Your friends hold the lullabies
They watch the way the night lies
Soft sounds, heads like a radio
Hearts wrapped in blankets laying low
Hearts wrapped in blankets laying low

You're cold, maybe you just missed the sun
You fall, feeling like it's just begun
So far, keeping it together's been enough
Look up, rain is falling, looks like love

Your boy is like a memory
Some sense of touch and a melody
Your girl, she's a renegade
A hurricane that keeps you there, safe
Hurricane that keeps you there, safe

You're cold, maybe you just missed the sun
You fall, feeling like it's just begun
So far, keeping it together's been enough
Look up, rain is falling, looks like love

No comments for 8 years?  Guess I'll go first - I quite like this; the oboe is unusual in popular music (assuming it is an oboe, and not  a sample or synth - it's hard to tell through my laptop speaker)

So do I; I guess that's why I like it.

Look up, rain is falling, looks like love . . .
I like the Symphonie Fantastique quote!
This feels very Imogen Heap to me.
Stars fell off my radar many years ago, and this song surprises me, it's good
Wow. One of the few Stars tunes I really don't like. How about Fixed, Changes, or even Wasted Daylight?
A little too dancey for me. (Lazarus will like it, I suspect!!)
Fusion only adds to the con-Fusion.
Stars on 45.

If stars look up, was'sup?

Where is it supposed to go?  Music isn't required to have a "destination".  Formula is the enemy of creativity.
Time to put this one to sleep.
Like driving west to setting sun and looking in the review mirror seeing her's town vanishing into a distance.

True, but I've always loved this little shrug of a song.

if you're not in a hurry to get somewhere, it's quite pleasant. like a cup of tea on a rainy sunday morning.

Meanders all over the place without going anywhere

First impression was: Boring.

Seceond impression now is: Boring.

I'll be shocked if this song has never been used on Grey's Anatomy.

Nice
I woke up with this song in my head this morning, but I didn't know the name of it... and was hoping Bill would play it today!  Thanks Bill for being a psychic DJ!  {#Sleep}

Thanks for playing this..  I was going through a pretty rough time a few years ago, and a friend of mine sent me this cd and it was exactly what I needed at the time.  First time since that I've heard it.. brought me back.

Thought this was Ingrid Michaelson for a sec...
Ethereal...nice...pretty....

Wow...this one is quite nice, I have never heard it before...I love hearing new things that are good. Once again, thanks B and R...

Life in a Northern Town by Dream Academy, but maybe it was an English Horn?

Doubt it made it to the US ( too whimsical ) but I am reminded of a TV show of my youth called Noggin the Nog. The show opened with a similar horn sound... In the lands of the North, where the Black Rocks stand guard against the cold sea, in the dark night that is very long the Men of the Northlands sit by their great log fires and they tell a tale... And those tales they tell are the stories of a kind and wise king and his people; they are the Sagas of Noggin the Nog. Welcome to Northlands, a tribute to Noggin, King of the Nogs and the People of the Northlands.
The "Horn" in question here is an English Horn - i.e. an Alto Oboe in F. That's what Berlioz wrote for - not sure if what is playing here is an English Horn, sounds like an Oboe to me - but close enough!
It's an oboe. The original from Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique is a duet between the cor anglais (hence the horn reference) and the oboe. This uses just the oboe bit. Quite a cool little song
... take heart look up at the stars!

Hinterland's Who's Who? I went to grade school with Amy Millan. Everyone used to think we looked like sisters. That shot in the billboard looks like it's her when she was a kid. We look nothing alike now, though!

I am not a Canadian, but Wikipedia says the following: "The track "Look Up" uses a horn solo from the beginning of the third movement of Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz." The track "The Woods" contains quotes from the movie "Grey Gardens", the famed cult-classic documentary from 1975.

You're hearing oboe and violins, I'm guessing. Some French horns toward the end. The way her voice is processed reminds me slightly of some of the stuff Imogen Heap does.
A wonderful song in the most genuine sense of the word.

I don't know what the musical term is but I love the flat harmonies or whatever it is.

Yea, reminiscent of countless breathy females singing sensitive lyrics, so many that they start to all sound the same after awhile. Too bad I love the genre so much and could listen to it ad infinitum... Speaking of copy cats, Sia just came on; is she Jewel's voice clone? Here we go again...
Hmm, the first 3 seconds it started as King Crimson, but then:( Average primitive song

Play it enough, and it will grow on me.

Both of their albums, "Heart" and "Set Yourself on Fire" are worth buying. From the first, Elevator Love Letter and Death to Death are my picks, along with Ageless Beauty, Sleep Tonight and Set Yourself on Fire from the album Set Yourself on Fire.

Sounds a lot like Sarah Harmer. That's not a bad thing.
Real beautiful voice, as well as an excellent sound coming across the instruments.

Two tunes are being reviewed on the LRC right now - Elevator Love Letter 63% and Soft Revolution 79%. Read in a Toronto newspaper that Amy Milan, one of the two lead singers, has a solo project due out in the next little while. Promises to be great...
I first heard this group on the Alias program in Season 2. "Going, Going, Gone" was a great song and I bought the CD. Also love "This Charming Man" cover (by Morrisey?). Great CD to mellow out to.

No, but Bill has blended this one into "Let Go" on several occasions...perhaps that's what you're thinking? Nice tune, not incredible, but not bad either. Certainly pretty good.

Really interesting voice - sounds like it has a lot of different colours. Liked it.

What does her voice remind me of... :-k Just can't think of it, but I'm going to start the song off with an 8.
Just discovered Stars, love them, and thought they'd be at home at RP so I uploaded this and Your Ex-Lover Is Dead. Interesting lyrics, rockin grooves, pretty melodies. I dig it.
Wasn't expecting this today! Very very good. But then, I'm a sucker for 3/4.
