I remember

We fight about nothing and I'm in a huff
This makes you frustrated and then we make up
Shorten the distance for the long view
This is the conclusion I come to

Who's been sleeping in my bed?
Laid between music sheets and me

How can we know the partners from their parts
A small expiration, as they say in France
Hence the conclusion I've come to
Come too

Sometimes I have to hide from your eyes
Too close within your sights for disguise

You know it's a strange thing, this physical act
So fearsomely naked, so matter of fact

Down on my knees

Landed here from PSD today.  Wow, cannot believe this song has sat on the shelf since May 2008....!  I love it and only discovered it by RP — one of the first "new-to-me" tracks back when I first listening here, so I have a special fondness for it.  Gets an 8 from me!  {#Sunny}

Indeed, very Kate-ish! Nice enough, but the lyrics aren't exactly big on philosophy!

WOWWWWW cool song
meh
The child-like, little girl singing voices are getting tiresome. Perhaps this one even a bit more so due to the subject matter (or lack thereof)?

I get it... Short stories... Goldilocks... who is sleeping in my bed... Clever... except... no. Fun to listen to, though.

I expected her to be Kate Bush....
I hate this instantly because it sounds like Kate Bush. The weak lyrics and inane base-line only solidify my dislike.

These guys and Kate Bush should drop some acid, can you imagine the music that would come out of that union?
Thought it may have been Milady Bush. Alas no but the voice is sweet none-the-less.

Yuck!
Hmmm... This is more interesting than I thought the first time I heard it. I hear Schroeder's toy piano in the background, which I haven't heard since "Magnet and Steel" from the 80's. Bumping it from a 6 to a 7
This Crap is growing on me.... from 6 to 7.

Amazing that this isn't Kate. My kids love this track. Therefore, and thusly, this is likeable.
I agree. At least the ripoff is not as heinous as Tori Amos. This is more in the realm of "extreme influence". Good track.

I love this song but this album, Short Stories, is jekyll and hyde. After hearing a few songs from it on RP, I spent weeks tracking the elusive thing down, finally downloading it from a small mp3 site. Now I realize why it was so hard to find. No record label in the US would take a chance on Short Stories, due to its eclectic nature. With trimming, it would make a good 6-song EP, but instead is an uneven 14-track album. While it has some great downtempo numbers -- especially this and "Skimming Stones" -- they're off-set by some annoyingly bad tracks. "Bring It On" sounds like it was sung, produced and recorded by tone-deaf orcs. Or Britney Spears. Either way, if you can make it through all 3:12 of that track, congrats on being a masochist.
Autamata - Short Stories Autamata aren't so much a band as a collective. Founded by Mayo man Ken McHugh a couple of years ago, it's already been a vehicle for some of the most talented people on the Dublin indie scene. Their second album is an impressively eclectic affair, containing elements of folktronica, electro-pop and bass-heavy funk. It may sound a bit too diverse to hang together, but the crucial unifying element is the Tyco Brahe's Carol Keogh, who lends her wonderfully breathy vocals to eight of the 13 tracks here. Elsewhere there's singing and lyrical contributions from newcomer Sarah Verdon, energetic drumming from Halite's Graham Hopkins and even a slightly gooey performance from McHugh himself. The album is well named - just like a really good collection of short stories, you're never quite sure what to expect next. Impressive stuff. CD Review by Andrew Lynch. Reviewed on 12 October 2005

In fact they are so similar you'd wonder if this could even be called an original piece of music. I mean fair enough, take a sample, but try not to rip the whole thing, or at least add something to it and make it your own. I liked this song right to the point where I'd realized I heard it before...

Ahhhhh thats where I got the Bjork from - so it is Kate Bush singing with Bjorks music.
sounds like a toned down non accented Bjork.

Kate Bush is better, but I also see the similarity. Very nice.

Ok, I was afraid to mention Kate Bush and this group in the same sentence, so thank you for being the offender when someone's ready to flame ! :P J/k, but it surely sounds somewhat like K.B.
if you look through past posts, you'll see a lot of comparisons to Kate Bush. the voice sounds very like her in spots, altho the bass-line is ripped straight out of Bjork's "Come to Me"...

I like this. It has that fairy tale allusion that i love. However, this sounds just like Kate Bush. In fact every time i hear it i check to see if it is Kate Bush. My point is that no one seems to get super pissed at this person for sounding like Kate Bush but people FREAK out on Tori who does not NEARLY sound half as kate bush-ish as this. Why is that?
At some point, I had to turn down the volume because it sounded like a there was cell phone ringing out a holiday tune in the office. There wasn't.
Some kind person will surely find and post the lyrics to this?
you mean, this isn't from Kate's new album?!?
ok, this is getting way too much play

Definately... with Bush's vocals. Not bad.

I always like this and give it higher than a 5 until she starts singing, and then I remember why this song doesn't work. It's hard to use the word hence in a song, ya know?
Goldfrapp+Cocteau Twins+Hooverphonic=Happy Me. I love it! More, please
goldfrappy? i like.
bring back jellyman.
The voice of Carol Keogh is one of my favourites. It has a magical effect on me. Great track.
