Yesterday came suddenly, tomorrow will receive
Today now you're at the wheel, I'll ask how does it feel
Yesterday when Heaven's gates, I contemplate, they seem so far
Today they ain't so far away and almost see my train

Keep what ya got, by giving it all away
Keep what ya got, by giving it all away
Keep what ya got, hold it, don't stop
Keep what ya got, by giving it all away

When your halo slips for good, you'll have to wear your hood
Could you feel the breeze of fear on all the cynics, I'm ya mimick
All you losers, all abusers wasting all my precious energy

Keep what ya got, by giving it all away
Keep what ya got, by giving it all away
Keep what ya got, hold it, don't stop
Keep what ya got, by giving it all away
Remember where you came from

Sisters who told ya on a rainy day
They said that Heaven holds a place for all of those who pray
And if you don't believe in my dream then you don't care anyway
Nobody or nothings ever getting in your way
Even as you pray to the Lord but don't feel you belong
No one's gonna notice if you ever right or wrong
And if you and your next neighbour, yeah, you don't quite get along
No one's gonna notice if you're singing anyway
Those not coming in for free well they they gotta pay, aah...

I like the line "When your halo slips for good, you'll have to wear your hood" - nice image.
This caught my ear while writing a report at work (usually I don't listen to music while working but today is an exception). Love the use of a phaser (I think that's what I'm hearing) here - it's subtle.
Brilliant chorus… 🙄

wondering from where the main piano lick emanates.  "Teotihuacan" from Noel Gallagher was the first place I heard it, but who gets the credit?

They sure did.  I guess the difference is that we were lucky enough to miss the dickish live performances —- we've seen em probably five times, and every time they just rocked there was no friggin tomorrow.

Thought this was "Teotihuacan" myself when it started out.

Funny you mention that. Echoing rah's comment below about Noel Gallagher's contribution to this track — it's also a reworking of Noel's "Teotihuacan" from the X-Files movie soundtrack, which is what I thought was being played at first. Surprise, surprise. Time for me to check out that Ian Brown album...

Oh, and this is good... as I was deciding whether or not to switch RP off and turn on Porcupine Tree's "Deadwing" (Pink Floyd triggered Porcupine Tree in my ear).

Ian made my decision to stay at RP ;-)

Right... strange that BRMC is from California, as they are pretty much the only band around today holding down the "Manchester Sound"...  Kasabian could too, but they are all over the place sometimes.

I've really enjoyed this album (and I do say that as a big stone roses fan).

Does anyone know what he's up to lately?

I'd like this better if it didn't suffer by comparison to the absolutely stellar Stone Roses (first album).

Well, yes and no, imo.  Just because Liam and Noel are a couple of idiots doesn't mean they didn't make some good music.  And, from what I've seen of Ian Brown on BBC, I'd be throwing stuff at him if I had the misfortune to attend one of his shows - and I was a huge Stone Roses fan.

This song always sounds so cool when it starts.  I like it.

Yea, what's with "jelani"? Who cares what it sounds like? Doesn't most music sound like "other" music? I quite enjoyed this track, having heard it for the first time. Not all of us are music historians. We just like what we like. It's all subjective. I don't "get" Mariah Carey fans - but I don't wish them a tortuous death, either. Easy with the language, here. We're civilized people, a part of a cool community of music lovers.

Bud you need to update you play list to this decade. There is lots of good music that has been created this decade, even this year. Now when you use the f word you know you are going crap, don't you!

the name of the track is "Amazing Journey" -- but the guitar riff in this song is actually more like a slowed-down version of the riff in "Sparks" from Tommy.

If you like this song and others from this album that are played on RP, then get the album! It's a great album all 'round. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. sholtzma
totally diggin this
Such a great haunting intro! Bring it on.
I did buy the whole album, and I'm happy with it. There are a lot of horns, as some have noted, but I don't think it's excessive. Loving this Cake-Beatles-Brown set, Bill!
Ten goddamn ten goddamn ten goddamn ten goddamn ten goddamn ten goddamn ten goddamn ten goddamn ten. Makes me wanna brawl with God. Do I hear some recovery?
I so love the Stone Roses. Have probably listened to that album about a 1000 times (no joke). It is so cool to rediscover Ian here on RP. It's funny how Mr. Goldsmith and I have very similar tastes in music (that's why I've stuck around). He keeps introducing me to new music by artists I've never heard of and reintroduces me to artists I've already fallen in love with. This station is truly magical!
Ian is making good music, but I've grown tired of his voice, It seems like he has settled into the same buzzing pitch in every_single_song on the entire album.
From the Jacques Loussier Trio playing Bach to Ian Brown. What an amazing flow!
The more I hear this track, the better I like it.
Dreamy...Utopitarian? I like the ethos this song speaks of.....Damn Hippies!

This really grows on you - starts off 'ho hum', then just gets better and better as it worms its way into your mind. Nice.
Can't help hearing the United Airlines version of Rhapsody in Blue in those first piano notes...
