i never would have thought this was new order. i can't think of who i thought it sounded like, but definitely not new order. yet, i like it!
Love to hear New Order on RP or any recording truly...but dear lord, avoid the live experience at any cost. It'll just about ruin them for you...imagine Milli Vanilli with less dancing and zero enthuiasm but the same amount of pre-recorded backing tracks.
I don't know what happened to these guys. Same old stuff, rehashed. Samey, samey...

Great! and great memories! This and Dakota by Stereophonics were all over the only radio station I could pull in from my rented farmhouse in the Amiata region of Tuscany the winter and spring of '05...every day and night, this song played (and the other; thus they are eternally and favorably linked in my mind), a couple of times, the whole three months I was there...never got sick of it. It was an FM station out of Roma that only came in sometimes, and thankfully, often just when I was tired of my own iTunes collection. There was no Wi-Fi in that whole area so no RP; in fact, the only Internet access was a beat-up dinosaur in the often closed (and always freezing!) 'community room' next to a vintage 70s foosball table in the 500 year-old Santa Fiora town office building; yes it was a gorgeous and medieval-type remote and disconnected place but songs like this one made it feel less so in ways and times that really seemed to matter. There are some things that only music can do, connect, and forever link up to. Thanks for the memories, New Order, Italia, and RP!
They're at the Coachella this weekend... one of the reasons I wish I could drive the 3 miles and go see them.

Didn't know there was any newer than 1990's. but I was thinking how awesome this sone was and then read new order...not any that I had heard and I'm a fan...super treat.
First time I've heard this tune, and maybe even the band. More musical education a la Bill and RP. Nice song. 2005? It has quite the 80s feel. Reminds me of a slew of bands. I like it. Mellow, danceable, upbeat, kind of happy but wistful too. One of my kind of tunes.

I find that there's something essentially sweet in the musical arc of New Order. We who live have all grown older. Some kicking and screaming and some with grace. While those who fell, like Ian Curtis, never lived to see their children become smarter and smugger.

Oh, and the singer is seriously sh1te live - I've seen footage of a couple of open air gigs they've done (Glastonbury once, I think) and yer man's voice was weak and out of tune.
I've now ditched my recent CDs of them and instead enjoy sounds from their zenith, when they had edge and attitude and were innovative.

Sounds like you're working through some real personal sh*t with these guys, Fred. No one's gonna criticise you for liking most, but not all of their music. They were truly great once, and they're not anymore. Somehow we'll all have to find the strength to soldier on.

I have to agree. I really love New Orders work, but their stuff recently has sucked completely off the meter.
The photo on the cover really does my heart good. Can just ignore the lyrics and listen to the sound of singing and great instrumentation and pretend I am visiting in Hong Kong with my mother again instead of being here in my current life. Argh... This is one of the worst songs on the album along with "Krafty"... I just don't like the whole simplistic trippy happy rock sound.
Pop music at its best. No, the music doesn't break any new grounds, Bernard Sumner still can't sing and the lyrics are almost childishly simplistic. Still, it all makes for a great, uplifting listen. Junk food for thought.

This song isn't bad. But it is a little tame and you can tell the band has completely mellowed. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Clever...Joy Division into NO....still don't like this song though. How about Everything's Gone Green or even Blue Monday?
Their latest effort doesn't come close to matching Get Ready overall, though I might give this song a few more listens.
The light guitar at the end evokes a little more of the Electronic sound than "traditional" New Order, though I don't hear as much of it through the rest of the track. I'll have to stop by the shop on the way home and pick up a copy, this is good stuff.
Doesn't seem that bad to me...
