Movin' like the fog on the Cumberland River
I was leaving on the Delta Queen
I wasn't ready to go
I'm never ready to go
Twenty-seven years of nothin' but failures and promises that I couldn't keep
Oh Lord, I wasn't ready to go
I'm never ready to go

Let it ride
Let it ride easy down the road
Let it ride
Let it take away all of the darkness
Let it ride
Let it rock me in the arms of strangers, angels until it brings me home
Let it ride
Let it roll
Let it go

Loaded like a sailor stumbling off the ferry boat
I was at the bar 'til 3:00
Oh Lord, and I wasn't ready to go
I'm never ready to go
Tennessee's a brother to my sister Carolina where they're gonna bury me
And I ain't ready to go
I'm never ready to go

Let it ride
Let it ride easy down the road
Let it ride
Let it take away all of this darkness
Let it ride
Let it rock me in the arms of strangers, angels until it brings me home
Let it ride
Let it roll
Let it go

I wanna see you tonight
Dancing in the endless moonlight
In the parking lot, in the headlights of cars
Someplace over the moon
Where they moved the drive-in theater
Where I left the car that I can't find that I still got the keys to

Let it ride
Let it ride easy down the road
Let it ride
Let it take away all of this darkness
Let it ride
Let it rock me in the arms of strangers, angels until it brings me home
Let it ride
Let it roll
Let it go

One of my absolute Fave's of Ryan!

Many thx for playin' this!!
Not really down with the latest evolutionary step in the RA songbook, but he does remain one of the most creative singer/songwriters of the recent past.    Cold Roses has a great range and is an album I find myself going back to every now and again.  Not quite sure what the whole Taylor Swift fascination was all about...

At some point he embraced this whole thing and did a cover of "Summer of 69", I think at a venue at which he had previously yelled at a concert-goer for requesting it. Something like that.

What confusion? One of them is a fine photographer.

Don't let Ryan see this!  He apparently goes ballistic when people confuse him with (unmentionable name here).

I was seriously just thinking about logging off to play this!
When I heard Bill presenting the song I understood "Bryan Adams" and it just did not make sense to me when the music started, then I understood what a huge difference a single letter can make (this is much better btw!)

Wow, I thought you said Bryan Adams... I was like, hey this guy sounds great, better than ever! He's had some kind of mid life catharsis.

Still, a decent song...

Agreed - some of his stuff is a little drab, I just can't get in to it for whatever reason.  Some of his stuff is great, as good as anything in the business.  I'd put this song up there near the top, he nailed it.

Well, send it on!  There are instructions for submitting songs - don't be shy.  Always room for new music, even if a song's already listed. A new version adds to the mix! {#Yes}
Good stuff, sometimes I forget how great he can be. More Ryan Adams please Bill. :-)
Don't like Ryan Adams... at all.
You're right. Cold roses is a great song.

Actually, it's a lovely cover - it's blind-embossed. Looks like a old ceiling tile.
Two-disc set—uh, not exactly "new," Bill—all of which is pretty durn good. Yeehah!

  Love this and "Cold Roses" {#Dancingbanana_2}

Not all his stuff clicks with me, but this is one of my favorites. Great tune.
I was doing other stuff, working, here in the house, talking to the family, this was on in the background.  Maybe it was in the background, but some part of my overtaxed brain picked up on this and I had to come over and see who and what this was.  Very nice.  I really rather like this.  An 8 on the first listen and looking forward to hearing again.  Cheers!

TEN!!

We're seeing Ryan and Oasis in London, Ontario in December, the show that was postponed after Noel Gallagher was attacked in Toronto.

badass song.
This album cover would make a really good doormat!
Some very nice guitar work here.
I thought Bill just said BRYAN Adams...phew! lucky escape!

Enlighten us. Who are these artists? Why isn't this original? Yours truly Somebody who doesn't take sweeping generalizations lying down.

Ryan Adams is too good for his own good. I hope he survives his own genius. God, I love his music.
Love it lots and lots
Nice to hear this again..
I hear a little "Panama Red" thing goin' on here ... He'll steal your woman then he'll rob your head.
Wow....love the Ryan!!!
Great tune - and right after a string of great tunes (Steely Dan, etc) Bill, you are on an absolute roll. . . it's friday afternoon and time to go home and I don't want to leave!
10, 10 this song is actually 10 times more than 10 :)
I loooove Ryan.... great performer...really honest in his music...not bad this "cold roses" but I think at "love is hell 1&2" like one of my favourites records ever!!!...so deep his voice, so deep his music...just can't stop listening it when I need emotions

Dropped off the radar? He put out 3 cd's in 2006- and cold roses was a double cd!
MORE WHISKEYTOWN!!

"Summer of '69" was BRYAN Adams, he is not quite the same as RYAN, not nearly...I hear this confusion practically EVERY time I mention his music. Ryan is wayyyy better, (in my humble opinion of course!)
That zinging sound is the original post going over your head in a blur of sarcasm. Or did I just miss your sarcasm about the first sarcasm? Let me know....
"Cold Roses" is in my opinion the best after "Gold" as it suprises, not like the other albums. Thumbs up for Ryan! Not Bryan :P

His downfall seems to be that he has begun to write an enormous amount of material in a short period of time but has forgotten how to separate the wheat from the chaff. Some of his career decisions also seem more driven by spiting the record company than by good music - almost the entirety of Rock N Roll, for one egregious example. But I do enjoy an awful lot of what's on the new album even if it's all just a bit to much to digest.
because he was upstaged by his own ego ! i am always dissapointed by how much i like his songs - cause i think he's such a prick - there are usualy 4 or 5 gems on each of his records though

wow, i clicked on this just now and was rather surprised to see i'd rated a ryan adams song 10, started wondering what i'd been all hopped up on that day but thought i'd better listen again for a minute. i think it's the way his vocals ride along the music very pleasent with the the electric guitar accompniament, good song i think i'll leave the rating for now.
Not a big fan of Ryan Adams, but for some reason I just dig this song! :nodhead:

Good song. I only have the album Gold but might consider this one as well. Right after a whole bunch of others....
Nice Ryan Adams song... sometimes I think he gets a bit whiny but not in this tune :)

Is it lame to post twice in a thread for a song you uploaded? Oh well...since i was brought up: LET IT RIDE Moving like the fog on the Cumberland River I was leaving on the Delta Queen And I wasn't ready to go I'm never ready to go 27 years of nothing but failures and promises that I couldn't keep Oh lord, I wasn't ready to go I'm never ready to go Let it ride, Let it ride easy down the road Let it ride, Let it take away all of the darkness Let it ride, Let it rock me in the arms of stranger's angels until it brings me home Let it ride, Let it roll, Let it go Loaded like a sailor Tumbling off a ferry boat I was at the bar till three Oh Lord, and I wasn't ready to go I'm never ready to go Tennessee's a brother to my sister Carolina where they're gonna bury me And I ain't ready to go I'm never ready to go Let it ride .... This is the only Ryan Adams album I have, but I found his lyrics, on the whole, to be well considered.
a step in the right direction for ryan. fingers crossed for the next two albums!

Yay - my one and only succesful upload to date. "Wonderwall" is all fine and good but there's so much great original stuff it's nice to hear it. I have "Easy Plateau" in the pipe on the LRC and someone else has "Cold Roses" so here's hoping we'll get some more. TJ

This song is VERY catchy. It's not a bad thing, but something is forcing me to play it over and over again, and I'm probably starting to annoy those around me.
ahhh. it's lovely to hear him going back to the country sound. good stuff.
