Moved on to clear the air,
Just to be alone,
We're perfect on our own,
Settle down,
Try not to clean it up,
I'm ready in my time,
I'm here I'm doing fine,
Settle down my friend.

Stepped on my toes and let me down,
Been sending messages around,
Not quite ready now.

No need to bottle up,
It's over and it's done,
Let's drink to moving on.
Settle down my friend.
Settle down my friend.

Stepped on my toes and let me down,
Been sending messages around,
Not quite ready now.

What a disturbing cover, for some reason. Good song, though, not disturbing.

I agree about the cover and the music!

Interesting bio for this band. Can't wait to impress my friends when I drop the knowledge that they are a National Hunt horse race held annually at Aintree Racecourse, near Liverpool, England!

A Pedant writes: Well, the English 'whisky/whiskey' is a phonetic corruption of the Gaelic uisge beatha (very rough pron: ooshke baya), or 'water of life' (a not infrequent name for spirits), so whichever English word is used is just plain wrong. A big {#Nyah} to the Sasainnaich for so badly mangling a good Gaelic term :o)

In Scotland, whiskey/whisky tends to be used for blended spirits, and it's usual to use the term 'malt' for a single malt whiskey.

From grammarist.com:
The difference between whiskey and whisky is simple but important: whisky usually denotes Scotch whisky and Scotch-inspired liquors, and whiskey denotes the Irish and American liquors. The word itself (both spellings) is of Celtic origin, and modern whisky/whiskey distillation practices originated in Ireland and Scotland. Using whiskey to refer to Scotch whisky can get you in trouble in Scotland.

This is so catchy.   Great
Is it possible there was a 2 year space between plays of this great tune? Criminal

Great set! Even though it's too early to start drinkin'...(oh, yeah, I'm at work too *sigh*) 7:07 am - Grand National - Drink to Moving On
7:04 am - The Housemartins - Happy Hour
7:01 am - The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)

The 'disco' guitar and beat make the song for me. I like this more each time I hear it. I'll be checking out some more from them.
I really like this entire album. What ever happened to these guys?

I'll drink to moving on from that hateful Band O' Bees song. Ick. I need a drink to make my skin stop crawling. An automatic 8 for this one!
No great words of wisdom here...I just wanted to see the bananas doing the splits to the beat* *almost to the beat, that is

Well at least we know why Kasabian have the higher profile - this lot are second rate at best
MMM... I knew of Grand National well before Kasabian happened so i think if anyone follows anyone it's the other way around. Grand National's album is a bit hit and miss but there are some great tunes on it, this one illustrates that more than adequately. Certainly worth trying the album though!
I like this.... not bad...
Bought this a month ago and absloutely love the album. Lots of different styles on it. Not a dud on the whole cd.

I dunno, I'm generally ambivalent toward Kasabian, on neither the "love 'em" nor "hate 'em" bandwagon. But this song creams anything I've heard from Kasabian so far.
Great discovery!

Grand National's album, Kicking the National Habit, released in the UK in July 2004, has been in my music rotation for one year now, and I uploaded two songs to the library because they are a fantastic band who has not had much press in the States. If you like Kasabian, you'll love Grand National. Drink to Moving On is a funky rock tune, and Talk Amongst Yourselves is a full of trippy sounds and relaxing vocals. To read more about them, go to https://www.musiccapitol.blogspot.com and search in the May 2005 archives.
Nice call!
