police. They try to codify a living, evolving language and reduce it to a set of rules, killing its poetry without regard, and homogenize it until it's tamed. They discuss articles, nouns, verbs, direct and indirect objects, conjunctions and yes, contractions, also. But they can't write like Kurt Vonnegut who employs the simplest vocabulary and sentence structure. Some things cannot be reduced, quantified, or explained. We search for words, anyway. Take you're tired and evasive comments which avoided addressing OP's observation and look at the message which you clearly understood despite the harmless error.. See I can break rules, too. What do you bet the majority of people didn't catch it?
His voice makes the moon shine.
Such a talented people(in general).Easy 8

My wife, from Kenya, says the language is Luo, Lupita's first language.

I'm not sure most Americans like classical music.

Yes, Nick Drake !
His voice on this song always reminds me of Gordon Lightfoot (with perhaps a little Nick Drake thrown in).
Transcendent magic... I love the "simplicity" and the harmonies... beautiful!
Love the talking drum on this track.

I actually own this CD.  Purchased on a whim based on the strength of the Real World Label.  It's not the greatest African music but it is quite meditative.  I give it a 7.

This is one annoying-ass song.  At low volume playing through the house, it sounded like sleigh bells that wouldn't go away for ever.  Thought I was going to lose my mind.

I love the sleigh bells. And his voice reminds me of Nick Drake. What is not to love?

BTW Bill, seems like the lyrics are for another of his songs...
Wow! Sounds like Nike Drake is back... on the African savanna.
I love his music, it makes me feel very happy. Please play more!

It might be Swahili, but there are dozens of languages spoken in Kenya. Link says the song is a tribute to his brother.

I would love this song, were it not for the jingle bells...

Maybe that's why I find it so utterly transfixing. I always stop, close my eyes, and listen.
First heard this when it came out. Could be one of those cultural icons that you fire into the distant space probe. Or a time capsule on earth. Pretty much the basic essence of music - to me at least.
Great vibe, great song!

Thank you yes, I know he's from Kenya. I wondered where this version of the song was from because I have this album and this is a slightly more complex arrangement of the song than appears there.

Oh and by the way Bill & Rebecca, it's the lyrics to his other playlisted song Kothbiro that are incorrectly posted here.
I am surprised by the low rating.  This is so lovely.

Excellent for the head - very eeeeasy!

Very nice, I initially thought it was Indian origin, pleasant and interesting correlation that it isnt.
Very soothing, just what I need right now.

I never would have linked the two, but there is something similar going on! I thinks is also the stringed instrument he's playing that also sounds like Nick Drake.

Nice background music :)

I've got some ass trinkets for all of you.
Here, chew on them, chew on them good, thosel ittle brown  nuggets.
Now, I've also got some dental floss to sell you to help take all the SHIT out of your mouths.
Assholes.

this is really very nice for me right now.
Good love making music - I believe.
Nice; spacious; aesthetic. Perfect way to end off the day. You'll only find music of this quality on Radio Paradise or KCRW—the last real radio stations..
"Zimbabwen Ass Trinkets"

Man I was really worried there for a minute.

I could'a sworn that it was sleigh bells.

Dodged that bullet.
{#Arghhh}
The sleigh bells really take away from what is otherwise a good song.

Keep yer trinkets to yerselves, nitwits. He's not Zimbabwean.
Zimbabwean Ass Trinkets? As in 'I just put Zimbabwean Trinkets on my Ass' or .... hmmm .... you know .... if you had an Ass (like a donkey, except foreign) .... well you know .... if he (or she) had the trinkets on and kind of walked along trinketing? Do they have musically inclined Asses in Zimbabwe? Most Asses I've known aren't too musical. (Then again, it just might be me that attracts those kind of Asses.) Oh well .... I really like the song. But don't know about it being a birthing song .... the kid might turn out to be a .... trinket. - Riff P.S. Really love this song, did I say that? Especially the trinkets.
Translated this is actually "One" by Metallica

This song has been on our birthing soundtrack for the births of all three of our children, usually came on after the babe was born, and the medical staff have all enjoyed the groove, a bit different from what they're used to! A nice gentle sound to welcome a human to the world.
nice....

What we need is more sleigh bell... MORE SLEIGH BELL. Can you do that? I mean really POUND that thing. It's just not working without the sleigh bells. Goddamn it, I WANT MORE SLEIGH BELL! You just go to town on that sleigh bell, I mean really give it all you got.
splooge wrote:

Hmm... "Really POUND that Ass Trinket" has a decidedly different... um... ring to it? PS: feel free to delete this highly offensive comment--I just couldn't resist!!! I mean, c'mon--"Zimbabwen Ass Trinkets" is its own punchline! By the way, this reminds me of Nick Drake as well (the song, not the trinkets).
Very very nice music..
Thanks RP - what a wonderful song and a superb voice. This kind of music is invigorating and calming at the same time. - Riff
usually I like this type of music, but that constant beat in the background is at a really annoying pitch for me. Tambourine? Jingle Bells? I dunno, but it's really getting me aggravated!! Make it stop! My ONLY complaint about RP is that I wish it were like some other online radio stations where if you really aren't liking the song, you can skip ahead one song. Unfortunately, with RP I just end up turning something else on for the rest of the day.
Now this is good eclectic.
Very beautiful song! Mana, are you listening this one? I suddenly remembered high school times, when I heard it... (and obviously it came to my mind Wood singing that Russian song...)
Spectacularly good. And by the way, can we now ban that stupid word "meh" from the RP vocabulary?
meh. could do without it. especially right after that euphoria song. didn't like the segue. sorry bill! you're usually right on. you're my hero regardless
Wonderful
This makes me feel calm and peaceful.
Syncopated happiness!

That 'tympany' is a djembe, of a mid-range (there is a complete family of sizes and pitches) used for voicing and/or soloing. The player is answering and responding to the vocals. Just enjoy!!
This sounds so sunny and peaceful.
thought it was Milton Nashimento. Nice sounds.
Is that Swahili I hear?
