You might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you around

Walk with the rich, walk with the poor
Learn from everyone, that's what life is for
And don't you let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you around

Well I might say things that sound strange to you

And I might preach the gospel, I believe it's true
I won't let nobody drag my spirit down
Yes, I'm walking up to heaven
Won't let nobody turn me around

You might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you around

I Agree!  GREAT TUNE!!  I never heard of him before this, Thanx RP!
This is great! Does anybody know if this guy has ever worked with Harry Manx? Would be very curious about what they'd come up with.
Thanks for playing :)

His timing is brilliant and he plays just the right amount of notes - not too few nor too many.

Cool, don't think I've ever heard Eric Bibb on this station. I've been a big fan for a long time. Thanks RP. Our local arts presenters have presented Eric in concert 3 times over the past 20 years and his acoustic solo show is awesome. His daddy, Leon used to play a bit with Bob Dylan.

Definitely agree, if you get a chance to see him live, go. He puts on a great show.

great song to start the day with imo, Thank you NeilBlanchard!
This song is ageless, I think.

It's been 11+ years since I uploaded it. It got accepted immediately, without having to go to LRC, as I remember it. I miss the LRC and uploading songs, actually.

The original comment was intended as a compliment. EB is a hell of a showman, a consumate performer and an interesting bloke.
He has just not written that track which will be played 100 years from now, but I still have hope.
(That he will, not that I will be there).
More Mr Bibb, saw him at Byron Bay Blues fest 15 years ago,  he was awesome, followed by Keb Moe, it was a good afternoon.

Was vaguely thinking this, based on my limited exposure to Keb Mo. Love the syncopated clip-clopping beat.

Eric is great, just discovered him recently. His recent Deeper in the Well is excellent. Why not play more, he has plenty of albums with different styles. Would make a change from U2 etc.

somebody been listenin' to Ali Farka Tourre.
very cool!
The Blues is an ultra-conservative form of music.  Discuss among yourselves.  {#Group-hug}
I have no idea why - I like this !!
"They call me MISTER Bibb!"

Liking it...
Go and see him live, he's a christian man, and really good, if he has his band he's very good. I saw him at Bishopstock many moons ago, with his Swedish friends and that flicked the lights on for me. Really good. Good Stuff was the CD of that time, I still play it often, many of the songs on that album are in the live repertoire.
I think this version is *only* available on the Mali To Memphis CD.  This arrangement is sublime...

My upload!  {#Angel}

some subdued dobro for good measure

Good Blues... Bare bones, start out feeling low and soon...spirits lift...
Just like many of the great blues folks who paved his path.....Eric is making all his money in Europe.
We're liking "POP" too much over here.
just realised my foot was tapping, and it made me look up and check this song - yes, I like it, the Blues always gets me like that! Great words to this song too, make it the motto for today..... {#Motor}
Easily 8ish.....(harmonica)

The Blues give me the blues.
Gospel Blues, I reckon you'd call this. Love the harmonica - wah, wah, wah! Great back to basics 12-bar - 8 from the toe-tappin' Nottingham jury.
We saw Eric at a local theater last year. A superb evening, good voice and tales from the road. Worth seeking out IMO.
I like this music. Never heard of him.
How have I never heard of Eric Bibb before this? Why has everyone been hiding him from me?
Has a Keb' Mo vibe to it.  Really good.
really great stuff

We saw Eric Bibb at Jazz in Marciac last year. Dragged my spirit up by the socks!
This is a magnificent song .
I got a fever, and the only prescription... is more harmonica {#Cool}

If you get the chance, go and see this man in the live flesh, cos he is sooooo good.
I've seen him twice now, he's so chilled, and deeply religious, so if you like this, he's a great night.
Specially if Larry Crockett is on drums.

Nice!
Hi,

I just found out the name of Eric Bibb's own album with a live version of this song is on it: "Painting Signs".

"Painting Signs" is Eric's third studio album. Recorded mostly in Tonezone Studios, Kent, England, this album features several new compositions by Eric, as well as tracks written by some of the major influences in American roots music - Rev. Gary Davis, Pop Staples & Jimi Hendrix.

On this album, Eric is joined by bass player/producer Dave Bronze, keyboard player Janne Petersson and Henry Spinetti on the drum stool. Old friends Linda Tillery & The Cultural Heritage Choir provide wonderful backing vocals. The album also includes a live reworking of "Don't Ever Let Nobody Drag Your Spirit Down" featuring Eric duetting with the legendary Wilson Pickett.

Neil

this has been the best you played most of this afternoon. {#Whistle}

One of the all time greats.
Happy to have RP now! Thanks for this music!

love the rhythm to this song
Loved the craftsmanship of this song. Just great work. Eric Bibb, I think I have a man crush on you.
There's a mind-blowing live version of this song with Eric, Wilson Pickett and Linda Tillery & the Cultural Heritage Choir from the Edmonton Folk Music Festival. It's on Eric's Painting Signs album, a gem straight through. Watching the man is a spiritual experience, highly recommended.
eric bibb does a version of "I want to walk with Jesus" that gives me the shivers it's so good.
This guy keeps coming through Alberta and western Canada playing little pubs and really low key places. You know he does it for the love of the music; and you can hear it in his tunes. Real earthy and unpretentious. Greg Brown is cut from the same cloth, but a bit folkier. Thanks for making my quick stopover at home worth it: Stone Roses, John Kongos, James McMurtry and Eric Bibb. Thank you Mr. DJ!
