Tailored suits, chauffered cars
Fine hotels and big cigars
Up for grabs, up for a price
Where the red hot girls keep on dancing through the night
The claim is on you
The sights are on me
So what do you do
That's guaranteed
Hey little girl, you want it all
The furs, the diamonds, the painting on the wall

Come on, come on, love me for the money
Come on, come on, listen to the moneytalk
Come on, come on, love me for the money
Come on, come on, listen to the moneytalk

A French maid, foreign chef
A big house with king size bed
You've had enough, you ship them out
The dollar's up - down, you'd better buy the pound
The claim is on you
The sights are on me
So what do you do
That's guaranteed
Hey little girl, you broke the laws
You hustle, you deal, you steal from us all

Come on, come on, love me for the money
Come on, come on, listen to the moneytalk
Come on, come on, love me for the money
Come on, come on, listen to the moneytalk
Moneytalks, yeah, yeah

Money talks, B.S. walks
Money talks, come on, come on

Come on, come on, love me for the money
Come on, come on, listen to the moneytalk
Come on, come on, love me for the money
Come on, come on, listen to the moneytalk

Moneytalks, moneytalk, talk, talk
Hear it talk

Yeah, yeah, yeah Moneytalks

Awful version, worst performance (out of tune almost all the time). I wonder why do you continue playing this with such a low average rating? Do you REALLY take into account user's rating Bill?
 Ha ha, yep. Fail.

Bastardized!

I try to keep an open mind and maybe it's cause I hold my AC/DC as sacred, but what the hell is this?

Me too. I just used my first "1" evah. That flat singing hurts.

That phrase will never, ever, EVER be accurate on RP, regardless of your feelings about any particular song.  Seriously dude, think before you type such foolishness.
I usually don't rate songs I consider to be less than a three or four.  Just not worth my time and effort.  I'm making an exception for this one.  It's truly awful.  1.
just an off key day - she's really not this bad live!
I'm happy to see this rated so low.

Wow, honestly never heard this version of the song by Kathleen (Live), I would hear at least once to understand what motivated this score as "high" 3.6, reflected in a universe of 176 listeners, who decide by thousands of others? hmmm...
Or as we also already like in the "Listener Review Channel" situation where a handful of 30 voting, decide whether or not the choice of a particular song, on behalf of thousands other listeners?  hmmm...and even now that this is stupid arrogance of a listener has the effrontery to say "do not play this again (ever!)"? Wtf? You're not giving orders to your house, you know.
And, more seriously, the production RP obeyed!. The regrettable and unfortunate "order" was written here on Apr 08, 2008, and the song was played last time in RP on May 09, 2008. This means nothing, but a bad precedent, I think.

Yeah, I don't like it either...ah, Rickie Lee Jones is on now...her voice is a lot more interesting than Kathleen's.
This is absolutely, totally, without question the worst version of Money Talks that has ever been recorded and actually played on the radio. I'm sure Kathleen is a talented person in general, but this tune shows an incredible lack of ability to choose appropriate material. Or maybe she was just stoned out of her gourd...whatever..PLEASE DO NOT PLAY THIS AGAIN (ever!).
Add one more vote for the original.

Wow this set SUCKS!!!
^^ what he said. this is dangerously close to a 1. Maybe if Tori Amos was singing a duet....
Ok, I logged on to RP today and laughed when I thought to myself, "Whatever with my luck I'll prob run into that CRAP Kathleen Edwards" and then I giggled. AND THEN IT CAME TRUE. LOVE RP HATE Kathleen Edwards
The original wasn't great, this is worse. Please play ACDC if you're going to subject us to this dribble.
This has to be one of the worst sounding covers I have ever heard. Good god!
Wow this set SUCKS!!!

Crap. I missed this one and now I'm morbidly curious. It can't possibly be as bad as all that.
I hope you caught it this time...it IS as bad as all that.
This is bad. Flat, dull, uninspired. But its nice to hear something this bad.. puts things in a fresh perspective. heh

B-A-A-D. I've never seen a song rated lower than 5-something on the RP playlist. And yet, I'm kind of charmed that Bill keeps it in the rotation.....

I like it! ...then again I'm a sucker for cover tunes. I just like variety, I guess. In that vein...thanks!!
I always thought sucko-barfo was a little harsh, now I realize it has its place.
Wow. This gets a 8 - just for the apoplexy it's caused among fellow RP listeners. My computer is dripping venom from viewing this blog. HA!!
I think I'd like to see her live now.
What is this ? The recording sounds so bad, and she is out of tune !
I think this song takes the cake for the most f-bombs (or variations thereof) dropped in the comments.
Yeah, I dunno about this either...
What is this, a bootleg recording?
Oh fuck and I thought Angus' voice was bad.

I LOLed...other tunes of hers are good, but this is dubious at *best*...I changed my rating from 4 to 1, partially due to the nerve-jangling induced by the audio quality, but now I'm going to re-adjust it to three. It's gotta be really, really awful for me to go below three.

It sounds like this song was covered by the guys at "Will It Blend?"

SACALO! terrible low-quality song!!!!!! DONT PLAY IT, BILL, PLZ
What a bad idea. Please stop. At least when AC/DC performs this, it sounds like they *believe* what they're saying.
The horrid feedback noises are making my retarded cat freak the f*ck out.
YIKES! What the hell is that awful aliasing noise?? AAAARRRGGHHHH....it's driving icepicks through my skull!!! Anyone else hearing that right now? Sounds like someone downsampled from 48 to 22 kHz without filtering first...
It would be OK... but something is wrong with that right channel.
No audience bootlegs please.
yikes. attention DJ: right click -> delete.
please get this off!! the sound 's really f#cked up!
Another corrupt file!!!! MY EARS!!!!!
was this really necessary?

nah...just bad. it disappears in the background if your reading something so it isn't totally garbage. but not good none the less. A solid 3 for now (near 4am and I might be in a giving mood...who knows)
I've always wondered how bad something has to be rated before Bill stops playing it. I consider this my petri dish for that experiment. Right now, 50% of the ratings are < or = 3.

I love RP as much as anyone, but how bad does a song have to suck -- by universal listener acclaim -- before it's put to rest?
I think Bill just plays for as long as it tweaks his fancy - I guess that's the advantage to running your own radio station. Personally I think it's an awesome cover though, I love covers that rip a song completely out of it's original context, so I'm glad it's still in the playlist despite the low ratings. :P

This is the worst song I have ever heard on RP. (Bill does a great job, so I'm not picking on him.) AC/DC is tough to cover, so maybe that's it. After more thought, she just sucks on this song.
get some bullocks and follow it up with AC/DC!!
why do they have to ruin great songs like that!

Too bad she didn't do better! :) I bought a few Kathleen Edwards tracks from iTunes and really like them, but i cherry-picked heavily. Her music is good fun but on some tracks her vocal ... talent is really painful.

I'm most aware of Neil Young's wicked sense of humor when I hear one of his lead guitar solos.
Is there any rating lower than "Sucko-barfo"?
I did, which is why I'm so taken by this. She sang "National Steel" first which pulled me in, and finished her set with this great AC/DC cover, then did a very moving rendition of "Sweet Little Duck" that had half the audience in tears. Unbelievable! Besides, this was my fist time....my first ever upload to RP!!moshevelvul wrote:

More fun than some genre-bender covers. Sometimes a radically different twist is really good (say, Richard Thompson's take of "Oops, I did it again!" (no, seriously!)) and sometimes it's not (Pete Yorn's "Splendid Isolation" on 'Enjoy Every Sandwich').
Lighten up, ball eaters!
