An under-appreciated album.

I first heard UT when Anodyne was released on U of Michigan college radio as I approached Ann Arbor from Chicago. It was night, I was tired: they played the whole Goddamn album and I was wide awake - awestruck. I managed to get to town and headed for the first music store  that I could find (remember those?) and bought every UT CD, including this one. Some bands are transformative: you just know it immediately. I treasure those CDs to this day.

UT split and Wilco and Son Volt were formed. I'm more of a Son Volt fan. Although Wilco is awesome, seen them both. Son Volt.

I'm not sure about the timeline of Queensryche vs. Uncle Tupelo, but from a book (those papery things bound together on one edge with writing on them) I read about the history of Wilco, they probably would have listened to Queensryche. They were just a couple of kids growing up in southern Illinois. I'm sure they heard a lot of country music too.

Well, I used to race motocross back in the day. I would still love to do that, but to many expensive hobbies can get expensive. Actually riding on the street kinda bores me.

I've bumped this from 8 to 9 - I really, really love this song! Need it on my MP3 player soon.  I don't know why, when I read the words "Uncle Tupelo," I assume it's going to sound like Uncle Cracker. The brain can be a person's worst enemy sometimes...

I vow to bypass that whole "Uncle" stigma and go for the "Tupelo" factor (wouldn't that be a great band-name?  "TupeloFactor")

Just saw Uncle Tupelo at the 9:30 club in DC and my boyfriend kept saying this too...  to the point I had to suggest he quit "hating on Wilco".   'New' UT sounded great as a whole and their lead guitarist was incredible!  Closed with a rockin' cover of "Are You Sure Hank Did it This Way".

Right state, but wrong city. Doris Day is from the Western Hills section of Cincinnati (same high school as Pete Rose), not Sandusky.
