Such a pale light
Such a long night
Pick up that key
Don't drop your gaze in your coffee
Is it me?
Do I look beautiful in the half light?

It's been so long
Years have gone
Since I belonged
Hold me please
Stay with me
And I will sleep

I will go now
But I will be with you
Hold my gaze
Hold me inside you

It's been so long
Years have gone
Since I belonged
Hold me please
Stay with me
And I will sleep

This is only a couple of listens away from being a 10!  Really dig this!

Yes, this is beautiful.  As is the title cut.  And imo, because of these and other awesome tracks, too much PT is almost never enough.
Real nice transition from 'Rivers'

$162 beaver buck on amazon.ca?  Ouch.

I own it in DVD format and, well, for the mp3 version, I just downloaded a 256 kbps file off i-net.

Love it.  Great road music especially when the vistas are extraordinarily beautiful which is typically the case in British Columbia.

Still offered at C$78 to C$352.....

Cheaper on Amazon.com (the US site) for US$30.

This is the Porcupine Tree space rock/Floydish period at its best.

Softer. Not weaker. That's why it's on the Lazarus extended CD.

First time hearing. Evocative and mystical.  Between very good and extraordinary, as usual, for PT.

...it took me awhile to track down this CD; precious to acquire but worth it...
Kinda one of their weaker ones to me..

Wilson couldn't have achieved that sound without Richard Barbieri.

Lovely piece.  .....

Just listened to this for the second time. Porcupine Tree just keeps bringing it.

Watched the American Masters on Lou today. I'll be raising one as well. {#Sad}

I have Half-Light on the Anesthetize DVD.

Any suggestions on how to rip to an MP3 file which I would burn to a CD for the automobile?

There is at least one software that lets you rip audio from DVDs.  If you have an audio interface to the computer, you could possibly record it to a device while playing the song.

Love it.

Definitely one of my favorite songs on the DVD!
Wished the guitar solo went on a little longer.
I'd love to see a new metric on RP — the number of people who use the PSD option for each song.

AMEN!!  BTW, that DVD, 'Anesthetize' is incredible! Soooo much more original, soooo much less repetitious than Marley.

The members of PT are never inactive! Steven Wilson produces so much music beyond PT. He has solo work, did an album with the lead Singer of Opeth (Storm Corrosion), etc.
Gavin Harrison has multiple drum clinics, played with King Crimson this summer. Colin Edwin has his own side projects as does Richard Barbieri.
The are one of the most active group of musicians in the business. Time to wish them to get together and make a new album. Or better yet, have another US tour!

Ha - you are right about that!

Looking forward to Wilson's re-mix of "Thick As A Brick"

But why are your colleagues annoyed?

They don't like lush, meandering soundscapes?
Leans to Pink Floyd left-sensibilities of Fripp with textured layers of Sigur Ros-Yeah      {#Confused}

you are right with Sigur Ros, of course. very remarkable that anyone would do songs that reminds people of SR, i thought they were so absolut singular this would never happen^^

Thought I had heard most of the PT library on here. This is new for me. Deadly nice.
I really like this, but some of us are trying to work.  {#Sleep}
I cannot hear any influence from Pink Floyd.
I so so dig this band.
This song is a perfect soundtrack for the low, warm Autumn sunlight streaming through my window on a really chilly morning

Man, this PT band is so good, the fans make favourable comparisons to some Icelandic band that nobody has heard about. -hehe-

I presume that is Richard Barbieri on the keyboards.  I wouldn't underestimate his contribution to the mood and sound of PT music scapes.

Yes, the live version has a great extended guitar solo by Steven Wilson.

I tuned in at just the right time!!! I am hopelessly in love with this song. (And Porcupine Tree, for that matter.) Thanks, Bill!!

Yeah, Limewire. It may not be the most ethical or even legal at that matter, but its there, and its free.

This song is on their 5.1 surround sound DVD mix of Deadwing as a bonus track. That's a lot cheaper than amazon. You'll need a home theatre system that can play DTS 5.1 though. All their surround sound stuff is really excellent and has extra tracks and goodies. The Deadwing 5.1 mix has the "International Pop Star" making of Deadwing video on it (the one you can watch on youtube) very fun stuff You might even try eBay- I think it's selling for a bit less there if you want the CD version.

yes good connection songs who in a way express a deep longing to be more than human to come home in a land beyond what human societies can deliver
I've never heard this version. Very nice

maybe a bit too much like pf, the beginning is identical to us and them
Wow, that was a new PT song for me. I didn't know they could be so mellow, and I like it. They are creative and original.
Now I know what it feels like to be attacked by a senior porcupine in slow motion.

I hate this song. But I'm thankful for RP--where else can you listen to a radio station and only hear one song a day that you hate?
Maybe the drummer is actually drumming through pillows in an effort to keep things quite, and I bet working up quite a sweat. heheh handyrae wrote:

PT has become one of my Favs, great tunes
Porcupine Tree is definitely, definitely the coolest band that RP has turned me onto. I cannot thank Bill and Rebecca enough. Oh yes I can. Pledge this month, January 2007!
I love this one. It's a little different from their others. But it seems impossible to buy (88 GBP on amazon.co.uk). Any ideas?

This drummer is a reincarnation of Bonzo and this song is a model of restraint.
To all of you that think this song is too slow or boring I pose this question: Do you always drive your car in high gear? Probably not. Sometimes you have to downshift to climb a hill. I think this song is beautiful in its simplicity. I especially like the sparse slide guitar parts. Less is more. I found much comfort in this song during a difficult time. What's so funny about peace, love and soothing songs?
A cool song, and shows you the dynamic range of this awesome band. They can do slow and spacey with the same skill they do loud and heavy.
Maybe I'll cue THE WIZARD OF OZ and see how it all synchs up. Nice tune.

Perhaps, but it's not the effect it has on me. Whenever I hear this song or other music in this genre all it makes me want to do is beat my head against the nearest wall. For some reason music like this makes me really aggitated.
Flaming Floyd? Pink Lips? Whatevuh, I like, 8.
Beautiful.

I'm not a huge fan of Porcupine Tree, although I do enjoy them everytime I hear 'em. Everytime I'm listening, and I hear a song come on that's obviously NOT Pink Floyd, but sounds a lot like them, I think that it's probably Porcupine Tree. This song was no exception... Still a good song though.

Pocupine Tree was formed in 1987 and Sigur Ros in 1994. However, one of the things that makes Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree so special is the way he is able to appropriate and blend other bands sounds into his own work creating something his own. Wilson's music has always been derivative of bands I've always appreciated and this is a bit of a welcome surprise, too.
