Baby, calm down
Baby, come back down to the ground
Let me hold you
Let me hold this moment a spell
I can tell

That there's really not a lot of options open
For another kind of aftermath you're hoping
That there's something else that you can do to
Make it come true, make it perfect, make it OK

Light the marquees
Santa Anas twist through the trees
And while the line swings
Putting all your light things with his
Trouble is

That there's really not a lot of options open
For another kind of aftermath you're hoping
But there's something else that you can do to
Make it come true, make it perfect, make it OK

And there's really not a lot of options open
For another kind of aftermath you're hoping
That there's something else that you can do to
Make it come true, make it perfect, make it OK

I just heard this song for the first time and immediately thought, "Oh my god, they found a lost song from Kevin Gilbert!"  The singing, arrangement, and music sound like a spot-on imitation of Gilbert.  I searched the thread and didn't see anyone else mention that.  Am I the only one to have noticed this eerie similarity?  Or am I the only one here who knows who Kevin Gilbert is?

Yes, and if it weren't for your utter devotion, he'd have no fan base left at all. Death canonized Elliott Smith. It's been less kind to Gilbert.

I definitely hear the similarities. Haven't heard much in the way of KB solo...but I am familiar with Toy Matinee. Great stuff!

Nice melody and chord changes.

It's almost like Michael Penn and Aimee Mann are... married, or something. Even.

Michael Penn...why is that name familiar? Was he the Kind of Wishful Thinking? No, that was Go West. Oh wait, it was No Myth. Right. (Also, was going to make a dumb joke about him being the brother of Sean Penn, but he really IS the brother of Sean Penn. Glad I didn't go there.)
Er.....

Where do you go? I'll make sure to avoid that place.
Well I totally love the CD cover art. Very nice.
uff....this is the most boring song on RP today...
Do I hear a hammer dulcimer on occasion in this tune?

Just another Moonlight Mile... doot da doo...
This one directly after Euphoria - Fire In The Hole? That's like falling in a deep dark hole. Damn. All the power built by Euphoria erased by the first few seconds. That's what some unlucky programming is able to do with you.
And there's really not a lot of options open For another kind of aftermath. You're hoping that there's something else that you can do to Make it come true, Make it perfect, Make it O.K. SWEET!

It's true. This song does grow on you. This song reminds me a lot of Aimee Mann's work. Michael Penn has a great voice, very thoughtful.

Don't worry - it will grow on you. Catch him on this tour if you can. He will not disappoint. Saw him last time around and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.
It has! I've been listening to this CD a lot over the last week or so..... "Walter Reed" and "Automatic" are excellent songs! I could do without the three instrumentals though.
